On April 10, 2025, King Charles and Queen Camilla visited Ravenna, located in the northeastern Emilia-Romagna region, to take part in a ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the city’s liberation from Nazi occupation by Allied forces during World War Two. This event marked the final day of their visit to Italy. King Charles and Queen Camilla, together with President Sergio Mattarella and his daughter Laura Mattarella, attended a reception at the Town Hall of Ravenna.
King Charles, Queen Camilla, and Laura Mattarella also visited a traditional Emilia-Romagna market in Ravenna. Queen Camilla toured the Byron Museum, while later in the day, both the King and Queen boarded a plane at Forlì Airport to return to the United Kingdom.
On Wednesday, April 10, 2025, King Charles and Queen Camilla also held a private meeting with Pope Francis. The meeting, originally scheduled for Monday, had been postponed due to the Pope’s need for rest following a recent hospitalization for bilateral pneumonia.
No, this dress is too full in the skirt. Very good they could meet the Pope.
ReplyDeleteGlad they were able to meet with the pope, hope the king brought some of his organic honey as a gift.
ReplyDeleteI’m a beekeeper as well, there’s no such thing as “organic” honey. You can’t tell the bees where to fly. You can however chose carefully the place of the hive(s), treat them with less aggressive acids against mites and work the honey very prudent and in an impeccable clean environment.
DeleteI recommend to never buy honey in a supermarket. Buy it from the beekeeper, ask I you can have a look into the hive, be there when he extracts the honey from the combs. This is what we do and our whole neighbourhood buys our honey even though we have to charge a bit more. It’s not organic, but it’s local and they know where the honey comes from. And it’s real, pure honey, not sugary syrup.
Anna
Anna, I loved reading about your honey and would read much more eg if you had a bee blog! I live in a rural village and delight in local honey flavours. Could never buy supermarket honey again! Bee education is imperative for everybody because no bees is no fruit nor veg and life ceases! Congrats on being a beekeeper! - Emily
DeleteIt is true if you have the opportunity to buy honey from a local beekeeper you'll never want to eat honey from the super market again. We all know that eating or drinking (in your tea) honey that has been cultivated by a beekeeper is good for our health. I have always heard that the honey which is the most effective for our health is the one you can buy in the region where you live. Unfortunately if you live in a town in the neighbourhood of industrial activities it is not possible. Where I live one can buy real honey at the pharmacy. I noticed it are still the same honeymakers who make the honey my mother bought when I was a child. I even remembered the taste of it. It is more expensive at the pharmacy than in the super market but I am sure to buy a natural and pure product. In the honey one can buy at the super market one only taste the sugar.
DeleteTo continue, the queen in her signature style, colours are nice on her.
ReplyDeleteIn Italien so einen Anzug zu zeigen? Hat König Charles seinen Stil verloren? -Dorothe-
ReplyDeleteWelchen Anzug meinen Sie denn?
DeleteAlthough I like the top of the dress and it is very much in her usual style, it looks as if there’s too much material in the skirt, so it doesn’t sit well, which is a pity.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! Too long, & skirt too much material. Needs to be tailored! She needs a new stylist.
DeleteYes, the dress is too long & too much material in the skirt; needs to be tailored. She needs a new style & stylist. This dress style, which she always wear, isn't flattering.
DeleteBut imagine her taking a little pirouette, that full skirt would flare out beautifully. I like it!
DeleteShe does NOT need a new stylist! Let an 77 year old lady enjoy what she likes! She no doubt has access to expert help already and has chosen what she feels comfortable in.
DeleteI think there's not much wrong with Queen Camilla wearing a fuller skirt. It looks not bad on her. Might be that the dress is a tad too long, but the fullness doesn't bother me at all. It's a slight change of her usual style, and I applaud her for that teeny-tiny move. She has bespoke tailoring to her disposal, no worries about that. Designers like Bruce Oldfield, Fiona Claire, etc. do know exactly how to create fashion for her. No need to switch, or moan about her signature style(s).
DeleteI know she has many dresses in this style but this one in white is particularly nice for Spring. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteWell said, agree.
DeleteIt is so good to see His Holiness! As far as papal visits go, I am one for tradition. I am glad Charles and Camilla are in black.
ReplyDelete"[T]he Pope expressed his best wishes to Their Majesties on the occasion of their wedding anniversary and reciprocated His Majesty’s wishes for a speedy recovery of his health.”
The Pope’s best wishes were a reference to the King’s condition, following his hospitalisation at the end of March due to the side effects of treatment for cancer, which was diagnosed a year ago.
So glad Their Majesties were able to meet with the Pope. The photo of the 3 of them together is rather touching. The Queen's dress is lovely--the design details are beautiful. The cuffs at the wrist and the lighter circular stripe near the hem give the dress an added touch of elegance.
ReplyDeleteJanet
Camilla's cream/white dress looks lovely. I like that stripe near the hem. We can't see too much of her black dress but it looks good too. As far as style and design goes, both dresses seem to be yet more of her usual style which she looks good in anyway, so no complaints.

