On April 17, 2025, Japanese Princess Kako visited the Ishikawa Prefectural Wajima Institute of Lacquer Arts in Ishikawa Prefecture. During her visit, Princess Kako met with members of the Japan Crafts Association. The Ishikawa Prefectural Wajima Institute was selected as the recipient of the 18th Yomiuri Aoniyoshi Award, which honors individuals and groups committed to preserving and passing on cultural heritage.
The Institute of Lacquer Arts is a key facility for preserving and passing down the traditional skills used to create lacquerware, including the renowned Wajima-nuri. In the city of Wajima — the birthplace of Wajima-nuri — many workshops were destroyed or collapsed due to the January 1 earthquake. Since then, recovery efforts have enabled approximately 80% of the nearly 400 workshops to resume production.

Did she borrow the shoes? Please tell me she borrowed the shoes and those are not the actual ones she wore to the event.
ReplyDeleteThere's a difference between an "oversized-style" jacket and one that is just too big and ill fitting. This is the later. Also, you have to have a certain flair for fashion attitude to wear the style. The conservative, reserve, demure, attitudes of the Japanese royal ladies doesn't really work with it.
I think these are not her own shoes, but special shoes to protect the floor. This is not unusual in some ancient buildings.

ReplyDeleteDès que je vois écrit « princesse Kako » dans le titre, je m'empresse de regarder ses photos ; toujours souriante, je remarque qu'elle sait choisir ses boucles d'oreilles mais au niveau de sa tenue, il me semble que pour être portée avec son pantalon, une veste moins ample et plus courte l'aurait avantagée !
