Nice diplomatic nod for the Danish couple to be wearing red, white and blue between them, and Dior. I think a straighter skirt may have worked better for Mary (my personal taste).

Yes, this was my afterthought after my post about jacket and skirt going separate paths. Both pieces don't look like belonging together, just worn together.

Paloma.

Now I am curious - are there more naysayers ("totally inappropriate skirt length, how could she, in her age!" or more of those who who think "well, she definitely can wear that length with those unbelievable legs, irrespective of her age"? I belong to the latter and I also think that it makes good proportions for her small frame. Of course, half-kneecap length would have been a good compromise as well :-) . I am not keen on this type of skirt with this type of jacket on Mary, but basically, both ladies look elegant and good.

The length of Mme Macron’s skirt doesn’t suit her and that has nothing to do with age or her legs. It gives her - together with the top of her outfit- an overall boxy look. A longer skirt would make this outfit more elegant.

    2. Well said, Anon 21 14 You have given a perfect description of the problem with Mme Macron’s outfit. Of course, she has great legs for any age but a short skirt with neutral tights and high heels isn’t the best look. On the other hand, Queen Mary’s skirt is a little too long and wide

    3. Anonymous31/3/25 22:34

19:12, the length of Mme Macron’s skirt suits her which has everything to do with her amazing legs. Slightly longer to the knee would also work but I love that at her age she’s doing what she wants and looking marvellous doing it!

I can't put my finger on it, but don't consider this Dior combination successful on QM; maybe it's the length of the skirt or the monochrome colour. QM can do much better

Agree, she’s almost always more coordinated than this which doesn’t mean that I don’t think it’s very elegant! Is all that hair Mrs Macron’s own? Whish I had at least half that much. So fun looking at the ladies outfits! Carina

I think it is the length of the jacket. If it was an inch or two shorter it would fall at a better place on her hips.

I think the Dior suit is a great choice for a state visit—it's classic and elegant. Sometimes, monochrome works better than people give it credit for, and Queen Mary always pulls off sophisticated looks, even if they’re not as daring. It's a refined style, not about being flashy.

Je me demande si Mary parle français ???

Really Dorothe- I think Mrs.Macron is trying way too hard to look young.
The skirt length is not looking flattering on her, no matter now nice her legs are, it looks unbalanced inmo.
Queen Mary looks perfect, I like the suit with the big skirt ( a Camisole with a little colour accent would improve it even more.

It was only to be expected that Queen Marie should set her sights on designers from the land that welcomed her.

This Dior ensemble is elegant and simple. Nothing complicated, and even less sophisticated.

The look is simple and effective.

In all honesty, I have a great deal of admiration for Madame Macron. At 71, she looks well groomed. Wearing such heels with skill, wow!

They all look good and very happy to see each other. Very thoughtful of Mary to wear Dior. This is a very classic outfit. It suits her and it is elegant but she has so many better outfits than this one to wear. Mme Macron looks more modern in a way (although I wish her skirt was 5cm longer, the upper and lower part don't look balanced somehow). Looking forward to the evening gowns now!

These are without a doubt, two of the most chic and elegantly styled royal ladies of Europe. However, we quibble at small things (when we give other royals unnecessary passes). But I agree these two outfits are not their absolute best. As for the length of Madame Macron's dress, it could drop a tad lower. But if I had legs like that - no matter what age - you better believe I would be showing them off. She is amazing at how fit she remains and I admire her greatly for that. She probably works at it. And frankly I would honestly rather see outfits like Madame Macron's than those long, floppy, florals that a few our royals ladies insist on wearing .

I was hoping for a at least one Dior ensemble,Mary did not disappoint ! Beautiful craftsmanship in this suit. I’m not too enamoured with the white tipped pumps but that just a small factor. I also love that Mary as already started playing with the Pearl Parure set,by wearing just the stud element of the earring. Really looking forward to see what Mary serves up tonight!

At first I didn’t like the queens suit. But after looking at the photos closer, it is quite becoming the way the fabric flows, not stiff. Depending on the way the light falls the colour does seem richer not as washed out. Overall both ladies look great.

Queen Mary looks elegant and chic in her Dior suit! It is beautiful on her--fitted perfectly. I love her choice of pearls to accessorize her suit--a very classic look. I actually like Mme Macron's suit and think she looks good. Would I have her lower her hem? Yes, a bit but that's just my personal taste.

Could it be that the jacket needs to be tighter, than there is a bigger contrast between jacket and ample skirt, which makes both better.

The king wears the "rosette de grand-croix de l’ordre du Mérite": decoration associated with the highest rank of the French National Order of Merit. The Grand Cross (Grand-Croix) is the most prestigious level within this order, which recognizes distinguished civil and military service to France. The rosette is a small, decorative knot of ribbon, typically blue for the National Order of Merit, and it is worn on the lapel to signify the recipient's rank. The insignia of the Grand Cross includes a large, enameled star worn on the left side of the chest and a sash worn over the right shoulder, from which the badge of the order is suspended.

While specific details about the pins worn by President Macron and King Frederik during this visit are not readily available, such pins typically symbolize national identity, honorifics, or commemorate special events. For instance, leaders often wear national flags, insignias, or other significant symbols on their attire during official engagements.

I'm 58 years old and one of those who thinks there is an age for everything and when you get over 30, 40 skirts shouldn't be shorter then kneelenght. Seing wrinkly knees are not a good sight, but god damned Mme Macron have great legs and knees. So had I had her knee and legs you can be damned sure also I would where skirt over the knees.
