On the evening of April 1, 2025, King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark hosted a return dinner in the Salon Opera at Le Grand Hôtel in Paris. King Frederik and Queen Mary welcomed over 300 guests to the event. Among the guests were members of the state visit delegation, as well as selected French and Danish representatives. The dinner celebrated French-Danish relations in diplomacy, culture, politics, and business.
On this occasion, Queen Mary wore a Fantasma fil-coupé coat by Taller Marmo and 'Queen' gold earrings from the Portuguese jewelry brand Alma E. Coração.

Mary is colouring her hair!
ReplyDeleteSo what if she is??? Our hair belongs to us... our choice. Color it l, style it or let it look like we went through a tornado.
DeleteAnd this is news? She’s been coloring her hair for years.
DeleteShe has done that for years !!
DeleteOMG!!!
DeleteYes I’ve observed that Mary has coloured her hair for many years. I prefer her natural brunette to the red but how lovely we get to choose our own hair colour according to our own preferences and mood!
DeleteAnon 01.01 Oh wow, Mary’s colouring her hair. Groundbreaking. People change their look—get used to it.
DeleteYes, it’s a pity! Her own colour is much better. This is too warm.
DeleteNo!
DeleteWhy are most of the responses to 1:01 snarky? Can’t you let another commenter make their observation - and if you want to respond, do that interestingly and kindly? There’s no excuse for snarkiness here. It makes reading comments a bit miserable instead of fun.
DeleteWow! Where have you been for the past 15-20 years? She's 53 and I would suspect she's been dying it since her late 20s/early 30s. And I hope you're sitting down because, news flash, the Princess of Wales dyes her's too. :0
DeleteAnd Mrs. Macron wears wigs (often times bad ones). At least Mary is showcasing her own locks. But either way, it's a woman's own prerogative and whatever makes her feel good and confident about her appearance. Get a grip ... and catch up.
DeleteAt "Anon 13:28"
DeleteThe comments are snarky because the post was snarky. It's called, "tit for tat," or since we're in France, "du tac au tac." :)
When a comment lacks insight and interest, responses will follow accordingly.

DeleteIt pains me to say it,but apart from the Dior suit worn on arrival it’s been an underwhelming ensembles. The suit worn today with the chunky collar blouce,we’ve seen many times before. She could have worn the royal blue suit from The Fold, just to switch things up a bit.
ReplyDeleteNow tonight’s look is nice,it’s just not giving the ‘wow’ factor we’ve come to expect from QM.
Lowri.
Yes Lowri, same. I’ve been pondering : has Queen Mary maybe tried to be Paris-chic and thus stepped away from her normal Mary-chic which is just so perfect for her? Or is she perhaps just feeling tired, which would be totally acceptable. Of course she still looks absolutely fantastic, but just not (to my eye) with normal Maryness. - Mary
DeleteLowri, I feel exactly the same, not wows apart from the arrival suit. Oh well maybe she was just not feeling it!

Bare legs, distracting from the overall look. Dress is ok, but nothing special.
ReplyDeleteI would be more distracted by stockings. Most women are bare legged and have been for many years. Maxima is an example of someone who has distracting stockings. Her's have an unnatural shine to them. Also, it is mentioned almost every time a pair of stockings are too light on some of the older royal ladies. Mary is certainly young enough to look fantastic with bare legs.
DeleteYou must have eagle eyes. I cannot see from these pictures that she doesn't wear tights/panty hose. These days there are panty hose that are so thin that it is almost not visible (especially the French ones).
DeleteAgree not the wow factor, though I like the dress very much. The gold splashes are nicely done. Earrings a perfect match. I think for me it is the solid black at the top. Not the best colour for her, or maybe it is lack of necklace. Can’t put my finger on it. Not bad but not the best for me.
Paloma.
This is a lovely dress but still a little underwhelming for this formal event. Queen Mary looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteJ’aurais aimé un diadème et une tenue en conséquence.
ReplyDeleteHello to the Queen and King
ReplyDeleteMy eyes go directly to the 5th photo of the woman in the gown with the balloon skirt--a pure fashion moment. That is an example of the high level fashion I was hoping to see from Mary while in Paris. She could have rented a dress for the dinner like Letizia has done in the past. Her clothes for this visit have left me underwhelmed.
ReplyDeleteI find this balloon dress weird. Especially with those shoes.
DeleteThe balloon dress is horible. Not a good publicity for French fashion.
DeleteQueen Mary looks lovely here. I think this coat is an interesting choice. It's certainly an evening sort of frock. I can see why she chose something that was more along the lines of a cocktail type of outfit because that certainly seems to be the dress code. And this look is growing on me--I think what's winning me over is her earrings. Those are gorgeous earrings and they really polish up the whole outfit. The last photo of her seated at a table is stunning.

