On March 17, 2025, the Princess of Wales attended the Irish Guards’ St. Patrick’s Day Parade at Wellington Barracks in London. This was the first parade the Princess carried out solo as Colonel of the Irish Guards. The Princess wore a gold shamrock brooch made by Cartier and presented to her by the Irish Guards during the parade. Before the parade, the Princess presented medals to Irish Guards soldiers who had recently returned from deployment in Iraq.
The Princess missed last year's celebrations after being diagnosed with cancer. In her previous appearance at the parade in 2023, she was joined by the Prince of Wales. St Patrick’s Day, also known as the Feast of Saint Patrick, is a religious and cultural holiday celebrated on March 17, the traditional date of the death of Saint Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland.
she looks wonderful as ever. Every single detail is so well thought of.
ReplyDeleteYes, every single detail. I adore her hair style here! - and of course the Irish wolfhound’s excellent “just tumbled out of bed” hairstyle too. I most of all delight in seeing Catherine delighted in the photos!
DeletePerfektion!!! Ein wichtiger und schöner Tag der Erinnerung. Auch ein schöner Anlass Grüße zu senden an alle hier und allen eine stabile Gesundheit : ) -Dorothe-
ReplyDeleteDanke gleichfalls! Ihr entzückendes Deutsch läßt mich schmunzeln...
DeleteJa danke Dorothe und dasselbe für Sie. Ich lese gerne Ihre Kommentare.
DeleteShe looks nice in this colour green, very regal. I think I would of preferred a pattern in the scarf to break up the solid. Not sure if it would of looked better.
ReplyDeleteLa Princesse de Galles est toujours très élégante, le vert lui va à merveille et j'adore ce petit chapeau, cependant je préfèrerais le manteau moins long.

Nice hat and hair.

So elegant. But I am starting to think that her wonderful smile is the thing that stands out most and that makes her so special
ReplyDeleteWhy is princess Catherine celebrating this day, is she from Ireland?
ReplyDeleteNo, she isn't. But is the feast of these troops.
DeleteWhy are you so grouchy? Lots of people celebrate St Patrick’s Day who aren’t Irish…I’m one of them! 🍀
DeleteI can recommend that you read the text at the top. If you need more, refer to the British press.
DeleteO dear, you can get all information from the internet if you are interested
Delete@ Anon 16:50 I guess that reading the captions is not your strong point. Or perhaps you can't read (legit) so I'll help you. It says that she is Colonel of the Irish Guards. That's why she's celebrating with them.
Delete- Anon 9:13
She is the regiments Colonel. That should explain a lot, should it not? Northern-Ireland is part of the United Kingdom, therefore has its own regiment in the British Military - the Irish Guards (plus the . The Irish Guards are also one of the key players when it comes to Trooping the Colour, the yearly held birthday parade for the monarch. Together with four other guards (Coldstream Guards, Grenadier Guards, Welsh Guards, and Scots Guards) they form the Guards Division and are the monarchs personal regiments. Each year one of these regiments will be selected to feature as the main guard in Trooping the Colour. That means that an Ensign of that particular guard will be the chosen one to present the regiment's colour (flag) to the monarch on Horseguards Parade Grounds. Catherine, The Princess of Wales, was made Colonel of the Irish Guards in 2023. Prince William is Colonel of the Welsh Guards, Queen Camilla is Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, Prince Edward, The Duke of Edinburgh, is Colonel of the Scots Guards, and the Coldstream Guards do not have a royal Colonel.
DeleteShe is the Colonel of the Irish Guards, taking over from Prince William as he is now the Colonel of the Welsh. She always presented shamrocks even when she was there as the wife of the Colonel rather than in her own right.
DeleteDSC: thank you for your information!
DeleteCame back to add that the regiments mentioned in my comment above are foot troops. Now, of course the king also has mounted troops, of which there are two the most prominent ones (and they both form the Household Cavalry): The Life Guards, wearing a red tunic, polished curass, and white helmet plumes/horse hair equivalent. No royal Colonel for them. Then the Blues and Royals, wearing a dark blue tunic, polished curass, and red helmet plumes/horse hair equivalent. Their royal Colonel is Anne Princess Royal. You'll find the soldiers of these two as mounted guards at Horse Guards (which basically was the War Office in former times). The others, on foot, form the guards for the royal residences. But all of them do serve as well as regular soldiers, and many of them had been in zones of war and conflict, deployed in combat. No toy soldiers!
DeleteShe is also Princess of Northern Ireland. Catherine uses the title "Lady Carrickfergus" in a fuller version of her titles and styles, Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales, Countess of Strathearn and Baroness Carrickfergus.
Delete;))
ReplyDeletePerfetta, una gioia vederla ♥️
ReplyDeleteAawhh 🥰 just lovely to see her smiling
ReplyDeleteClassic well-dressed Catherine: lovely!
ReplyDeleteAgree!
DeleteWhat great look for her. So glad to see her there.

