On January 11, 2025, the training ship Juan Sebastián de Elcano departed from Spain and arrived in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, its first international and American port of call. Upon arrival, the women's percussion group from the Pracatum School welcomed the ship with a performance. Princess Leonor met with the women's group of the Pracatum Social Action Association (APAS), which runs educational, cultural, and community development programs.
In the early afternoon, Princess Leonor attended a luncheon with the Spanish ambassador to Brazil, Mar Fernández-Palacios; Spain’s defense attaché in Brazil; the deputy chief of mission at the Spanish embassy; the head of Brazil’s Second Naval District; the commander of Juan Sebastián de Elcano; the head of Brazil’s Sixth Military Region; the Spanish consul in Salvador; and the CEO of the CODEBA Port Authority.
She looks and her colleagues look very nice in their uniforms
ReplyDeleteBeautiful young women and self-assured. She looks great in uniform. One does not have to be Spanish to be proud of her.

I agree. She's such a beauty!
DeleteAbsolutely!
DeletePrincess Leonor has really grown into a poised and confident young woman. It’s impressive to see how well she carries herself, especially in her uniform, which highlights her maturity and sense of duty. It's clear she has a bright future ahead, and her dedication to her role resonates with people far beyond Spain. It’s always inspiring when someone can evoke a sense of pride, regardless of nationality!
DeleteLa princesse Leonor a dû beaucoup apprécier sa descente à terre !
ReplyDeleteMarvellous to see her back on dry land! She looks terrific. The King and Queen must be so proud of her and rightly so. She is so highly impressive.
ReplyDeleteShe will be a good and impressive queen for her country like queen Elizabeth
ReplyDeleteShe looks great and so do her colleagues. It helps that one day she will be Queen, so it opens lots of doors,
ReplyDeleteNo sé a qué puertas se refiere. De momento, la Princesa Leonor no conoce más que obligaciones y responsabilidades. Nada de años sabáticos ni vacaciones exóticas ni vida fácil.
DeleteI don't know that she will have any doors opened for her. She was born to fulfill a role. If anything, she will have very little say in many areas of her life.
DeletePrincess Leonor has been focused on her duties and responsibilities from a young age. Being a future monarch comes with a lot of weight, and it seems she's dedicated to taking it all seriously. There's no doubt her path will be full of challenges, but it's impressive to see her handling them with such maturity. The idea of taking time off or living a carefree life isn’t really an option for her at this stage.

DeleteIt is the case for any future monarch. They all must be prepared to a future live that will not be easy. What they will do later with all these serious preparations time will learn. Quite a challenge in a daily changing world.
It is looking more and more like a luxury cruise to me.
Paloma.
Really?
DeletePlease, embark on this training ship, and do all the work Pss Leonor does aboard and then tell
us if you still think so.
Thank you.
Oh, I forgot to say that the Princess is stunning in her uniform.
Her beauty shines through.
You seem to not have seen the pictures of the sea cadets high up in the yards, readying the sails and the rigging. This is a full blown sea cadet training ship of the Spanish Royal Navy (Armada) and without the crew working hard it would not move or go far.
DeleteAnonymous 7:33, fair enough! As it’s naval officer training they pare likely to have a mix between elegance (eg fancy dining rooms, excellent food) and also strict discipline … and there probably are elements of luxury. The welcome to Brazil certainly looks fun!
DeleteTo Anon. 7:03 No, it's not a luxury cruise. She has to do a lot of even dangerous work, climbing up twenty or more metres, readjusting equipment, attending courses in the morning, sharing her cabin with three other young women she hadn't known before - on a luxury cruise you have your own cabin or suite, you are served 24 hours etc.. I wonder whether YOU could do her job.
DeleteIt’s important to acknowledge the context of the trip. The Princess is there representing her country, and while she’s invited to official events like receptions, it doesn’t mean she’s living in luxury. As several pointed out, sharing a cabin, helping with chores, and not enjoying a privileged lifestyle shows she’s genuinely participating in the experience. It’s easy to assume things from the outside.
DeleteCroisière de luxe?
ReplyDeletePas de figuration avec des bleus aux bras. Courageuse plutôt
Froufrou
Obviously Spain has interests in Brazil
ReplyDeleteAhí están las 9 guardiamarinas del JS Elcano. Bravas muchachas. Feliz travesía.
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine navy training on a sailing ship. In case of a conflict, I think this type of ships cannot be used ? I thought she was getting training on a naval vessel that can be used in a war situation. Maybe that is coming later. Don't shoot at me because I do not know very much about the navy, boats and ships,.....
ReplyDeleteEfectivamente, no sabe usted mucho sobre la Marina, ni barcos, ni cualidades de liderazgo. De hecho, no sabe usted NADA.
DeleteWhile sailing ships may not be as commonly used in modern naval combat, they do offer valuable training experiences, especially when it comes to leadership, teamwork, and discipline. Princess Leonor's training on a sailing ship likely serves as a foundation for understanding naval operations before moving on to more advanced training on modern warships later on. She may have more combat-specific training down the line!

DeleteNo need to be rude. Do you know everything of defence like army, air-force etc of other European countries ? I don't think so. I am not afraid to admit what I do not know. One is never too old to learn something new. I appreciate very much Anon. 18/2 15:53 for his/her friendly explanation. Signed Anonymous 17/2 - 17:00
Thank you Anonymous 18/2 - 19:57 for your friendly and complete explanation.
