On the second day of their state visit to Cyprus, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima hosted a concert and reception at the Cyprus Theatre in Nicosia for President Nikos Christodoulides and his wife, Philippa Karsera, as well as local authorities and other parties involved in the state visit. The event served as a gesture of appreciation for the hospitality extended to them during their visit. The concert featured harpist Remy van Kesteren, performing alongside Cypriot musicians.
Natan Dress
From the neck upwards, lovely and charming as always. Unfortunately, the rest of her is unrecognizable within a rigid Natan shell. Why, oh why :-))
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of this dress. I do like the First ladies' black gown a lot.

It's actually not a bad dress given that it's by Natan. I think it could have more shape to it but the colours are lovely on Q. Max. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteThe idea of the dress is good, the execution of it doesn’t quite work. Though the fabric is lovely, it doesn’t work for me with this dress. Too stiff, or too structured? I don’t know.
ReplyDeleteThese stiff fabrics seem to be a favourite of Natan. You see the same kind of thing worn by Queen Mathilde. No idea why. The colour and style of this dress is lovely but the stiff fabric totally spoils it. Queen Maxima looks great
DeleteNot sure about the dress but Maxima's hair and makeup are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteNot all is dark colors, haha my auto correction!
ReplyDeleteI didn't love this dress, but I usually don't like Natan. Hair is nice. Ik curious to read your comments

Oh no what the heck was she thinking! But hey, hair looks great!
ReplyDeleteshe only does her hair on state visits
DeleteQueen Max looks spectacular!
ReplyDeleteYes fantastic. That is my opinion as well in spite of the so-called rigid material. This dress is a success IMV. More fluid material on another day ....
DeleteLove the photos of the king and queen. Queen Maxima looks so youthful and cheerful here. But her ankles look uncomfortable. Maybe shoe needs to be 1/2 size larger or an inch shorter heel would look better and probably feel better and still give a chic look. First lady of Cyprus had worn stunning ensembles throughout this visit. Very classy.
ReplyDeleteI agree Virginia re the shoes. I also notice that Mary frequently wears extremely high shoes - and it doesn’t look more elegant to be so high and it does look incredibly bad for foot/tendons. The poor feet have to last for the whole life and deserve a lower heel and more space to move in the shoe. I do like the colour of these shoes and the tights with the golden yellow dress (stunning colour, doubtful Natanish design).
DeleteThere seems to be a bit of a mismatch in the dress codes between the two couples, which is more obvious in the men. However both ladies look elegant in two different ways. The First Lady cannot go wrong in black velvet. She looks wonderful in a quietly understated way. Maxima also looks good in the bright gold satin - so reflective of her personality - but I don't like the shape of the dress on her. It's too wide from the waist down. It looks better on the model.
ReplyDeleteShe and WA make a very attractive couple.

The best
DeleteFinally, a good hairdo. Why can she do it more often? she has the means, and the time.
ReplyDeleteBecause evidently she doesn’t want to. Yes she has the means and the fact that she doesn’t have a professional style everyday most likely means she’s just happy as she is. Which I love about her!
DeleteThis looks like a hair cut ( at last!), well done.
ReplyDeleteÀ beautifull dress, alas the dark stockings and brown suede shoes are too dark, gold would have been better.
Agree 100% about the dark stockings and the suede shoes, a mis-match with the shininess of the dress and not working for me as evening wear, ditto for the shawl she's carrying. The First Lady has dressed charmingly for the entire visit, brava! S.M.
DeleteGorgeous, she looks gorgeous!! That color against her face and her golden hair! Wow what a look!! And her hair is gorgeous too.
ReplyDeleteMaxima has been beaming throughout this official visit.
ReplyDeleteI love every single outfit she wore as much as all the pairing accessories, hair styles and makeup.
Flawless, classy and absolutely beautiful prresentations.
Stunning colours all around.
Pretty dress but I would eliminate the silver sequin appliques. Not needed.

I cannot understand Natan designs or why our 2 Benelux queens wear them so frequently. The clothes are very rarely pretty, well fitting or flattering. In this case the colour is great on Maxima - but I cannot understand how a dress at this price point has such a shockingly poor side seam with no attempt to pattern match. It appears to be poorly cut and poorly sewn - or perhaps, it’s exactly according to design but why this design ? As per almost every Natan appearance whether on Maxima or Mathilde, the queen looks beautiful - but it’s despite the dress not because of it.
ReplyDeletePretty dress and she looks gorgeous.
-Astrid.
This dress looks good, I like the color palate. I like the length of the dress, not so sure about the color of her shoes.
ReplyDelete少し歳嵩に見えますね。アップリケの位置を変えたら違った印象になると思います。
ReplyDeleteElegance sober