Mary! You must know you look always looked beautiful and better with side parting.....softens and brings out your features.
ReplyDeleteAgree…the side part really makes such a difference.

I would like the dress better if the sleeves were made of fabric and not tulle, which makes the dress look like a housecoat to me
ReplyDeleteThe dress is embroidered organza, with a similar embroidered undergarment. Look closely. Quite superb. Her shoes are also embroidered with gold thread. She's our Australian Queen and we're all so proud of her grace, style and demeanour.
DeleteThe dress in itself is good, but asks for a simple hairdo, these curls are no good.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Queen Mary, she’s doing a fantastic job all round - family & country! We Australians are proud of her!
ReplyDeleteThe earrings are gorgeous and I think she looks pretty glamorous.
ReplyDeleteYes, no 'wow', however nicely fitting dress.
ReplyDeleteMagnifiques boucles d'oreilles qui ont l'air de reprendre les motifs de la robe !
ReplyDeleteQUEEN MARY is SO PRETTY like a breath of fresh air.
ReplyDeleteThey Queen Mary & King Frederick make a lovely & beautiful couple.
God bless them & their children
I'm very fond of her hairstyle, her earrings, the patterns (I don't know if they're gold thread) on her dress and her pumps.
ReplyDeleteShe looks radiant.
-Astrid.
According to information on another site an earlier president of France several years ago lowered the dress code for state visit events: no white tie (no tiaras), no black tie, only business suit.
ReplyDeleteMargot
She looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteDurant son séjour aucune toilette de Mary m a emballé.
ReplyDeleteTout est question de goût

This poliester dress looks very cheap on her. Such a shame France is always associated with exquisite materials.
ReplyDeletePolyester? I see none here. Mary’s coat dress is : semi-sheer chiffon decorated with graduated gold fil-coupé flowers! Whatever else it might be, cheap is not accurate. And no France is not always associated with exquisite materials (when was your last visit here ? … times have changed!).
DeletePolyester? I hardly think so.
DeleteRegardless of the material, she always looks graceful and poised, which is a true mark of style. Everyone has their own perspective on fashion, but I think her elegance shines through in this look.
DeleteTo be honest, Q.M. looks just like you and me on a day out.
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with that but From a queen on a state visit I expect more.
A me questo abito piace molto, nero e oro risultano eleganti. Mi ricorda molto quello rosa che Letizia indosso qualche anno fa.
ReplyDeleteSe posso l'unico appunto è il colore troppo chiaro dei capelli di Mary, dovrebbe mantenere il suo bel colore bruno.
I like the dress well enough - it’s interesting and a good fit, but the earrings just look like inexpensive mall brands that you can take on vacation and not worry about losing them. Like other commentators I’ve been underwhelmed with QM’s choices for this trip. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteUnderwhelming choices overall on this trip. I liked best her first day choices - the pant suit was really a bad idea (colour, cut, accessories, top … all looking uninspired). Someone said she should have picked the blue The Fold suit and indeed it would have looked so much better (not to mention diplomatic symbolism).
ReplyDeleteI think the main point of this visit was accomplished anyway (hard not to read the tea leaves) and that’d really what matters. Macron and the King have sealed their common position of support vis-a-vis the bully across the pond. Sartorial choices were certainly less relevant.
Lily
Perfect. And finally we see her eyes under the make-up!
ReplyDeleteWell, well, when I read all the bad comments here, I wonder what is going on. Queen Mary who never could go wrong with her outfits apparently managed to wear things that are not very much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteI think this dress is the best she has worn on this tour. I like the dress. I like her hair and I like her earrings. Like somebody said she looks better with her hair in a side part. She colored her hair more red because Spring is arriving. During last Summer she had also more copper tones and red in her hair. I like it.
You are right about Mary's hair. She has lightened her hair for the warmer months just like she did last year. As for the comment shift, it is apparent that there is always someone to pick on in these comments. It victim changes based on who is being featured.
DeleteLe bracelet de Mary est époustouflant
ReplyDeleteFroufrou
It should be taken into consideration that photos of a black gown in evening light are not the best circumstances for such a gown. Mary is dressing primarily for the event and not for photos. She looks wonderful, her hairstyle is nothing less than perfect for this gown. And that she colours her hair, what else, she is well above 50.
ReplyDeleteMary Donaldson è classe pura
ReplyDeleteMary looks fantastic as always. Sadly, no serious bling.

She looks great, I like the dress very much!
