On April 20, 2025, King Charles and Queen Camilla joined members of the royal family for the Easter Mattins service at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

In attendance were Princess Anne, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and their son, James, Earl of Wessex, as well as the Duke of York and his ex-wife, Sarah, Duchess of York.

The Prince and Princess of Wales chose to spend the weekend with their children in Norfolk before school resumes next week and did not attend the service. Lady Louise, daughter of Prince Edward and the Duchess of Edinburgh, was also absent as she is currently studying at the University of St Andrews.

  1. Magnifique Camilla qui a une tête à chapeaux ; trop craquante la petite fille à la robe fleurie qui lui a offert un bouquet - Le comte James a bien grandi ; le duc d'York était-il vraiment présent ?!

And he is *very* handsome 😍 (though unfortunately you can't tell in these pics). I very much hope that he will become a working royal. -- Jane

  3. The light blue coat and hat on Queen Camilla look really nice today! As it’s often true, the coat on the Duchess of Edinburgh is too long and wide. Everyone else looks good and appropriate for the Easter service. I am disappointed that the Prince and the Princess of Wales decided not to join the rest of the Royal Family on this important religious holiday.

  4. I very much like the white ensemble of Princess Eugenie. Bummer that the coat of the Duchess of Edinburgh is swallowing her whole. Everybody else looks mighty fine as well. Of course.

Beautiful shade of blue for the queens signature look. P Anne, never disappoints in her rewear. P Eugenie cost fits well colour is good on her. P Bea, dress is okay, no to her shoes. All in all they look very British in their attire.

Half of the royal crowd shown here does not contribute anything that could be called even slightly necessary for the further existence of the monarchy. They could do quite well without the Yorks, if not better, because quality is still more important than quantity. This whole lot does not make it easy to remain a royalist. - But rant aside: the fashion aspect underwhelms me. Sophie's coat is too long and bulky, does not go well with the tiny hat. Eugenie has a nice hat, but what can be seen from her hair is untidy, Bea: also unkempt. Sarah Ferguson, if she has to be there, should learn to control her facial expression and posture in public. Very poor overall performance - with the main performers and hope for the monarchy simply absent.

    2. You do know that this is mainly a family gathering, not so much an assembly of "working royals". This is why Lady Sarah Chatto has been present, or the Yorks in their entirety. And the Wales' have excused themselves to have some more quality time with the children at their Norfolk country home Anmer Hall, before they will have to head back to school. I fail to see any "poor performance" on any of them.

I think this is just a family gathering to go to church together, and yess, they happen to be the Royal family.
By the way: When you ar not a royalist: why look at this site?

Dear DSC 18:38 and Anon 18:30: I don't expect anyone to agree about the performance, I only expect acceptance of differing opinions without talking about my person - just stick to the topic. I just happened to remember how these Easter family gatherings used to look like and in comparison to that this was, *for me*, quite a pathetic performance - again: nobody has to agree with me or "excuse" the Waleses for me. I know the facts.

What a weird statement to make about a family going to Easter Sunday service together. This is not a royal engagement outing.

Mi piace molto l’abito di Beatrice, un modello che adoro.

Très chic Eugénie, moins chic Sophie et surtout pas chic la Princesse Anne.

Beatrice for the win! Sophie’s coat is far too heavy and long, too wintery. The hat is cute, though. Eugenie’s coat is a bit roomy too. Anne and Sarah do Anne and Sarah. Camilla looks good, she has upped her shoe game recently, which is nice. She could have worn a larger brooch, but this one goes nicely with the colours. Is the royal blue hat Sarah Chatto’s? She’s always elegant, need to look for photos of her.

This color is so much better for Queen Camilla than on Thursday. Unfortunately the coat dress looks a bit too tight on the hips and the belly. The hat is better too than the dark green one on April 17. I like Princess Eugenie's coat but the style of her hat (although it is beautiful on itself) doesn't match the style of her coat. Her handbag is looking like a brown paper bag, perhaps new fashion, but I don't like it. Princess Beatrice's dress is too dark and boring. I like Sarah Ferguson's ensemble in Chanel style. The skirt is a bit too short and she should watch her poses. On the other hand Duchess Sophie's coat is much too long. When she buys a coat it looks good on the model because the model is taller than she is. She could have made it shorter. I wonder why she likes this ankle length ? Not elegant at all, doesn't she look in the mirror ? Her hat does not match the coat either. The other royal ladies' coats are not that long. Princess Anne didn't took out her Spring clothes of the ward robe yet. And then the black boots ! She didn't found the right tights and took quickly a pair of long boots to cover up her legs. She also has better coats than this one. The red one i.e. which is not very old I think and also another one which was new last year. I can't remember exactly how it looked like, but I know it was pretty. Somebody we do not see very much is Duchess Sophie's daughter, I already forget her name......I read the Prince of Wales and his family took a vacation together with the kids. I can understand their decision, quality time with the family is what all the young parents give priority to these days.

The duchess of Edinburgh she could do so much better cause she's such a good looking lady, but clothes always too long and too bulky. Model of Beatrice's dress wonderful but a very dull colour. Eugenie coat too bulky as well. Camilla looks great in her coat in spring colour ( but really too tight). Don't talk about Ann cause she is imv not interested in clothes but a wonderful hard working princess royal. We really miss Kate here to give this event fashion colour

Disappointed with the Wales, this is one day at the end of the vacation time to show up, since William will be become the head of the church. I would venture to say they are spending it with Catherine’s family, so all those cousins can be together, which is fine. Lady Louise is away at school. The Yorks need to show up as they desperately want back in the fold. Other than the king and queen, and lady Chatto, the rest seem to just grab whatever is in the closet. Regardless nice to see them.

Eugenie was the stand out for me. She looked so lovely.
I wonder if a lighter color would have been a better option for Beatrice though the color suits her beautiful hair.
Sarah for once looks tidy and somewhat put together.
I’ve given up on Sophie. She’s lost her flare and style. The coat is way too long,it’s almost trailing the floor. The pink hat is more suited to a lighter coat dress or coat, not a heavy burgundy winter coat.
Anne looks well in her ensemble something she’s worn many times before, and it suits her.
Camilla is far better in the light blue than the dark green dress and black cape she wore on Thursday.
I love Prince Edward and James ties.
    Lowri.