Elégante dans ce manteau avec son bibi dont la couleur verte est parfaite pour assister à ce défilé de la Saint-Patrick 2025 ; magnifiquement bien coiffée !
ReplyDeleteCatherine looks wonderful but I’m here for the magnificent dog!
ReplyDeleteFabulous hat and a great outfit altogether. Good to see her looking so well
ReplyDeleteThe Princess looks perfection. The coat is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHer hair looks superb
She is simply glowing and more important she looks well and healthy. It’s wonderful to see. Well done Ma’am , well done .
I agree with you completely, Ava.
DeleteIt's a treat to see Pss Catherine out and about looking so well and in high spirits.
I read that her gorgeous updo was styled as a nod to Ireland or something like that.
What counts most, is that the Princess of Wales is held in such high esteem wherever she goes.
People genuinely show her their affection and admiration.
I wish her continued good health and a life path paved with joy and success, both as a working royal and , above all, as a wife and mother.
She really deserves to shine bright after her 'darkest hour'.
I just want to share a very personal thought:
well, I do believe that diamonds may happen to fall down in the dust and their shimmering may get lost but when they are rescued and brought to light again , when they get polished , they shine even brighter than before.
That's the way diamonds are drawn out of mines, after all.
They look stained and dim but they can re- gain their brightness with proper treatments and care.
Diamonds will stay diamonds forever.
Hope I've been able to convey what I feel.👍
Hugs for you.
I always love her St Patrick Day’s coats. Love the solid green. I imagine this regiment is happy to have her as their Colonel.
ReplyDeleteSame here.

This coat style with a narrow waist and the lower part a bit wider is I think so muchnetter and elegant for her figure than the straight double breasted coats she normally wears. Kate looks really wonderful and I adore her hat.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your detailed explanation, DSC. I learned more about the different guards today.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
ReplyDeleteThere are lots of shades of green; the coat is too dark ;the scarf is boring. Kate seems to wear heavy makeup; the eyebrows are scary. Hairstyle looks nice. In Australia it is the 3 leaf clover; and a 4 leaf clover is lucky. The dog looks lovely; saw a few of those at Crufts (Tara)
ReplyDeleteThis is a super flattering coat. It gives Catherine shape with a clinched waist and the square shoulder gives it balance. It reminds in shape of the blue coat Catherine wore at Christmas 2023. This style is far more flattering than the dropped waist of low pockets. Her hair design was taking it to another level of attention to detail by shaping it on the Celtic triquetra logo.
ReplyDeleteLowri.
100% fabulous!!! Catherine looks beautiful and her outfit is perfect for today's event. The style of her coat is very flattering to her and her hairstyle is gorgeous--cannot imagine how her hairdresser created either, maybe the hairdresser should be called a hair artist!
ReplyDeleteJanet
Catherine looks elegant, immaculately groomed, beautiful.

What a lovely sight! She looks impeccable happy and healthy. I'm so glad to have her back.
ReplyDeleteLuna
What a great hat! It's perfect for the occasion. The coat has a nice shape, not too narrow. A couple of inches shorter would have made it even better. I'd love to have seen a more modern shape of boot heel. I know there's a danger in following fashion in terms of long term wearability but sometimes a girl has to play
ReplyDeleteCatherine is a nice Irish lady!
ReplyDeleteSo Kate loves Ireland, what a nice surprice!
