On the third and final day of their state visit to France, King Frederik and Queen Mary were received by Mayor Anne Hidalgo in the garden in front of Paris City Hall (Hôtel de Ville). The King and Queen then walked with the mayor down to the Seine. Later, they were welcomed by the President of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, at the French National Assembly.
Afterwards, King Frederik and Queen Mary met with President Emmanuel Macron and Brigitte Macron for a tour of the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral, a symbol of French culture and history since its construction in the 12th century. The visit concluded with the King and Queen bidding farewell to the President and First Lady in the square in front of the cathedral.
On the final day of the state visit to France, Queen Mary of Denmark wore a grey outfit from the Danish brand Mark Kenly Domino Tan. To complete her look, she accessorized with a turquoise brooch that contrasted with the muted tones of her outfit. The turquoise brooch is from the French fashion house Dior.

ReplyDeleteNice clean lines on the queens jacket, colour okay. For me a big no to the culottes, never been a fan of them, they just don’t flatter. Love the FL blue coat and pretty blouse. The boots and booties not so much.

DeleteBeautifully styled jacket on Mary. Really lovely and it suits her. But are these culottes?!?! Or very very cropped trousers? From my perspective they’ve been wrong every time they’ve come back into fashion and I’m a bit flabbergasted to see them return yet again. The material looks a bit like linen but it’s too cold for that yet so possibly a silk- wool blend ? which is marvellous to wear but can explain the creases. Even so, for me this is the best Mary has looked all tour and it’s partly down to her hair which looks so beautiful back like that, to the colour, and the very Mary jacket. - Mary
ReplyDeleteSorry, I am not a fan of this outfit at all. The dull colour, the tie jacket and the culottes. Once again Queen Mary is outshine by Mme Macron in that delightful bright blue coat. Sadly not one outfit on this tour has had the wow factor. Well below Queen Mary's regular standard

DeleteWhile I appreciate the originality of this garment, I have to admit that it doesn't really appeal to me.
ReplyDeleteI would have preferred trousers or a pencil skirt instead of what appears to be a pantacourt.
What's more, even if I had to opt for this garment, a pair of pumps or heeled sandals would have been preferable. Unlike these boots, which I only like the colour of.
Apart from that, this chignon highlights her beautiful face, which I appreciate.
Overall, if I had to rate the clothes worn by the Queen during her stay in France, I'd give it a 7/10.
There are some nice ideas, but there are some mistakes when it comes to combinations. On top of that, I would have liked her to be more daring. She chose very « classic » outfits.
But as I always like to say, the important thing is that she likes it, and by extension, that she's comfortable in her own skin.

That´s a no from me. Those culottes shouldn´t exist. Not even Mary can make them look good. And the material (linen I suppose) is the worst possible material to make culottes from.
ReplyDeleteI actually like the cut of the jacket and the belted design. The boots are cool too. But not together with the "suit". And for the record - I do like linen, but it´s just not the right material for formal wear. The colour makes it look extra dull.

DeleteI rather like this outfit. Granted, it would like great as a skirted suit also. The color combined with the burgundy accessories is very sharp in my opinon. Just a little edgy with the culottes to give a modern flare. Not familiar with this designer, but will research it.

In my youth and in my language they were called 'Hosenrock', i.e.: pant-skirt and I find them in this ensemble, with this jacket and these boots and on a boat ( but I have to admit: also without these circumstances), simply wonderful. It unites the strengths of a skirt with the comfort of pants - what exactly is not to love, except that it is a sight we are not accustomed to? What I find unattractive, are the real culottes, somewhere between pants and underpants :-)) . Lovely ensemble, and excellent ponytail.

DeleteYES! I loved the culotte/gaucho trend from years ago and I think she looks great! Culottes are comfortable and with boots they look great. I imagine many of the commenters sitting around in their 'pedal pusher' crop pants criticising Mary's culottes and have to laugh!

An interesting jacket which would have looked so good with matching trousers. The shorts with tall suede boots just look wrong to me. I wonder if QM is trying out a new stylist? She has certainly given us plenty to talk about on this trip! (V.M.)

I don’t think this visit has showcased QM style and elegance as previous foreign trips,counting in when they were styled CP’s. might have done.

DeleteOh dear! Queen Mary rarely disappoints me but, from the waist down, this outfit is a big no. What in the world was she and her stylist thinking here--culottes are just a dreadful look. Then adding this boots--absolutely no. Had these been trousers or a skirt this look could have translated into a wow; instead it is a dud. The jacket and blouse are beautiful and I like the color combo. The jacket is tied perfectly and emphasizes Mary's trim waist and is also the perfect background for her brooch. Her hair looks fabulous. I love Mme Macron's blue coat--very pretty color--and white blouse. I'm not too sure about the bottom half of her outfit either--it looks like she is wearing leggings which I feel sure she is not. Still, the way the shooties look--it's not a good pairing. I think one of the nicest things about this whole visit is the obvious warmth and friendship between the 2 couples.

Janet, from what I can see, not leggings but well fitted narrow trousers and neat boots. I think that gives a nice balance and contrast to her jacket. I agree, there seems to be quite some warmth amongst them. - Mary

ReplyDeleteI like the wine red boots and the wine red Chanel handbag Queen Mary is wearing. I also like the jacket but would have worn it with a skirt. The warmt of the boots was probably welcome. Paris is not so far from Brussels and in Brussels it is cold in the morning and the wind feels icy.

ReplyDeleteDSC, me too like her outfit. It's very refreshing to see her being so confident and smart looking in her outfit which is completely out of the box or what was expected. Mrs Macron looks always stylish and wonderful whatever she is wearing.
