On March 14, 2025, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden attended the seminar "How We Save The Baltic Sea - From Words To Action" (Så räddar vi Östersjön – från ord till handling) at the Stockholm International Fairs (Stockholmsmässan) in Älvsjö. This year's seminar focused on the environmental status of the Baltic Sea and ongoing efforts to improve the situation and develop a blue economy. At the event, Princess Victoria wore a blue suit by Veronica Beard.

Very beatiful outfit!!!

ReplyDeleteOh, she's been a busy bee this past week for sure. That suit looks good on her.
ReplyDeleteI don´t like the cut of this suit. But if it has to be this suit, I think it needs to be worn with very light shoes - sandals, ballerinas or loafers. It doesn´t work with boots. Also, I´m not really a fan of the triangular gap at the jacket´s front - kind of draws unnecessary attention to the trousers´s fly area.
ReplyDeleteThe bun is placed fairly high today, I see, but I don´t think it´s an improvement. Looks like an elderly grandma´s.
Sorry, Victoria, but this is another unflattering outfit. Quite the streak, unfortunately.
Agree totally. Victoria needs a new stylist. Ac
DeleteHello, @Vanessa.
DeleteI really like the way you explained why you do not like this outfit on Victoria.
Yes, corroborating one's view with valid points is always a good way of interacting with others.
I respect all that you said though I do not agree about your suggestions re:the shoes and the bun issue ( if it is to be considered as one).
I remember seeing this same jacket in black on Princess Marie (in two different models by the same brand) as of late.
Yes, you are right about the fly area .
I think the suit and the jacket in particular are gorgeous as to the colour and overall fit .
I would only change something in the above said fly area, actually.
Maybe Princess Marie wore exactly the same suit but the fit looked immaculate probably due to the black colour minimizing the optical perception of something off in the trousers.
I love the boots , which I guess are navy ankle boots well teamed with the trousers length and overall look imo
I do not like the zipped "pouch" or whatever It Is defined, as it calls to my mind one of those carryall pouches you usually take with you when travelling or just to have some basic makeup products at hand.
Now, the bun!
Yes, it may look an incredibily old-fashioned style sometimes- or it can just be all about having a ready to style option to tame her frizzy (by the look of it in the pics) hair.
You know, frizzy hair is hard to treat.
I can understand that Victoria is likely to avoid a common straightening treatment with keratine, mainly due to its impact on hair and scalp at times.
There are different keratine treatments but the one providing long term visibile results often causes hair to weaken and fall off as well.
I guess she just wants to look neat and tidy but she does not want to / does not have much time to spend on her hair styling.
As unflattering as it may look, I think it is a good compromise, after all, also considering that she often has to come up in military gear and a bun is all that she can wear under her cap.
* keratin
DeleteHi P,
DeleteGreat comment, thanks for your response. I agree with what you said about her hair, and we know she has difficult, frizzy hair that is indeed hard to manage. The bun solves the issue, and it is a tidy look with her hair under control and out of her face. I´ll take that over unkempt, stringy hair any day.
My point is however, that there are other ways of achieving this without looking this boring. Victoria´s go-to solution in her younger years was her trademark ponytail, and I think it suited her much better. She could still put her hair in a ponytail, at least sometimes for variation, or she could do other type of updos or use hair accessories, or put up half of her hair or whatever. But for some reason she decided like 12 years ago or so to almost always have a bun now. I think she´s modelling her life after Denmark´s queen Margrethe, who ALWAYS had her hair up the same way. The other two reigning queens that Victoria likely viewed as role models were Beatrix and Elisabeth II, both of which had chosen hairstyles in their younger years that they then stuck to for the rest of their lives (and none of them looked especially flattering, imo).
Maybe Victoria prioritizes a regal, professional look over showcasing her beauty.
To me however, Victoria is a beautiful woman and it pains me to see her look so dull. Her hair is frizzy but it is also wonderfully thick and can be styled in a million different ways and look better than this.
Equally, her outfits rarely are flattering and usually look bad. The sad thing is that they often look try-hard and like the result of styling, but rarely enhance her beauty or make her shine. Instead, she often looks either costume-y or outdated, her choices are seldomly suited for her body type. She can wear almost any colour, she is in great physical shape and has worn much better styles before. In her 20s and 30s, she often wore beautiful (and simple) sheath dresses and classy cuts and flattering tops. She has a wardrobe full of timeless items that she could re-use and re-mix. Instead, she now either wears weird pant suits in jarring colours, bold patterns or weird cuts, she likes bow blouses and ankle boots, or - on the few occasions she wears dresses - she usually opts for frilly prairie dresses that do nothing for her. I cannot understand how all this can be the result of professional styling. It´s a pity really.
Victoria is my favourite royal, and I´m happy to see and follow her. Unfortunately, I hardly ever think she looks good in what she wears, and I usually hope (upon finding a post about her) that it hopefully won´t be too bad this time.
Hi,@ Vanessa, thank you.
