A memorial ceremony was held to mark the 80th anniversary of the accidental bombing of Jean d'Arc School. The school in Frederiksberg was mistakenly bombed at the end of WWII.
On March 21, 2025, Queen Margrethe attended a memorial service commemorating the 80th anniversary of the accidental bombing of Jean d'Arc School (Den Franske Skole). The service was held at Frederiksberg Church in Frederiksberg. Upon arrival, Queen Margrethe was welcomed by 92-year-old Inge Monberg, a former student of Den Franske Skole, who presented flowers to the Queen.
The service was conducted by Bishop Peter Skov-Jakobsen from the Diocese of Copenhagen, Bishop Czeslaw Kozon from the Catholic Church in Denmark, and Parish Priest Lars Gustav Lindhardt from Frederiksberg Parish. Jean d'Arc School was bombed by the Royal Air Force on March 21, 1945, during Operation Carthage, after pilots mistakenly identified the school as their intended target. The bombing claimed 116 lives, including 87 children.
J'adore la touche fuchsia avec le gris de son ensemble et de son chapeau ; sa broche ainsi que ses boucles d'oreilles sont elles composées de rubis montés sur or ?!
ReplyDeleteI'm always glad to see Queen Margrethe, though this memorial ceremony calls to mind such a tragic event .
ReplyDeleteShe looks great .
It's a reminder of what sort of unbearable disasters conflicts entail.
All wars are pure madness, no matter the time and place when they occur.
Always well dressed, the fushia colour brightens her face. Interesting brooch. A delight to see this classy lady.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely Queen Margrethe looks--I love the pairing of the fuchsia blouse with the gray suit. Very chic! I also love her hat and love how it looks with her suit. She is such an elegant lady and its always a pleasure to see her.