King Charles looks very tired in the last photo !!
ReplyDeleteEveryone in the United Kingdom loves Queen Camilla!
ReplyDeleteQueen Camilla's dress is very beautiful and springlike ... this pretty dress suits her perfectly.
ReplyDeleteA comment on the go.
ReplyDeleteI hope that Their Majesties enjoyed their stay in Italy.
Ravenna is a sublime and culturally enchanting city, too.
Pity that, given their taxing schedule , there was no time left to see those breathtaking sunset views at Gianicolo in Rome.
It is heartwarming to see pics of their private meeting with Pope Francis.
I viewed the departure ceremony from Forlì Airport as well.
I wish them all the best, particularly to King Charles.
May His journey to complete recovery be completed as soon as possibile.
I too wish that King Charles would always cherish and keep dear his Italian trips and especially the latest one in his heart.
I know he loves Italy and the Italian culture so much and I'm sure that he Ii loved by the Italians in return.
Their Majesties,
It has been a pleasure and a privilege to host You both over this magical four- day- stay.
I hope that Italy and the Italian warmth You experienced will keep You company in the days ahead of You and will be a sort of solace in the hardest times.
May You always remember Italians' big heart with a smile.
Grazie, ciao!!👍👏👋

La couleur blanche va à merveille à Camilla ; peut-être qu'après son retour au Royaume-Uni, elle va continuer à nous épater !
ReplyDeleteHappy 20st Anniversary to the King and Queen. Lovely dress, maybe a little too much fabric on the skirt part, but very nice indeed. Also, a nice surprise for them so be able to see the Holy Father after his long stay in hospital. Camilla stayed with tradition of wearing black.

Queen Camilla's skirt is too wide and too long. She needs a better dress maker.
ReplyDeleteCompared to Laura Matarella who is always dressed very simple but very stylish, Queen Camilla has no style at all.
Oh 22:11… you’re writing your opinion as if it’s fact! If you soften that a little with “I think…” or “my opinion is…” it will come across as less harsh for a hardworking 77 year old queen who no doubt enjoys what she’s wearing or she would change it! I think she’s found her style and is comfortable in it, and has no “need” to change to match another’s fashion preference.

DeleteThis is a truly nasty remark, try again.
You are unfairly comparing two totally different ladies with no respect for Q.Camilla's age and her dedication to work.
Camilla is an elderly woman but this does not mean she can't be energetic and committed to her public role.
She dresses the way she feels more confortable in .
She has coped with a packed schedule brilliantly in Italy.
I doubt other ladies her same age could have ever lived up to such challenging expectations.
Come on, let's be honest!
* I doubt whether...
DeleteI agree.
ReplyDeletePrince Charles could be holding her hand like a gentleman !!!!!
