On April 23, 2025, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the 2025 TIME100 Summit at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined some of the world's most influential people at the prestigious event. The Duchess of Sussex also spoke onstage with Jessica Sibley, CEO of TIME.
The summit, which featured stars such as Ryan Reynolds and Demi Moore, was designed to spotlight solutions and encourage action toward a better world. For the occasion, the Duchess wore a Ralph Lauren suit featuring the Russell silk-linen jacket.

-Astrid.
ReplyDeleteDon’t like the oversized pants…they look sloppy and are probably not easy to walk in. It seems the Duchess likes beige and neutral colors but it’d be nice to see her in some colo fur a change.
Agree. Strange when she once claimed her wearing of colours was restricted!
DeleteLove the oversized pants - love the whole Look!

'The Royal family does not want her to wear colour'
Delete@ Anon. 22:54
DeleteWhen I go to the boutiques and big stores with clothes for women all I see is beige, light beige, darker beige, café au lait, off-white,... The only shops which sell colors are those with classic clothes for older ladies. The younger generation are wearing neutrals like beige, white, black, light grey, light bleu, royal blue,.... that's about it. Very difficult these days to find up-to-date clothes in bright colors like green, yellow, orange, red, pink,... unless you can afford to buy your clothes from a more expensive brand (and I don't mean haute-couture).
@Anons 1:35 and 12:05 That is not exactly what was said. Being a lesser senior royal, she didn't have first choice of what color to wear. The Queen, Camilla, and Kate's choices would have come first, in that order. To avoid wearing the same color, she stuck with neutrals to avoid wearing the same color of more senior royals. She wore plenty of color when not with them, and wore bright green to the last Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey that she and Harry attended. That day, Sophie was in a creamy white dress and was the overwhelming favorite, while everyone else was in color.

There is a very sweet story as told by Carrie Johnson, wife of Boris Johnson, about this very thing. She kept the note from staff informing her of the Queen's attire for the evening.

@Anon 17:00 I agree with you. Neutrals are very much in vogue now, and have been. Pantone announces a new "color of the year" late in December for the coming year. It is difficult to always keep your wardrobe up-to-date when the color changes each year. That is why a wardrobe of neutrals is a wise choice, where a little color can be added to change the overall vibe if wanted. BTW, the color of the year for 2025 is "Mocha Mousse", a neutral.
Oh no not the wide trouser! I don’t understand why these slim built women insist on wearing something that looks like they’re being swallowed up in fabric.

It's called fashion, thats why.
DeleteIt’s when fashion meets The King’s New Clothes and nobody tells the truth: this looks ridiculous.
Delete@Anon 13:47 If fashion trends dictated that they go around wearing nothing but their birthday suit, how many would follow that trend?! My point being, just because it’s fashion you don’t have to wear it! In this case they should have been exchanged for a slimmer leg trouser.
DeleteLowri.
This pantsuit does not look good on the model and it does not look good on the Duchess! The pants in particular are too long and too wide, and I can’t imagine anyone who would look good in them.
ReplyDeleteI think she looks great except for the pants, indeed. They are too long, if you compare to the model, which makes them look sloppy. I would have put my hair in a loose updo, personally. I also like the shoes with this outfit. Harry looks great indeed.
DeleteDamsel Dragonfly
Weird how we don't criticise working royals in just as long and wide pants...
DeleteAnonymous 13:48 we absolutely do. Read back through the last week! No one wearing ill-fitting pants gets away with it here, and the very wide pants are constantly negatively noted. These here though … they take it another step too far by being much too wide and much too long.
DeleteI do not like this look on her. It might work on a taller person but she is not tall and the pants are far too long and I don’t care for the sleeves rolled up like that.
DeleteMeghan looks great. Beautiful pant suit and blouse. Harry looks good too.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair Harry always looks good! Whilst I wouldn’t want to wear these trousers they are the fashion… Charlene was wearing very wide long trousers too this week. I do like the overall look and think it fits the occasion. LRB
DeleteAgree! I like very much that beige linen? suit. If only the trousers were 2-3 cm shorter.
DeleteAgree. High fashion, style and colour.
DeleteI agree! I also agree with Zucchina in that I would prefer the pants to be 2-3 cm shorter.
DeleteJudy
Just tooo much fabric, either make it trousers/pants or make it a skirt
ReplyDeleteThe suit in itself looks nice. I also like the wide pantleg, but this one is just a bit too much. Why is the pant so horribly long unless she joined the cleaning crew and is sweeping the floor.
ReplyDeletecss
When talk of authenticity, philanthropy, equality and representation take on a practical “I’ll help the cleaning crew with the sweeping” aspect!
DeleteHa ha ha! CSS and Anonymous 09:51, thank you for making me laugh!
DeleteThese oversized pants are quite unattractive, including on the model.
ReplyDelete-Royal Watcher
Pants look ridiculous.

