On March 20, 2025, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, was received in audience by Crown Prince Regent Haakon at the Royal Palace in Oslo. Crown Princess Mette-Marit was also present at the meeting. President Zelenskyy and Crown Prince Regent Haakon discussed strengthening cultural ties between the two countries.
After the audience, which took place in the Arcade Room at the Palace, the Ukrainian President visited the Storting (Norwegian Parliament), where he was welcomed by Speaker of the Storting Masud Gharahkhani. Crown Princess Mette-Marit wore a scarlet pleated shirtdress by Gabriela Hearst.

Nice dress and color. I think it would have been better with heels. Nice to see them again. MM really looks good.

Je n’aime pas cette robe qui n’avantage pas la princesse.
ReplyDeleteHmmm I can’t say it is the best look, though the colour is nice on her. It does look very comfortable and long enough that stockings wouldn’t be needed. Her necklace looks interesting.

ReplyDeleteWhat are your impressions of the Princess’ dress and shoes?
DeleteMM looks lovely in that dress but wish she had worn heels
ReplyDeleteI think she didn't want to tower too much over the president, who is not so tall. MM is taller than him even without heels.
Delete-B.
You can tell MM is not well although she is trying very hard not to show it.
ReplyDeleteI think this dress is simple and pretty.
ReplyDeleteWhat really catches my eye is the colour: red.
I think it's a lovely colour for her and one she should wear more often.
Especially as it contrasts well with her blonde hair.
However, as I've read, this dress would have looked better with a pair of pumps or heeled sandals.
In the same vein, I'd like to share an observation. I've noticed that royals rarely, if ever, wear heeled sandals. I've noticed that they have a clear preference for pumps. Why do you think this is?
Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks in advance.
- Astrid.
Le rouge va merveilleusement bien à Mette-Marit mais pas pour cette robe que je vois très longue ; avec des talons ou même des petites bottes, elle aurait été plus avantagée ; belle quand même !
ReplyDeleteNice red colour, men the dress makes her big!
ReplyDeleteOh, my god how mean. We did learn how to behave as kids, right?
DeleteDear Anonymous,
Deletethis is a serious poster.
Maybe you landed on the wrong place.
This is no pub where you feel you can dare bully a woman while sipping on your beer
Shame on you.
What if someone should address you just like that or even worse?
16.34. I am talking about the dress, not her shape! Some clothes make you look bigger, even if your are not!
DeleteA hard poster to comment on for me and for different reasons.
ReplyDeleteMy immediate sensation is : here are two warriors , CP Mette- Marit and Mr Zelensky, fighting to have back what should belong to them in their own right , health and homeland.
Somehow they both share the fatigue, the pain, the sorrow but never give up hope and that's what counts most.
A moving meeting in my very personal view.
I pray for them both and for them to have back what they are battling for🙏
Just an addition:
I wish there would be benevolent comments on CP Mette- Marit's outfit.
She is likely to be on some medicaments which do not have a good impact on her usual fabulous body shape.
It was expected.
She is trying hard to honor her royal duties and medicaments help her to keep her symptoms under control.
They may have downsides, though.
I will make neither fashion "reviews" nor political remarks on this poster.
I feel that's not up to me to do so under these particular circumstances.
Thanks P. the original.
DeleteTwo people bearing pain whilst putting on a brave face.
I wish them both “courage”.
You are quite right. MM is on medication that makes you swell up and retain water. She also doesn't have the health to exercise. We should be kind against each others we never know what we are battling and going through. Not every illness, struggle is on the outside.
DeleteOh, dear @ Deadeggs, it's so nice to see you commenting again!
DeleteI know you are going to think that I'm making a strange parallelism...
When I was a student in London and entered Westminster Abbey for the very first time,, I headed off to the famous Poets' Corner.
I felt so honored!
I saw a lot of graves of famous poets and writers but just one thing Is still impressed in my mind.
It crossed my mind again upon seeing this poster today:
" With courage to endure".
Yes, It was engraved on the marble , just on the Bronte (sorry for missing the right character on my keyboard now) sisters memorials.
I will never forget that.
Any time I happen' to get into Westminster Abbey again (not so often, alas), I still head off there and sit for a while, my eyes on that simple sentence but with such a dense meaning.
Centuries may pass by but that sentence still stays there as a reminder for anyone , no matter what life brings to each person.

DeleteI love the dress and think it suits MM very well. The flat shoes are absolutely fine. It’s a more casual look for sure but why not? (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteI agree why not. A casual look, comfortable, comfy shoes, great colour, lovely hair, gracious lady.
DeleteI agree, I am sure that medication has an influence on Mette Marit‘s body, however, she could have dressed more to her advantage, as she normally does. Perhaps she chose red on purpose this time and had no alternative. This red dress does not suit her, my opinion, but she might not care in this particular situation.

彼が何を着て来るか分かっていたので決めやすかったでしょうね。
The flat shoes are really fine, it is all a question of being accustomed to the silhouette or not - and it would be high time to wear flats more often for daytime, at least. - I don't like red on MM, and sure not in this quantity. If they are warriors or not, is not the topic for me here on this blog because this is a fashion blog - but even if it were, I would not want to compare one's individual fight for health (under the best care one can have) and another one's fight for the existence of his country and nation. Utmost respect for Zelensky.
Paloma.
To those complaining that's she's not wearing heels. Have you ever been thinking it could be out of respect since she is so tall and Zelenskyy is not?
ReplyDelete@16:33
DeleteEhm, what? So does that mean she doesn't respect Queen Sonja because she is so tall and still wore heels while in her presence?
A very good point indeed, bravo.🌞Virginia
Delete19:08 When did Sonja become a man?
Delete@22:17
DeleteWas that your point, that she doesn't wear heels when meeting men who are shorter than her? Because we won't have te search long to debunk that claim ;-)
Hi AUSTRIA, when will this country welcolme the President of Ukraine, Wolodymyr Selenskyj?!!!?!!!
ReplyDeleteOnwards and upwards politicians, the time has come NOW!!!!!!
I keep going back to review the photos, she is wearing a style she wears often, high neckline and I like on her. I am wondering if there was a pattern to break up the red, like a nice floral, or swirls that it would look different on her. Shoes can elevate an outfit, but for this visit the flats are just fine.
ReplyDeleteThe red color is pretty and imo suits her well. Maybe higher heeled shoes would help elevate the look, regardless of that fact, I feel she looks lovely.
