On February 14, 2025, the Prince and Princess of Wales celebrated Valentine's Day by sharing a photo on their social media accounts. The photo was taken from a film released by Kensington Palace last September, in which the Princess announced that she had completed chemotherapy. The video, filmed on the Sandringham estate by Will Warr, showed the Prince and Princess of Wales playing with their three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—in the woodlands and on the beach in Norfolk.
What kind of chemotherapy was it without loosing your hair ???
ReplyDeleteWant to know it because ....so sorry
A lot of chemos do not result in hairloss, but have a lot of sideeffects. Just do some resurch
DeleteSome chemotherapy drugs do not cause hair loss. There are also cold caps that reduce the amount and/or prevent hair loss, and it's possible a wig could have been made from her existing hair or from someone else's hair. -Speaking from prior experience
DeleteI think this is a very personal question that Catherine has chosen to keep quiet about. When under such fierce observation I can understand the desire to keep this all very private.
DeleteDieser Kommentar kommt mir respektlos und deplaziert vor!
DeleteI think a lot of people - especially women - would like to know. Not to violate her privacy but to have the knowledge for their own personal toolbox for if or when they get cancer. The truth of the matter is, as humans live longer lives the chances of getting cancer grows. Unfortunately, many of us on this board will be (or have been) personally touched by it. And while many women just accept the hair loss as a part of the treatment, many would rather fight to keep it. So they ask questions.
Delete@Anon 20:30: Of course a lot of people would like to know, but that's not an argument if somebody chooses not to talk about it. As for the personal toolbox, nobody needs Catherine's experience, the internet is full of information about this topic.
DeleteHair loss from chemotherapy is no longer the norm. The advances in chemo have been extraordinary in the past decades. Yes, I have friends and family members who have had chemo and lost their hair but I have friends and family who have not lost their hair from chemo. It also depends on the type of cancer too.
DeleteJanet
I guess the point is why not a photo taken in the last few days. Doesn’t have to,be posed and dressy, just a nice current photo.
DeleteThere are many different chemotherapy drugs. Not all result in the loss of hair. As mentioned above, cold caps can also help. She doesn't owe anyone the details of her health journey. They may be public figures, but their entire lives don't need to be public.
DeleteThe photo is about love and its power as a support and strength to endure hardship.
Deleteit's not about hair loss and clinical data.
You may want to talk about the power of love too?
Both of my parents went through chemotherapy. My mom lost her hair and my dad did not. Different chemotherapy drugs have different side effects. Interestingly, I’ve read that there is a new technique for saving the hair follicle. If I remember correctly, before each chemotherapy treatment, a cold treatment which doesn’t freeze but does cause cold restriction of blood vessels on the scalp is applied. In this way, the chemotherapy has difficulty entering and harming the hair follicle shaft which has shrunk due to the cold. The cold essentially protects the hair shaft from chemical damage. For a very public person like the Princess of Wales it makes sense that she would try one of these treatments to protect her appearance.
DeleteSome chemotherapy drugs, especially those used in lower doses or in targeted therapies, may have a lower risk of hair loss. For instance, drugs like Taxol (paclitaxel) or Adriamycin (doxorubicin) are more commonly associated with hair loss, while others like carboplatin or certain targeted therapies (like Herceptin for breast cancer) may not always lead to the same extent of hair thinning or loss. However, it really depends on the type and combination of chemotherapy drugs used.
DeleteOld photo, what’s the point
ReplyDeleteAnd what is your point?
DeleteThe point is that it’s their Instagram account and their beautiful photo and they wanted to share it. Completely reasonable and also lovely.

DeleteThe grinch that stole Valentine's Day.
Guess you're not getting any.
Why can't you be happy for them on Valentine's Day? They are in love and I am glad they are able to show affection for each other. I cannot understand why you bothered to comment.
DeleteAnon 17.10 I totally agree with you - this is now a very old photo, they have used stills from the Disney video too often. Why not a new photo? It should not be difficult. LRB
DeleteI don't think it is that "old". Anyway it is one of my favourite photos of them, so I think it is a wonderful idea to share it again at valentine-day.
DeleteAnonymous 02:35
DeleteIn total agreement with you.
Most of comments here are off topic.
17.10 The point is to have you come back to this blog and share negative oppinions post after post. Sad if anything.
DeleteThis is such a wonderful picture!
ReplyDeleteNot the best version for William, but Catherine has a lovely smile
ReplyDeleteI agree, nevertheless a lovely loving picture.
DeleteLuna
I love this photo. Rare to see the couple so affectionate with each other in the public sphere.