Meghan looks lovely - but those wide trousers are difficult to wear and still look good in them. I think it's more of a 'moment' thing whether they look good or not, meaning the trousers don't look too bad in the photo where she is standing between Harry and the woman in blonde curls, but they don't look good at all in the photo next to the model photo. They might as well have been a skirt.
ReplyDelete- Anon 9:13
I realise this oversized look is fashionable but this looks awful. There is nothing stylish or elegant with the overall presentation.
ReplyDelete. For the cost of this outfit combined with the silk shirt, quite steep in price I would like a better look overall. On movement you can truly see how large the pants are. So much dragging on the ground. This is too baggy. The jacket is also too large. I don’t like this fabric, it creases too much. Another type of fabric would solve this problem. The silk shirt is okay and I like the colour of the shoes. If this is fashionable I would much rather stick with an ensemble more graceful and smart looking. The black suit the lady is wear looks lovely.
The blonde girl’s black skirt suit is very pretty and neat. By contrast, Meghan’s suit is mind boggling messy and not even just ill -fitting but ridiculously ill-fitting. Multiple sizes too big, I wonder why she chose that, or had she not tried it on before the event and had nothing else on hand. Or does she wear it as joke perhaps?
ReplyDeleteYou are simply being mean. Suggesting she has worn this as a joke is ignorant. It is current fashion. Her suit is the correct size. The style is oversized. All the comments about how terrible wide legged pants are make me laugh. It is as though none of you that hate them ever wore them in the past. Sure, there may have been a few that were not into style and walked around looking different from all the women (and men) around you, but for the most part we all wore wide legged pants in the 70's and into the early 80's. I remember my grandfather laughing at a pair of pants I was wearing in the early 1970's, telling me I had enough fabric in my pants for two pairs. He was born in 1895 and had a very different sense of "proper" style due to his age. Fashion is cyclical and always has been. The 80's styles are definitely making a comeback, which was a period of oversized clothing and big shoulder pads. It is perfectly okay to not like this style and be of the age that you would not wear them yourself. At her age, my mother would not want to revisit her wardrobe from that time in her life. Personally, I am not warming up to all oversized clothes because I have already done that, and it was my least favorite decade of fashion. Some of it, with moderation for my age, I like. As this is a fashion blog, part of it is remembering what is in style. We can dislike something, but we should be respectful about it. An example is how Sophie wears such long dresses (that are oversized on her because they were not designed to be worn that long.) I personally think they are not flattering on her and age her. It has also been explained that there is a segment of elite women who dress that way in the UK. Just as Sophie wears what is stylish in her socioeconomic group, other women choose to dress in a more fashionable way for their own reasons. It is not wrong, just not necessarily our personal taste. Lastly, we typically dress for the occasion and the people we will be joining. As stated above, Harry and Meghan "joined some of the world's most influential people at the prestigious event," which would suggest a more fashion forward wardrobe. Taking everything into account, I generally like this entire look, with the exception of the length of her pants. It is fashionable to have clothes (trousers and gowns) dragging on the ground, but I don't care for it. Would I wear personally wear this outfit? Maybe. Do I think it is a good choice for her at this event? Absolutely.
DeleteAnon 19:55…Did you think your grandfather was mean when he laughed at your oversized pants? I also grew up with those awful, wide leg pants and other 70’s monstrosities and much of them were very worthy of a laugh! Frankly, those oversized pants look difficult to walk in. I give a lot of credit to anyone who can navigate them easily without tripping all over the place!
Delete@Anon 23:04 Walking in those pants was no different than walking in a long dress or skirt, which was also very much in style at the same time. My grandfather became a frugal man because he lost his entire fortune during the depression. Because of that history, he saw fabric that could have gone for something else. He obviously understood clothing styles had evolved from what they were when he was my age, nothing like what his mother or sisters had worn when he was growing up. He never thought they were "...ridiculously ill-fitting. Multiple sizes too big." He only saw the cost of using more fabric. Thanks for giving credit to all the women and girls who walked around quite normally. I will pass the message on to my mother. She will get a kick out of you thinking it was some great feat!
DeleteI personally don’t understand the negativity around this suit. To me it’s elegant, chic and casual at the same time. The beautiful drape of the pant over the elegant pump makes this outfit really feminine in contrast to the more masculine suits we often see with P Catherine, QMax and Mary.
ReplyDeleteAgreed.

