Pope Francis, the first Latin American leader of the Roman Catholic Church, passed away on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, at the age of 88, at his residence in the Vatican’s Casa Santa Marta. The European royal families paid tribute to Pope Francis by sharing condolence messages and photographs taken with him.
King Charles and Queen Camilla expressed their condolences following the death of Pope Francis, just 11 days after their state visit to Italy, during which they held a private audience with the Pontiff.
King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden wrote: The Queen and I remember Pope Francis with great respect and warmth. Our thoughts are with Catholics around the world who have lost a great leader and role model.
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium stated: It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Pope Francis. He was a great man, close to the most vulnerable and concerned about the problems of the world.
We share the sorrow of all Catholics throughout the world and of all who loved and esteemed him, and we are grateful for the honour he did us by visiting our country.
Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg expressed: The Grand Duchess and I are deeply saddened by the announcement of the death of His Holiness Pope Francis. This sorrow is all the greater as we had the honour and immense joy of welcoming him on an official visit to Luxembourg just last September.
He was a man of great compassion, always concerned with the most disadvantaged and refugees, and deeply attentive to the hopes of younger generations. He was, for us and for the world beyond the Church, a spiritual guide. We offer You our most sincere condolences and, through You, to the entire Catholic community.
Prince Albert and Princess Charlene shared: It is with infinite sadness and deep sorrow that we have learned of the passing of Pope Francis on this Easter Monday. Deeply moved, my family and I, along with the entire Principality, wish to extend our most sincere condolences to the Catholic Church and to all the faithful, with whom we share immense grief.
King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark have sent a letter of condolence to His Eminence Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, Dean of the College of Cardinals, on the occasion of the death of His Holiness Pope Francis.
Ciao Francesco...Roma è vuota senza Te ♥️

Easter Monday- Holy Father has gone to heaven on the same day as his savior Jesus Christ
ReplyDeleteGracious humble man. How befitting he was able to celebrate his last Easter, a significant time in the liturgical calendar so important to him. And to leave this earth on Easter Monday after being able to be amongst his devoted. So incredibly meaningful. May he rest in peace leaving a legacy such as his was.
ReplyDeleteMay he rest in eternal peace. Bless you.
ReplyDeleteAs I have heard it said repeatedly today, passing on Easter Monday couldn't have been any more appropriate. He was a humble man that left a huge legacy and had the respect of people from all walks of life.
ReplyDeletePope Francis was an amazing personality, with great charisma. I met him 4 years ago during his visit in my country. He joked a lot, was very humble and left a lasting impression on me.

"The People's Pope," as long as the people are liberals.
ReplyDeleteThere´s truth in this comment. Pope Francis was a dividing figure, admired by some but disliked by others. I appreciated that he was outspoken about the genocide in Gaza and opposing wars in general. However, he was also driving the globalist agenda, advocating for the injections, and driving other liberal ideas forward. He didn´t side with the people but with the big corporations and with the elites.
DeleteTo Vanessa and others: Pope Francis was the head of Catholics around the world, not a politician. The Pope is primarily a spiritual leader, it is not his job to solve wars, nor political or economic agendas, nor social crises. He can only help direct people towards a higher good. You have politicians whom you elected to solve crises and wars.
DeleteMy general observation is that mainly non-Catholics want to evaluate his steps, and even to determine us who should be the new Pope and what he should do.
I have not seen leaders of other religions are evaluated and criticized in the same way. But many people like to "kick" Catholics.

Thank you Stephanie. Sadly, I am not surprised that there are inappropriate comments being made--again! There is a time and a place for those thoughts, and this is not it. Even worse, this was used as an opportunity to push one individual's personal agenda.
DeleteThe end of an Aera. This Saturday His Holiness will be laid to rest. He will not be forgotten for a long time. May he RIP. The angels of God will carry him to Heaven.
