As a gesture of gratitude to the city of Madrid and its residents for making it possible for her to stay in the city under special circumstances, on April 7, 2025, Crown Princess Catharina-Amalia of the Netherlands inaugurated a small tulip garden and a commemorative plaque in Plaza de Oriente, Madrid.

Due to threats from a criminal organization known as the Mocro Mafia, Princess Amalia lived in Madrid under the protection of the Spanish monarchy and continued her studies at the University of Amsterdam online.

Crown Princess Amalia lived in Madrid in 2023 after having to leave Amsterdam due to threats that compromised her safety. To thank the city and its people for their warmth and hospitality, the Princess donated tulips — a flower symbolic of her country — last November. The flowers have now bloomed, and she personally inaugurated the small tulip garden.

I read somewhere that the burgundy colours is synonymic with power, sophistication, confidence and authority.
This seems to be true for beautiful CP Amalia.
    Well done to her!👏
She is by far more mature and self- assured and this outfit is so flattering on her.
    Her hair is fabulous.
    She holds the scene.
She has the same captivating smile as her mother's.

Weiter so, schöne Prinzessin : ) - Dorothe -

I agree, a patterned dress like this works well for her. Great colour

    2. She’s gorgeous! (Whisper it) but since she lost weight, her confidence has grown massively. She must be aware that she looks good and doesn’t need to hide behind the outfits we saw on the infamous Caribbean tour. Well done, Princess of Orange, and how lovely for us royal watchers to anticipate an increasing number of solo engagements.

Very lovely dress. She has grown so much in confidence since her first engagements (as to be expected!). The difference in her demeanour between this event and for example those events on the Caribbean tour is noticeable on video. Well done to Amalia!

She also spoke very good Spanish without hesitation. I guess Maxima must have spoken some Spanish to her daughters growing up.

I bet Amalia and her sisters have been familiar with Spanish since their tender years.
This often happens to children born from parents with two different nationalities and speaking two different native languages-.
I am not totally sure but all three daughters may have attended international schools since their early childhood too.
Once I saw a video showing Princess Alexia being introduced
to an elementary school by her parents and at least three languages were clearly audible: Dutch, English and Spanish.

Huch...ist Amalia so groß....oder der Mann neben ihr soooo klein. Amalia sieht sehr gut aus.

  7. When seing this article, my thoughts went first to the Lord Mayor of Madrid who appears on the pictures, and thought it must be embarrassing for him to appear so small compared with the princess.
    Nice look for Amalia.

Silly comment suggesting a man is embarrassed standing next to a taller woman. Is he embarrassed standing next to the king of Spain.

on average Dutch people are the tallest in Europe and the Spanish the opposite

  9. Délicieuse Amalia dans cette robe qui épouse à merveille sa silhouette - Ses bottes sont magniques dans un cuir très souple mais pour cette occasion, peut-être que des sandales à lanières auraient mieux convenu !

The outfit is great on her. She is looking more like her mother in her expressions and around her eyes.
Look forward to seeing more engagements from this young woman in coming years.

I don’t get it. Here is a Dutch princess in sunny Madrid offering Spring flowers to the Spanish people. Why is she wearing a dress in autumn colors and brown leather boots?

Firstly, her boots are burgundy, not brown. Secondly, colors are not exclusive to a given season. That is a very old fashioned idea. It is true that brighter colors are worn more often in spring and summer, and darker colors are more often seen in fall and winter. It is not a rule. There is nothing so lovely as a cheerful color in the dull, drab winter months. Conversely, dark colors can be worn in the warmer months very successfully if the fabric is a warm weather weight. There is a lot to be said for wearing what looks good on you, and feeling confident in your clothes. She clearly looks good and feels good about herself.

Because she likes the dress and boots? Could just be a simple a reason as that? Many people wear colors they like out of “season” and there is nothing wrong with that!

    3. P. the original7/4/25 21:33

Why these season restrictions for colours?
      Who established these rules?
Never heard of anything like that.
These "rules" do not exist, as simple as that.
There are beautiful spring/ summer chiffon or silk outfits in burgundy shades , irrispective of the model and the pattern.
I myself have sleeveless summer ensembles in this fascinating color which I sometimes pair with high heeled summer boots (do you know what summer boots are?).
Spring has just started and temperatures are not so high yet.
I find that Amalia made an excellent choice .
By the way, her boots are in a burgundy colour as well , not brown.
Even the model in the pic suggests a similar combo dress+ boots.
Amalia looks completely at ease with her boots and she has every right to do so.