Anon 08:15….it’s not being negative not liking her outfit…just people’s’ opinion. My opinion is the outfit overwhelms Meghan, too baggy and oversized and the color is bland. Anyone else is free to think what they like about it!
DeleteAnon 14.17 where do I say other people can’t express their opinion ?! I only say that I don’t understand it. Please don’t overreact on somebody else’s opinion. Have a nice evening.
DeleteI like oversized, on any- and everybody - but you don't have to take it to the vertically *and* horizontally ridiculous to tell the world you are following the last fashion. Fashionable can be nice if you adapt it to your own features, here the jacket is nice, but the pants are overkill by suppressing them. Only thing I like are the colours, they fit Meghan better than strong colours that can make her look a touch vulgar. A side note on the positioning of her forearms and hands - it is very affected.
ReplyDeleteMM can have this color, but she is too short for this trouser`s length in my opinion. The model wears it better.
DeleteWhat a bad fit - pants are way too long and too wide for her petite figure. It is not even her size. That suit would have looked much better on a tall person such as Catherine or Mery.
ReplyDeleteMeghan looks fantastic. A real fashonista even if her anti fans complain as expected.
ReplyDeleteThe colour suits Meghan well but the sizing is bewildering. I can only think that perhaps she inadvertently took Harry’s unironed trousers from the washing pile at home, and finding they were 4 sizes too big once she got to New York, and with the 4 car convoy impatient to depart, has done her best to keep them from falling with a nice belt.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nasty comment. She has security in NYC because sadly she and Harry need it. Perhaps if your family were subjected to death threats you would be more sympathetic. Not liking the oversized style is fine, suggesting she is wearing her husband’s clothes is not fine. This is the look intended by RL and she is fashion forward. LRB
DeleteAnon 17:59 - Yes clothes this oversized DO look like someone grabbed the wrong size! That’s true, rather than mean, as the other commenter feels. Gave me a good laugh, thank you!
DeleteThat’s pretty funny!
DeleteYes! That explains it. Just a silly mixup from the laundry pile! That’s really funny :-)))
DeleteAnon 17 59. Brilliant. 🤩 I was going to say she looked like she’d borrowed from someone taller and broader than her but you idea is far better. Just made me laugh 😆
ReplyDeleteAnon17.10 glad someone being really mean makes you laugh. How very sad, and beneath this blog, frankly. LRB
ReplyDeleteOh, I really don’t think the commenter was being mean - the pants are indisputably oversized and it’s pretty funny to think she may inadvertently be wearing her husband’s larger clothes on her petite frame.