DeleteI think you hit the mark again: maybe Victoria prioritizes a regal, professional look over showcasing her beauty.
This is the key point imo.
I assume that she has entered a new stage in her life when shouldering an increasing number of official duties from her father is counterbalanced by an increasing conservative sartorial switch.
Yes, I remember that time when she styled her hair in a nice ponytail and I agree with you on other possible options to keep her mane tidy but with a personal take on modern styles.
As much as I can esteem Queens like Elizabeth, Beatrix and Margrethe, I really hope Victoria
will stray a little from their stiff hair style paths.
I also agree on her great physical shape and strangely enough this could be another key point of our discussion.
From my own experience, a good body shape can have downsides when It comes to prove how good you are at your job.
I know this may sound incredibile.
An attractive physical body shape allows you to wear potentially everything, from timeless pieces to more risque' outfits but It may be seen as an obstacle because people might focus only on your body and physical appearance and not on your competence and expertise.
Here comes the contraddiction:
you are asked to show up impeccably dressed and coiffed in public but you know that you' re going to walk on a very slippery road.
They will scrutinize your every move ,all eyes on you, relentlessly, inevitably on you.
At the same time, you are put to the test for what you can really do at work.
I noticed that Princess Victoria has an incredibily well toned and muscly body (I think she has the best body shape amongst royal ladies) but this might not be the Ideal presentation when being expected to fit and perform the highest royal role in the future.
I mean that if she sported now those skirts or sheath dresses to her official engagements , this would inevitably lead the public to focus on her physical beauty more than on her work.
And we know that she is a hard working royal.
All this may sound so strange but I know what I am talking about.
When beauty may overshadow your skills , sometimes, then you need to resort to understated fashion choices even though they could be a sacrifice and not in tune with what you really want to wear.
I think Victoria is aware of all her physical potential but tries to disguise it somehow behind oversize pantsuits, prairie dresses and other moot sartorial choices.
Of course, this Is just my perspective.
Maybe she doesn't simply want to take any risks when coming up at official events and chooses her odd fashion options as a sort of comfort zone .
The more she grows into her future role as a Queen and Head of State, the more she will turn to more professional and demure outfits, I'm afraid
She has to fulfil her military obligations as well .
I feel Victoria will never open again those closets stuffed with her stylish, edgy and sleek pieces or maybe she will only take them out to private family events .
Full agreement. You described really well what I, too, think is the reason behind Victoria´s style evolution.
DeleteVictoria´s position is different from other female royals of her generation because she will be the queen regent. Not trying to downplay the importance and work of other queens, but as a spouse of the reigning king, one´s position is that of a consort, a shining counterpart to the more serious role of the king. Victoria needs to bear the crown herself with all that entails, and rather than beauty, I think her top priority will be sincerity. If she wants to be taken fully seriously in her (future) role, she needs to divorce herself from the image of a fairy tale princess.
Hi, Vanessa.
DeleteI agree about Victoria's position being different from other female royals.
I can hardly imagine all the pressures and responsibilities she has to cope with as the future Queen Regent of Sweden.
With due respect for other Queens acting as Consorts and supporta to the reigning Monarchs, Victoria has to prove to be fit for such a hard job.
It has to do with her credibility , reliability as the future Queen and Head of State and sincerity.
She has to show her skills, not her beauty.
I feel she is authentic and genuine and that's all that counts when being confronted with relentless public scrutiny.
She is expected to fulfil her obligations with full time dedication and commitment and that's exactly what's she is doing.
I like the colour of the suit, but the skinny pants with boots doesn't work.

My thoughts exactly.
DeleteWell said, agree.
DeleteYes I agree, she spoilt the overall look.
DeleteUn ensemble dont le style et la couleur vont à merveille à Victoria ; est-ce que je vois des bottines bleu-nuit ?!
ReplyDeleteI want to like this suit because it is one of my favourite colours. However as Vanessa pointed out the cut of the jacket draws attention, and for me the placement of the top 2 buttons is drawing attention there too. I also feel the booties just make the pants look off. I feel the pants should not be so snug. Rewears sometimes miss the fashion mark
ReplyDeleteWhy is she wearing this foreign brand?
ReplyDeleteFor variety perhaps? And she does wear clothes from Swedish designers too. Most royal ladies also wear clothes from countries other than their own at times.
DeleteThe color and cut of the suit looks lovely on Victoria. And she has such a beautiful smile!
ReplyDeleteVictoria looks spot on.

CP Victoria is looking very beautiful on pics N° 5. The 2 things I'd change are the boots and the bag, which is looking more like a beauty pouch. The trousers of her pant suit are probably a bit too short, but worn with a classic pair of black shoes and transparent stockings it might be better. The pouch should be replaced by a large hand bag to carry the papers she has probably with her. I love the blue color.
