King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima are currently on a four-day state visit to Kenya. On the second day of their visit, the King and Queen visited the town of Naivasha. They toured an Inland Container Depot (ICD), a key location for dry export products. During their visit, they learned more about the transition from air freight to sea freight.
The King and Queen also visited a Dutch company based in Kenya. The company invests in a healthier and more sustainable local ecosystem and provides childcare and education for its employees’ children. Additionally, the King and Queen took part in a discussion session, where civil, military, and government institutions exchanged expertise on topics such as water, climate, and security.
Etro Paisley Print Silk Blouse and Long Skirt
Really like this re-wear; very appropriate for this visit
ReplyDeleteAgreed. She looks great, though I don’t think the belt adds to the stylishness of the outfit. Lovely photos of the couple too
DeleteMaxima looks wonderful in this Etro outfit. The belt buckle might be a little much - lol - but I see it as a replacement for jewellery. The colours suit her beautifully and it all works well with their environment.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad they went to Naivasha. It's a beautiful place, located in the bottom of the Great Rift Valley which is an amazing natural location to begin with. We used to go there on weekends for fishing, and countless more times during the 17 years we lived in Kenya. Just a short 90 minute drive from Nairobi.
PS. It isn't shown on this blog, but Maxima wore some lovely pieces for her night-time arrival in Nairobi, that were designed by Kenyan fashion and homeware designer Anna Trezbinski. Anna's mother-in-law, British author Errol Trezbinski who wrote many novels about the British colonials living in Kenya, was a friend of my mother.

I agree with you about her outfit. She looks great, but I think the belt is a bit much. That being said, it is very "Maxima". I really love her hat.
DeleteInteresting information on the region--thanks!
How interesting. Looking forward to reading Errol Trezbinski.

Really really nice outfit!
ReplyDeleteShe looks great, doesn't she. Well dressed, beautiful colours, interested in her environment, the people, genuinely friendly.
ReplyDeleteAgree in all that you say! A
DeleteQueen Maxima is indeed a beautiful woman.
ReplyDeleteI love her red nail varnish. Red is my favourite nail colour.
Beautiful couple and well matched with outfits in beige tones.
-Astrid.
The Etro designs are one of a kind.
ReplyDeleteWould have preferred a shorter skirt here, and not a straw handbag, which is more appropriate for a day to the beach.
Interestingly enough, that straw handbag Maxima is carrying is commonly found in all areas of Kenya, not only the beach. The shape is quite distinct and people use it as a handbag or to do their market shopping. The one Maxima has is probably a designer one, but the local ones are made of sisal or palm leaves, or other natural fibres. In Swahili, it is called a 'kikapu', which is the word for basket.

Nice coordination with the kings suit. Perfect outfit for the occasion. Got to love the huge buckle and earrings. She does it with ease. Would love to see what colourful jewelry she brings home.
ReplyDeleteHello, @-Anon. 9:13,
ReplyDeletethank you for your beautiful, knowledgeble and informative comments.
I find them extremely interesting and hope you' ll give other details on people and places throughout this Kenyan trip from the Dutch Royal Couple.
My immediate impression upon seeing these posters is that while this is undoubtebly an official state visit, a lesser degree of formality seems to be the protocol key approach.
I feel a warm and relaxed atmosphere all around .
President Ruto and First Lady are such engaging and smiling people.
They welcomed the Royal Couple so kindly!
Also the locals are so friendly.
I think Maxima is in her elementi , being warmth and kindness to anyone her main trademarks.
I also miss the poster of the Royal Couple's arrival in Kenya, which I saw elsewhere.
Maxima has been sporting a wonderful and colourful outfits array, stunning, refined and well blended in with the marvellous surroundings.
The Etro combination is quite nice. Personally I don’t like the material and size of her belt, earrings, bag … They distract too much and make the outfit too casual for the occassion in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteDear Commenters. First many of you found her jewelry at the banquet too much. Now that she is more in a relaxed outfit + straw hat + bamboo earrings + straw handbag, you find it too casual. I wouldn't be in a any queens place these days, you can never please to everyone. Those who are talking here of the colonial time in the past, King Willem Alexander ancestors had only colonies in the Southern part of Africa. The Brits had more colonies in Africa.
ReplyDeleteYou make an excellent point. A great deal of research and work are put into these visits, and clothes, accessories and jewelry are planned well in advance. They coordinate with the host country so they know the level of formality of each event. There must be some degree of individuality permitted for everyone.
Delete11.47 : Your comment doesn’t make any sense. Opinions can vary, plus you can’t compare opinions regarding different occassions… QM in all her excessiveness rarely hits the mark on how to dress for the occasion.
ReplyDeleteLovely dress on Q M!
ReplyDeleteMaxima looks good. Just right for this trip.
