On Monday, February 10, 2025, a Council of State was held at the Royal Palace on the occasion of the birth of Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia’s fourth child. During the Council of State, King Carl Gustaf informed the Government that the Princess, who is eighth in line to the throne, would be named Ines Marie Lilian Silvia and would be known as Princess Ines.
On February 10, to mark the birth of Princess Ines, a Te Deum thanksgiving service was held at the Royal Chapel in Stockholm. King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Princess Madeleine, Chris O'Neill, Princess Christina, Prince Carl Philip and his children—Prince Alexander, Prince Gabriel, and Prince Julian—as well as Princess Sofia's sisters, Lina and Sara Hellqvist, attended the service.
How nice! Everyone looks very good in their various clothes of cream and grey, as well as other colours, and you can feel the sense of joy at this very happy family occasion. P. Carl Philip is undoubtedly a proud dad once again, and his three boys are so cute. Bet they can't wait to enjoy having a sister. Blessings to them all.

As I am unfamiliar with Swedish customs and names I have a couple of questions.
ReplyDeleteDo the mother and baby not attend this service since the mother is still recuperating?
How is Ines pronounced? Does it rhyme with shines or finesse or is it a different pronunciation?
Thank you for the information.
Mrs B
I would think so.
DeleteThe name Ines is originally Spanish: Inés. It is pronounced as follows: https://ch.video.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?fr=yhs-trp-015&ei=UTF-8&hsimp=yhs-015&hspart=trp&p=ines+prononciation &type=Y23_F163_212979_102824#id=2&vid=93361eba3ac4d92db7022c8f0062cf22 &action=click
DeleteHi Mrs B, yes- the mother does not attend since she's still recovering.
DeleteThe name Ines rhymes with finesse.
It rhymes with finesse. DIQ
DeleteMother and baby never participate in Te Deum, they are recovering. And Ines is pronounced Eeness 🙂
Delete/Sofia
Ines rhyme with finesse, also like the English name Inez
DeleteRhymes with finesse, though possibly stressed on the first syllable.
DeleteIt does not rhyme with finesse, like everybody says 🙃 like Anonymous 19:00 says, it is on the first syllable. Éeness. Not Eenés.
DeleteWith love from a Sweden.
/Sofia
Sofía, It is a Spanish name with the tone in the "é", Inés.
DeleteSofía, in Sewdish It would be Agneta, in Spanish and portugueses Inés.
DeleteLike the choice of Lillian, a nod to princess Lillian the British born wife
Deleteof Prince Berthold.
Easiest way to Google, How do you pronounce Ines. I had to do that when my granddaughters name when she was born. I would pronounce it as eye-nez, yes dumbed down version but, I'm from USA south area. Hope this helps Mrs. B!
DeleteQS looks elegant in cream. PV and PM coordinating in grey.It seems an unusual color for a celebration, but of course the country is in mourning,so an understandable color to choose.
ReplyDeleteLowri.
Sofias sisters, in the last pic, where is her parents?
ReplyDeleteThere is no picture of them here, but I saw one in https://www.svenskdam.se/kungligt/nya-bilden-pa-smaprinsarna-alla-ser-samma-sak/10670015.
DeleteThe man with the black and white striped tie and the lady b/w dress.

Anon. 20.92, thank you for the link
DeleteQuelle belle palette de tenues pour cette célébration dont la reine dans l'association de couleur blanc cassé ; dommage, je ne vois pas très bien son bibi !
ReplyDeleteLovely to see Prince Carl Philip and his sons The young princes are such handsome little boys. I love Crown Princess Victoria’s dress and Queen Silvia is super elegant. Not so keen on Princess Madeleine’s outfit. It’s too short and just too plain. God bless Princess Ines

Lovely almost all of them, Madeleine and husband looks tired, not at all at ease, maybe moving to Sweden is heavy on them. Madeleine wears to short everthing, she is royal and not 25 anylonger
ReplyDeleteBut look at those phenomenal legs! She does not have to be a slave of fashion (and she is not 85 :-)
Delete22.39 I agree!
DeleteThe show stealers are the little boys! Gorgeous! But all the royals are looking terrific. The King is looking very handsome as is Christopher who appears to have trimmed down in the last months (perhaps with Daniel as trainer?!). I’m not sure he’s ever been comfortable with the publicity that he’s now back in, but it is a seemingly serious procession and formal event so he looks correct. Madeleine’s hem is above her knees but she has the legs to get away with this and she looks very elegant and apt, no problem there. I love the tradition of a thanksgiving service and releasing the name of the new baby in this formal way.
ReplyDeleteThe King has dyslexia, stop bullying for that!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 20:43, no one is bullying the king here nor have they even referenced him. What do you intend with this comment?!
DeleteWow - Queen Silvia knocked it out of the park with this stunning cape and gorgeous headpiece. I love the simplicity of Princess Madeleine's coat and dress. And Prince Carl and his sons look so handsome. Not crazy about the name of Princess Ines, if that is what they actually call her. It seems too "old". Why not Marie or another name a young person would be more comfortable with . Madeleine and Sophie are both cute names for girls. Don't saddle a child with an old-fashioned name just for the sake of tradition or whatever this is about.
ReplyDeleteVirginia!!! This made me laugh! You’re not keen on the name, ok, … but we can 100% safely assume that the family who owns the baby really likes the name and have thus chosen it for THEIR child! Rest assured!!
DeleteThat’s an unusual take on naming a baby 😀. We certainly chose names we liked for our sons and put family names as middle names. They have done the same with their children. We also tried to avoid anything too ‘fashionable’ at the time. The popularity of names changes so names like Anne or Margaret are now most unusual but a name like Amelia or Daisy, or Florence which sound so old fashioned to me are now popular again

Q Silvia and the Pss look very nice. White and gray, The CPss look stunning, love the dress a lot. Madeleine's combo is very nice. Would wear it myself.
ReplyDeleteThe Queen and Carl Philip are super happy about the little sweetheart. Pss Ines Marie Lillian Silvia is such a cutie. I wish them the best. They have their hands full with 4 children. Also nice to see the Hellquist family again, this time also Sarah's husband.

In Sweden many thinks Ines is a boring name!
ReplyDeleteI said it in the previous blog, why so many comments about the child's name, it is none of our business.
