On May 9, 2021, Grand Duke Henri, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie of Luxembourg attended the traditional pontifical mass at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Luxembourg that was held as part of Catholic Octave celebrations.
The Octave is one of Luxembourg's major annual religious celebrations. It starts on the 3rd Sunday after Easter and closes with the Octave Procession on the 5th Sunday after Easter. Due to the pandemic, only the pontifical mass was held this year and the Octave Procession did not take place.

Stephanie, how lovely to see you in a proper dress, and a gorgeous one to boot, combined with a beautiful hair-do! Wonderful and fresh! - Maria Teresa also has a great outfit, but not for this occasion. It would be brilliant for sailing or something relaxed, but I find it is the wrong outfit for this occasion. - Once more; Stephanie excels! - Ellie

Who goes sailing in a satin jacket?

I like Maria Teresa's look here - I think the dramatic jacket works despite her small stature. Much prefer her hair like this with the soft half fringe rather than slicked back.
ReplyDeleteStephanie is wearing a pretty dress with quite a flattering cut. Quibble is the hemline looks a bit off - like it's been hastily tacked. Think a shawl in the same blue as the dress would have been more effective- the one she has brings the look "down" for want of a better word.

Like I always said: Stephanie needs jewel colours to bring out her best. This shade of blue is perfect for her. Her legs are as pretty as ever, so no need to hide them in ghastly elephant pants. I don't care for the shoes, but that's a minor quibble.
ReplyDeleteAs for her hair, it looks best in the last pic, where it gives the impression of a short tousled bob and makes her look younger.
lovely to see them all, and ladies in white and blue, and above all a nice feeling of freshness . They are styled quite differently; the effort of Stephanie is quite notable and is a success in my view. The dress fits her quite well. A successful choice as well for the GD Maria Theresa. She seems to like that sort of wide jacket, a good choice for her.
ReplyDeleteAn addition from me; the cut of MT trousers is perfect for her, and surely for many other ladies.
ReplyDeleteYay Stephanie! You made me smile!
ReplyDeleteNice dress, great colour, beautiful updo and well-styled accessories.
The only issues I have are the hemline which is a few inches too short and the neckline too deep for a religious ceremony. But, apart from that, a great look! I love it!!
The hemline isn't too short, neither is the neckline too low. The problem is the too long necklace which draws the attention to the pendant having disappeared underneath the fabric. She should have put on a shorter necklace with a beautiful pendant visible and nobody would have noticed her neckline anyway.
DeleteLength and neckline are ok, she is a young woman !!
ReplyDeleteGD Maria Teresa's outfit is very nice, I love the jacket ... HGD Stephanie's dress is a good choice for her, I don't like this kind of blue pumps and the long necklace ... I would prefere a short darkblue saphir necklace for exemple ... the gentlemen match well with their ladies.
ReplyDeleteWow, Stephanie is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThe ladies look lovely! Duchess Stephanie looks very lovely in her beautiful blue dress with the matching blue shoes. It looks like she put some extra effort in her ensemble. I especially like Grand Duchess Maria Teresa's blue shimmering stripe jacket. I think that the horizontal stripes are especially flattering. However I think navy shoes would have looked better. Although I know Mothers day is not celebrated in Luxembourg until June I would like to wish all of you mothers a Happy Mothers Day! Fitzhugh
ReplyDeleteStephanie chose a wonderful outfit here. I love the pattern and her choice of pairings! A+
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased to see the effort Stephanie put in choosing the outfit. It works well, even if a longer hemline could have been been preferable. It is such an improvement, I have hope she will continue with some level of thoughtfulness going forward.
ReplyDeleteThe GD looks good, much as this isn’t a jacket fabric/cut that does her any favours. It is however very much an outfit typical of her sartorial style. And thank goodness she dropped her previous hairdo. This looks so much better!

Stephanie is deeply religious. I suspect her "too-long-necklace" is actually a cross, which she wears daily and hides under clothes, by the classic christian tradition.
ReplyDeleteTrès jolies couleurs pour la tenue de Stéphanie, mais robe trop courte et talons trop hauts, chignon vieux jeu !!

MT's jacket is too sporty looking to be in church for such a solemn occasion, the cut and off-set lengths add to the disjointed look. Thankfully she wore a navy underblouse with appropriate neckline.
ReplyDeleteStephanie makes very good use of that shawl in case of questionable modesty. This is especially evident in those photos where she is in close proximity to the clergy, which shows how respectful she is and I appreciate that. As a fairly mindful Catholic myself, I think the neckline is fine for general purposes. From a matter of style, an inch longer on the hem would elevate her overall look from thundering applause to standing ovation for me.
ReplyDeleteI love the GD's outfit and especially her hair style.

The cut of Stephanie's dress is flattering on her. I like the bright blue and white. Her accessories are on point. I'm not a fan of her updo- there's something messy and dated about it. I like MT'S jacket. The cut of her pants is flattering on her.

This time, Stephanie easily outshines her mother in law. Lovely dress with every5hing going for it. Great style, great colour and although a little on the short side, it’s not enough to be off putting. Agree that a blue wrap would have looked better but love the shoes. The best thing about the Grand Duchesses look is her hair which is so much more flattering than what we have seen recently.
