Zimmermann Ottie Plunge Paisley Linen Midi Dress
I am not a great fan of that type of sleeves, but I think it's a beautiful dress, especially on the D. of E.
ReplyDeleteThe dress is wonderful, the shoes maybe a bit too informal, but the overall look: lovely!
ReplyDeletePrince Edward is handsome.

Oh dear. Patterned from top to toe again. I think this is mis- or over-interpreted "diplomatic dressing", which is not really needed anyway, but if, then it could be done more subtly.
ReplyDeleteWell Zimmerman is an Australian brand, no? So I don’t think it’s wrongly interpreted “diplomatic dressing”, as much as a sensible choice for an outdoor evening in Kathmandu - where you do absolutely want to be culturally sensitive and diplomatically dressed if an official visitor. I think she did well here.
DeleteDear Anon 12:31, let me explain. I did not mean the designer, I meant the paisley pattern. Though not specifically a Nepalese pattern, but sure very popular in Nepal too. But independently from the specific pattern, lovely Sophie seems to prefer overwhelmingly full-of-pattern colourful dresses in countries where you generally find this preference too. This is what I meant, in a vague sense of the word, by "diplomatic dressing".
DeleteAgreed.

Beautiful colours on Sophie and an excellently culturally appropriate dress for Nepal with long sleeves and skirt covering most of her legs too.

DeleteIs a deep neckline also "culturally appropriate" in Nepal ?
This utterly gorgeous dress takes my breath away. SO beautiful ❤️. — Jane
ReplyDeleteAgree !!
DeleteA lovely feminine floaty dress.
ReplyDeleteGiven that it appears to be an evening event I perhaps would have chosen dressier shoes.
Agree with Cate!
DeleteIt’s a beautiful dress but the color does nothing for Sophie the shoes make it look even more heavy, I prefer the shoes of the model but….. Sophie.s sweet smile makes everything better
ReplyDeleteThe event appears to be outdoors on dryish grass at night so wedges seem more practical than heels. I don’t love them, but I see Sophie often chooses them for less than perfect walking surfaces. They are certainly elegant enough for Nepal .
ReplyDeleteJe reconnais que Sophie porte une belle robe à imprimé cachemire mais comme d'habitude un peu trop longue ; j'aurais bien vu des sandales à lanière !
ReplyDeleteI never liked these Zimmermann dresses.Sometimes there is an exception, but not everyone can wear them. The espadrilles are not adding any elegancy, on the contrary. They are indeed looking heavy. There are other types of espadrilles without the long silk straps around the ankles and which are looking less clunky. A simple pair of beige leather shoes with low and thick heels would have been just fine.
ReplyDeletePrince Edward looks so much better in single-breasted suits and this is a winning look! The Duchess could do better and the shoes are too clunky.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly however they both look very nice
DeleteI completely agree with you.
DeleteLowri.
Ah well!
DeleteI love this Zimmerman dress:- The collar, the neckline, the colour and the patterned fabric, and how the pattern is preserved in the design of the dress. I know I'm flogging a dead horse to say that I wish Sophie had worn it a few inches shorter, because the lightness of the skirt only makes her seem heavier when worn at a longer length, and after that, the balloon sleeves only add to that heavier look. But otherwise, she looks very presentable, and her casual shoes are in sync for a youthful audience.

Not my taste, what works better for Sophie is a structured dress that doesn’t engulf her. And there are plenty of comfortable shoes more appropriate, many styles in her wardrobe already
ReplyDeleteLily
Well articulated Lily. I totally agree.
DeleteNice dress in a flattering colour. It’s a bit too patterned for my liking but it suits the Duchess. The shoes are dreadful. Can’t say anything good about them at all.
ReplyDeleteAnnieM
This is a lovely dress--the colors and pattern are beautiful together. I think I would like this much better on Sophie had she chosen to wear different shoes--the espadrilles are just too heavy and clunky-looking for such a floaty, airy dress. The model's shoes are simple and perfect. I also don't think these are very flattering photos--they have a sort of upward tilt which is not a very flattering style of shot on anyone. I think this dress has huge possibilities with a few changes--especially the shoes.
ReplyDeleteJanet
The pattern is dense and heavy, but I like the dress on her, she looks pretty and feminine. It fits well, not so sure about her shoes though.
