On the third day of their visit to Vietnam, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde visited Ho Chi Minh City. The day started with an official meeting between the King and Queen and the Secretary of the Communist Party of Ho Chi Minh City at the historic Reunification Palace. After the meeting, the King and Queen visited The Cocoa Project, where they met students from the Puratos bakery school.
During their visit to Ho Chi Minh City, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde visited Vĩnh Nghiêm Pagoda (Vinh Nghiem Buddhist Temple) at noon on April 3. Vĩnh Nghiêm Pagoda, the ancestral temple of the Vĩnh Nghiêm sect in southern Vietnam, was constructed in 1964 and completed in 1971. This pagoda houses and is a place of worship for one Buddha and two Bodhisattvas: Gautama Buddha, Manjusri, and Samantabhadra.
On the afternoon of April 3, as part of their visit to Vietnam, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde visited the War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City and met with several victims of Agent Orange. Agent Orange was a herbicide mixture used by the U.S. military during the Vietnam War. Additionally, the King and Queen were briefed on technology and some achievements in the remediation and cleanup of dioxin-contaminated land in Vietnam.
Both dresses are quite elegant.
ReplyDeleteIs it embroidery on the first one?
Such a beautifull summery combination, the white with green on the dress and the green little hat. And that amidst the flowers and the green trees.
The second one also an lovely dress in good combination with her jolly hairdo.
I loved the green and white dress. The shoes, earrings and hat are perfect too. She looks great. The green printed dress is not bad either. Mathilde looks very pretty in both outfits.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. The first outfit is gorgeous, cool summery and pretty. The hat is great. The second dress is fine but it’s not improved by the contrasting fabric on the skirt
DeleteShe's only 52 and a lovely woman but her wardrobe this trip has done her no favors at all.

Oh Marie, never a positive or uplifting comment…
DeleteMarie, opposite opinion from me: I’ve loved her outfits on this tour. Vibrant and pretty, each one. She’s a very lovely 52.
DeleteMarie, what type of clothes would you like her to wear that has class.
DeleteTotally disagree with you, Marie. I think Queen Mathilde’s choices of outfits have been, colourful, elegant and appropriate. Classy and sophisticated and not in any way old fashioned or frumpy.
DeleteI too loved Queen Mathilde outfits on this tour, elegant and classy.
DeleteI think what Marie is trying to say is that these prints, while certainly bright, are rather aging on Mathilde.
DeleteShe is pretty and has a nice figure and a nice solid colored dress or suit would serve her better.

Agree with An 17:31.

Oh, she looks so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely couple. I like both dresses on the queen, but prefer the second one. Not fussy on the cape type collar. I bet without that collar the dress would be a nice cool summer dress.
ReplyDeleteIf this cape collar thingy has a right to exist in this world, than on Mathilde's slim shoulders. It gives her elegantly slim looking hips. Good balance between the two hemispheres of the body. The pattern itself is lovely, also because it stops before it gets too much. The other dress is lovely too, but it could have stopped before that taupe section and prove thereby that less can be more.
ReplyDeleteI think she looks lovely in both of these dresses. Although they are both striking, large prints, the more open necklines and shorter sleeves provide a nice balance to the overall looks. Well done! (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteI loved both of these dresses the first time QM wore them. The white and green contrast in perfection. I love QM in this type of hat,is suits her far better than the larger hats.
ReplyDeleteLowri.
Nice dresses just not keen on the overlay of the 1st one. The other green dress is lovely.

Both outfits looks elegant. I especially love the latter one. The Queen is so sincere and gentle, its so beautiful to see.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the previous comment that Queen Mathilda dresses too old for her age. Especially the hats, so old fashioned.
ReplyDeleteThe hat on state visits is a custom in the Netherlands and Belgium. What do you expect her to wear on a state visit ? She is a queen.
DeleteWhen you follow Queen Mathilde you must have seen her as a participant on different sports events in Belgium in which she is biking together with handicapped people. She likes also hiking : their yearly trip (the king and she) to Compostella. Queen Mathilde when working for the UN, she is spotted when participating in a foot-ball match with the local youth. The yearly marathon of Brussels. On all these events the Queen is wearing sports gear and she looks very good in it. Automatically she looks younger too, but she cannot wear these clothes when visiting officially other states and representing Belgium together with the king.

DeleteThe hats so old fashioned ? The hats of Queen Mathilde are made today by a female hat maker. Fabienne Delvigne is a classy lady herself who works for queens and aristocratic ladies. It are these ladies (younger and older) who wear the hats on different occasions. Princess Catherine is wearing hats. The British royal ladies are wearing hats. Queen Maxima is wearing hats, etc... The hats are also made in other fabrics than in the old days. Once I saw a video of the work of Fabienne Delvigne a Brussels hatmaker who uses vegetal material like dryed banana leaves but also silk and feathers. You can compare it with the modern jewelry which is made of natural materials combined with gold and half gemstones. The people who make these things are modern artists and usually have a business of their own. I cannot call them old fashioned. Just like the work of a painter or another artist who is making sculptures, they all sell their work to aristocrats and other rich people. That is what they do for a living.
I love the more casual dress, in the stronger green. This is so elegant on her and the hair style lovely. She comes across as a very gentle woman.
ReplyDeleteHer style and that touch of class....
ReplyDeleteThe green and white dress worn for the first time in London on "Founders day" of the Royal Hospital Chelsea on 8 June 2023 is designed by Natan.
ReplyDeleteThe hat is made by Fabienne Delvigne of dryed banana leafs, silk and feathers. Queen Mathilde is wearing a green clutch and shoes. Jewelry : diamond and emerald earrings and a golden bracelet designed by Belgian jewelry maker Christine Bekaert. The outfit received only good comments from the Brits.
The second green dress with white and pink flowers also designed by Natan for the Garden Party held in the parc and green houses of the Castle of Laeken on 13 May 2023 for King Philippe's 10 years on the trone. This dress has been worn several times by Queen Mathilde since then. I think it must be one of her favourite Summer dresses.
I like her in both dresses. Like many people already said, she is a classy lady.
