On April 18, 2025, King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida presided over the opening ceremony of the 2025 National Mawlid Celebration, held at the National Administration Center for Islamic Affairs in Nong Chok District, Bangkok. This significant annual event for Thai Muslims has been celebrated continuously since its inception in Hijri Year 1385.
As the Royal Patron of all religions in the kingdom, King Maha Vajiralongkorn has consistently supported the organization of this event. The Mawlid Celebration in Thailand has been held since 1961 to commemorate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad and to honor his teachings and way of life. Thai Muslims represent the country’s largest religious minority.
