Lovely colour green sweaters and ombre skirt. My dear Maxima looks tired, seems like she is saying you want a picture okay but I have work to do.

Green seems to be Maxima's 'couleur du jour' these days, and she wears that colour very well. From just the one photo on here, this seems to be a stylish, working outfit for business purposes. Very nice.

I think she looks like a housewife or a mum on a school run. There is nothing business-like about her outfit. And her hair is a disgrace.

@Anon 16:02 Nothing businesslike about her outfit? You're out of touch with the higher levels of the corporate financial business world of today. I'm a part of it. It's not all suits and jackets for women or men, and hasn't been for decades. You need to broaden your horizons.

I didn´t say she needed a suit or blazer. I just find her outfit rather odd for this occasion. The long skirt doesn´t read business, the little cardigan certainly doesn´t (especially when worn cape-style), her little handbag is nothing but a fashion accessory and her hair looks like she just rolled out of bed. Nothing about this look is business-like. And while I agree that there is a broader range of acceptable business attire today compared to 50 years ago, there is still a dress code expected from high-level representatives. Maxima gets away with this look because she is a queen.

But that's my point: This is exactly the look that I'm seeing in high end corporate boardrooms nowadays from women bankers and lawyers. It's not the general look of the outfit but the quality of the design and the threads. Very high end designers creating fashion to look very dressed down - but one knows exactly what they're wearing when they see it. It's the new source of invisible power and strength.

Agree 100% with the original commenter of the post! She should have more respect for herself, than going out in public looking like that. The first thing everyone sees is the head of a person.

Agree, she could do better, but cares more about the outfit and jewelry, and does not seem to care about the crowning joy of a woman, her hair. Sad, really.

  7. It would look nice to see the Queen with her hair more kempt representing her country. This is a side of her that we rarely see, she studied finance and business before coming Queen and was a prominent financial expert!

She studied economy and was a middle class student. When she worked at a bank in New York later she was very good at networking but certainly not a prominent financial advisor

Dear Fitzhugh, small correction that she is here not representing her country but with the UN. We know she has resources and if she’s choosing her hair this way, I think it speaks of other priorities. There is no rule that a Queen’s hair must be a certain way, but for sure, if she wanted daily hairdressing she would have the money to do so. And she’s only doing that for some engagements. Therefore I suggest she’s happy with her hair as it is!

You should ditch your gossip mags.
You don't know anything about Maxima's CV exactly like you do not know anything about mine or any other blogger's.
As long as you make a guess, I must say your comment is baseless.
Not a bigger, actually, as I could already foretell what you're going to write on any royal lady even before popping in here.

To P. The original: how do you know that the commentator knows nothing of Maxima’s cv?? When she got engaged to W.A., the future king of the Netherlands Dutch papers were full of information of her life sofar.
Bytheway: I was not the commentator but I resent your tone.

On the Dutch websites you can find everything about Queen Maxima what she studied when she was a young lady. Where she worked (more precisely in which bank she worked in New York). In The Netherlands there are no secrets about things like that and Queen Maxima does not make secrets about that period of her life either. These are not gossips. Just the price you have to pay when you are a famous person. We know what all the young queens did for a job before they encountered Philippe, Frederik, Willem-Alexander, Henri (of Luxembourg), Felipe, etc... It has been told to us by the official channels when they were getting married, it is part of the fairy tale, .... and can be found on the Internet (Wikipedia, the websites of the Royal house to which they belong, there are books which have been written by royalty watchers about queens and princesses...).

Your comment is very strangely written.
Anyway, here is the official page on Maxima .
      I'm factual, you should know.
      A credit to Maxima chapeau.

To P The Original: when Meghan joined the RF she was called a humanitarian and all sorts of excellent things. It’s not because it’s on the official website it’s true. It’s how you present facts. Probably rather exaggerated.

Maxima was no middle class student.
As you can see from the official page I attached at 19:25, she was Vice- President more than a couple times.
This means that she worked in a high hierarchical position.
I have always thought that she has substance to her.
Some other royal ladies have remarkable CVs .
They are just not pretty faces.
      Life is unpredictable.
You start studying something and you are so good at It, you have it all but then your life suddenly takes
      new and thrilling turns.
And your find yourself wanting to follow those unknown paths because you feel they will bring joy into your life.
Maybe it's all already written in everyone's destiny.
I bet none of these ladies ever dreamt of ending up in a palace with tiaras on their heads.
On the other hand, I ended up on planes!
I just followed my inborn passion for travelling and adventure.
It's so satisfying and rewarding when one can make their dreams come true!

I think she may use gel in her hair and gelled hair does not photograph well, but looks nice otherwise. She does not walk around with a mirror, walks into a building and the cameras are snapping away. Really does she have a chance, so what you see is what you get and she is fabulous.

You can be very well dressed, but if your hair isn't done, if your shoes are not in good shape (not the case) it ruins the all thing.
Besides that, being well dressed, and that includes washing your hair, it's a matter of respect to those who are receiving us or we receive.
