The Danish Science Festival (Forskningens Døgn) is an annual, week-long event held each April. The festival comprises more than 700 lectures and activities across the country and attracts around 70,000 visitors every year. The Danish Science Festival was first held in 2005. Queen Mary chose a blush pink blazer suit by Andiata for the occasion.

What a beautiful suit for Q. Mary. The fit is perfect, especially the length of the trousers. I have a slight preference for this look with the black top but the tonal blouse is pretty too, aside from the very high neckline. (V.M.)

It’s a neat and attractive suit that if I saw you in, I’d compliment you on such a beautiful suit. Why say a stranger trying her hardest looks boring?

@Anon 00:22: Do you expect excitement on this blog? If yes, then I would try a crime story or a mystery novel instead of a fashion blog.

It is a lovely suit. I’m just saying that some sparkle is needed. I don’t I am entitled to my opinion and I’m not saying anything hurtful.

It is a little bit hurtful, I’d be hurt to be called boring. But thanks for clarifying re you thinking it needs some sparkle; when you put it that way it’s not at all hurtful and many will agree! I think the understated outfit is current style, and Letizia is often noted for it too.

It's a Science Festival. This is not the time for tiaras, or organza gowns with a long train. It's also not the time for flamboyant daytime wear - she not meeting a head of state or other royalty. She's wearing something that looks professional but not overbearing, *and* doesn't outshine the kids!

Yes, you are entitled to your opinion but when you don't provide context to that opinion you open yourself up to "clap backs." And here they are. :)

@Anon 00:22 When you make comments like that, you do need to expect rebuttal comments. Adding context always helps so assumptions are not made about your motives. Too often, negative comments are made simply because the person commenting does not like the royal they are commenting about. I agree with comments above. The type of event dictates the wardrobe as much as who is wearing it--a queen.

Everybody should know by now that no comments what so ever can be made on Queen Mary's outfits. If Anon. 00:22 find this outfit boring it is her right and she only expressing what she does not like about the outfit. There are too many people who forget we are on a fashion blog.

@Anon 17:08 I don't love everything Mary wears and I don't mind saying so. The problem is when it is a declarative statement such as "ugly", "boring", or "no". Without more details, it is easy to think the person making the comment has a personal bias against the person they are commenting on. It happens often here. Giving context to the opinion makes the comment meaningful. As you point out, we are on a fashion blog, so the fashion should be discussed.

My statement about the outfit was not a comment about Mary.
My apologies if I didn’t get the wording just right Or qualify my opinion. I will stick to reading only and no more commenting.

Now this a suit you can get behind. The length is perfect, the same with the width. Andiata brand have similar clothing to The Fold another reasonably priced outlet. Queen Mary elevates the suit with her elegance and posture.

Oh my! What an inappropriate thing to say. Pray she never sees your comment. She probably wore one of her nicest dresses to see the queen and felt good about herself, but you ruined it.

Also, get over the "color" thing. There is nothing wrong with wearing neutral colors. They are in style. I do agree with you about the black shirt. I prefer it as well.

I never said she didn’t look good. I think she does. She has chosen a nice outfit in a lovely colour which looks smart. Large is a description not an insult.

      Delete
    5. @anon at 02:22, why did you need that description "large" when it would have been enough with "the lady on the left"? So, I think it was meant to be an insult but ok.
I think too that she looks lovely in that red dress.

    6. Anonymous25/4/25 15:26

I agree with Zucchina. She is the lady on the left, the lady in the red dress. Everyone would have known who you were discussing without the added descriptor. Saying "large" definitely comes across as disparaging, whether you meant it that way or not.

This is a beautiful pantsuit. She looks stylish, smart and chic. The trousers are perfect, the right length and width. The jacket equally well fitted. I particularly like the length of the jacket equally. The fabric is excellent, no creases in the fabric of her pants or jacket. Love her shoes. She looks so elegant.

Excellent example for what I tried to say re Meghans wide leg pants : here we see fashionably wide legs, but no horizontal and/or vertical exaggeration that cries "fashion is followed here" like in Meghan's case. Fashion serves Mary instead the other way round. Very elegant, beautiful appearance.

I see that as well less exaggeration of the pant width, yet keeping the look.

Very good said! Mary is clever to pick what is right for her - and the result is always elegant. She does not wear clothes because they are the fashion.

Very elegant look and I love her hair styled like this.
She has worn this pantsuit before with a white blouse, now with the black top which create very nice contrast with the color of her suit. Perhaps next time add some accessories, like the belt or necklace or brooch.

Queen Mary's pant suit is a rewear she has quite a while. The lapels are copied from men's tuxedo's like they were worn in the 60s or 70s. But the whole look is not bad at all. Lucky she wears a black contrasting top with it and her lezard shoes. I wish to refer to Meghan's pants.@ Anonymous 9:32 First I do not see why they have to be compared with Mary's. Secondly Meghan's pants are probably bought last year while Mary's pant suit is much older. I do not like the very wide pants either, but I would neither buy the pant suit of Queen Mary.
Mrs Egelund's dress is too short and too high waisted. I do not understand how people on this blog can find it beautiful. She is probably a wonderful and friendly lady but her dress style does nothing for her body type. There are other beautiful styles these days for women who are not very thin.

I agree and disagree with you.

I agree that there is no reason to compare Mary and Meghan. They are of different status, meaning it is safe to assume that Mary will be dressed more conservatively. The type of event and who they are with makes a great deal of difference.

Where I disagree with you is about Christina Egelund's dress. Firstly, she has worn this dress before when with Mary, which tells me she probably doesn't have many dresses to chose from. Many women only have a couple of dresses. Since you are discussing her body type, you need to remember that often the smallest part of a woman is on the ribs, under the bust. It makes perfect sense that she would chose an empire waisted dress to emphasize the smallest part of her body. Wearing a dress with a waist at her natural waist would emphasize a larger part of her body. That is never a wise option. Secondly, I don't see anything wrong with the length of the skirt either. Her knees are covered! How much longer should it be? I have to wonder if we get conditioned to things, like a too long dress or skirt, by looking at royal ladies on this blog and begin to think that all women should dress like them. I think Ms. Egelund looks lovely.