DeleteLovely photo and a great choice for Valentines day.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful photo of Catherine and William. They are such a lovely couple.
ReplyDeletePrince William is bold, is he over 50?
ReplyDeleteBaldness is genetic it has nothing to do with age. Was this really necessary?
DeleteIf you look at most men in the BRF they are balding at an early age.Prince Philip. Prince Edward. Prince William.,even harry, though he’s hanging on to his frontal tuff for dear life!😂
DeleteLowri.
Genetics maybe? Not a brainer.
DeleteWay to shame a man over something that he can’t control. I respect men who wear their baldness proudly.
DeleteAnd this ageism thing you see to have going on is sad - you do realise we are all headed that way right?!
T
I think it’s a very sweet picture!
ReplyDeleteThis photo is not recent because William isn't wearing a beard.
ReplyDeleteA lovely picture, a bit too intimate to be published.
A bit too intimate to be published?
DeleteYou must be kidding!
Too intimate? They are not Victorians, but it sounds like you might be.
DeleteI actually think sharing these more intimate moments can make the royals feel more relatable and human to the public. While some might feel it’s too private, others may appreciate seeing these genuine, personal connections. It’s nice to see them in these relaxed moments.
DeleteI think the best information about this can be asked to your treating doctor.
ReplyDeleteI can feel Anon. 16:50 is asking this because she/he is confronted in some way with cancer. All the information you can find on the internet is not recommended by medical doctors, because someone who did not studied medical sciences is not capable to see the difference between correct and false information. At Anon. 19:41 If you never have been confronted with this terrible desease you cannot know how desperate people who have cancer are or if one of their beloved family members are fighting every day against it. She/he just asked a question and said immediately she/he was sorry. No need to judge somebody for asking a simple question.
Your point about stories on the internet is valid, but so is the fact that each person's treatment is different and they react differently to it. Posing the question to a fashion blog is probably less accurate than visiting accredited cancer sites. This was a loving Valentine's Day message from a private couple that have been through a lot in the past year. I see it as growth that they have let go of the reserve that was expected from them. They have learned that life is short and they still have time to make some changes to how they are viewed by the public, and I support the change. It makes them more relatable. I think the comments have gone off topic.

Having so many members of your family afflicted with cancer, you should know that there is not one treatment for all cancers, and each patient reacts differently to their treatment. (I personally know a woman that died from her chemo, not her pancreatic cancer.) Some people are ill after each treatment session, some are not. Chemotherapies can weaken the immune system. Exposure to illness when the immune system is weak can make it more difficult to fight the illness. In addition, Kate is a mother to three young children. That should always take priority over other duties. Her role as a mother would have taken a lot of energy. I can understand that she would need to take time to care of herself in order to care for her family. It was also reported that she did some work from home when able. Not all work is public facing.
DeleteCharles paused his cancer treatment for 11 day to travel to Australia and Samoa. He also postponed his "public facing duties" while "he continued with his constitutional work as head of state, including doing paperwork and private meetings." Charles has a different role in the monarchy than Kate does. Kate has a supporting role, Charles essentially is the monarchy. It is not fair to say that Kate sat for a year while Charles carried on with his duties. Two different cancers, two different treatments, two different life priorities. There should be no comparisons.
Well said Anon 5:27. You are absolutely correct with everything you said in your response, and you stated it very well. One definitely cannot compare Charles and Catherine. As you said, different cancers, different roles, different priorities. (Sadly, last year our family also lost a close and beloved relative who died from the chemo, not from his cancer, only 2 weeks after starting his treatments.)

Well said @Anon 15.27!
DeleteUne belle photo qui nous montre tout leur amour !
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice to get new pictures of them not some we already seen.

Sometimes even familiar photos can be nice, especially if they capture meaningful moments or highlight their public appearances. There’s something comforting about seeing them in those classic shots that we've come to associate with them. New pictures would always be welcome, but there's still value in the ones we've seen before!
DeleteToo personal to share with the public. These kind of images are ones you should share with your family and friends not the world! A fine line between over exposure and maintaining some kind of mystique.
ReplyDeleteCheesy photos.
ReplyDeleteI guess this will be the way foreword with this couple. Instagram photos instead of duties.
