Princess Estelle of Sweden celebrates her 13th birthday today. Estelle Silvia Ewa Mary, Princess of Sweden and Duchess of Östergötland, was born on February 23, 2012, as the first child of Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel. According to the Act of Succession, Princess Estelle is second in line to the throne, following her mother, Crown Princess Victoria.
Ahead of her 13th birthday, Princess Estelle was photographed at the Royal Palace by Kate Gabor, the same photographer who took her first official portrait as a newborn. The Princess is celebrating the occasion privately with her family.

Beautiful mix of her parents…Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteIncredible images portraying her beauty and sophistication. She should be able to use her birth platform to not only do well for Sweden but the rest of humanity as well. A very happy birthday young lady.
Deletei see alot of Grandma too.
DeleteYes indeed.
DeleteWow. What a beautiful and charismatic young lady!
ReplyDeleteLovely girl. For better or worse, she looks more mature than 13yo in these photos.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to P.Estelle.

Elle devient bien jolie avec un certain goût pour se vêtir ; bon et heureux anniversaire à elle !
ReplyDeleteShe's really pretty.
ReplyDeleteA harmonious blend of her mum's and dad's faces.
Very pretty young lady, and yes I like her long hair, it suits her. I am one that thinks Queen Mary should cut her hair so I am not against long hair just how it frames the face.
ReplyDelete😄
DeleteHappy Birthday to a beautiful young princess!
ReplyDeleteJudy
The princess is a beautiful young lady. 🇸🇪
ReplyDeleteBeautiful princess. I do not like her sweater and skirt very much. I think she asked to have hair extensions for her birthday pictures.
ReplyDeleteHer mother is blessed with very thick hair so maybe this is natural?
DeleteOh stop it! It is all her hair. She had it styled for the portraits. This is an example of having hair professionally done vs. a less polished look when doing it by yourself. She looks beautiful. I happen to love her sweater and skirt. It is a perfect outfit for a 13 year old. FYI, it is understood we don't critique the appearance of children here. They deserve a few years of innocent bliss before facing the vitriolic criticisms she will be subjected to as an adult.
DeleteI don't quite understand the obsession of suspecting the use of hair extensions whenever someone happens to have long and beautiful hair. (Or the obsession of demanding them to cut it shorter or to wear the hair open if they happen to wear a bun...) I'm sure that this is Estelle's natural hair -- she has good hair genes and the hair is styled so that it looks fluffy and thick. And as Anonymous 20:58 said, she is still a child and should be spared the criticisms.
Delete-B.
Hair extensions on a 13 year old? She’s not a Kardashian you know!
DeleteAnon 17:46, dont you have own hair?
Delete@ 20:56
DeleteHer mother is blessed with natural curly hair, I don't know if it is very thick. Her grandmother Queen Silvia always had thick hair.
@ Anonymous 20:58 & 22:15
DeleteIt is not an obsession. I only see 2 things. On the last pictures I saw from Princess Estelle her hair was not so long. Secondly, hair that is professionally done can give it more volume and make it look thick but it can never give the impression of long hair if your hair is at least 15 cm shorter. It is not vitriolic criticism either, she looks lovely. If nobody on this blog may say something about how the young princesses look except that they are beautiful and have beautiful hair and eyes an clothes, etc... why these pictures are published on the social media ? Don't underestimate the young people of today. They are much more mature than you think at the age of 13 you know. Everything they must hear at school, in the news on TV they are confronted regularly with how the world is looking today. I think if I say that she maybe asked for hair extensions because it is her birthday, she is probably not the only young girl who is asking for such things be it a bit mascara or nail polish or things like that. It is very natural at their age and they know as well that they cannot go to school like that just have it when there is a party in the family like her brithday party for exemple.....
Ani 10:00…you know it’s quite possible…more than possible…for a 13 year old young lady to actually have thick hair?
Delete@Anon 10:00 If the last pictures you saw of Estelle were here on this blog, you saw her on a ski trip with her parents where her hair was not visible, and pictures just before Christmas where she is making candles with her family and her hair was in a pony tail. The last time we really saw her hair was with Queen Silvia receiving the Christmas trees with her grandchildren. In those photos, Estelle's hair is worn down and just as long as it is now.

This is not a place where we only say people are "beautiful and have beautiful hair and eyes an clothes, etc..." You are missing the point. She is a child. As a community, we collectively agree that we don't critique children. They will face enough of that when they are adults. You ask why these pictures are published if not to be able to give opinions about her appearance. Have you considered that it is to congratulate her on her birthday and not an invitation to say you don't like what she is wearing? This is a happy occasion celebrating a milestone in her life. Let's keep it that way.
Knowing that Estelle does not have hair extensions (which is a weird obsession here for some reason) has nothing to do with my understanding the mentality of today's 13 year old children, as you suggest. Implying that you should be able to diminish her appearance in any way, if you choose to, because today's children are subjected to so much in school and the media is tone deaf. That is all the more reason to help preserve their childhood as long as possible, not add to the problem. I know she is not wearing extensions by looking at her hair and having a very good understanding of how hair is styled. Not all people do. I do question how much you understand girls that age when you say they can't go to school like that. Girls can and would. Not all extensions are clip in. They can be semipermanent, where they are sewn in or glued in. They are meant to last many months, until the hair grows out and they need to be redone. Girls of color do it every day, even young the young girls. Estelle has always appeared appropriate for her age, which is a credit to her parents.
She did not even "asked for" a little touch of decorative makeup but here we are, someone obsessing about her asking for extensions, just for putting a bit of negativity. - She looks beautiful, and her expression seems to reveal a fittingly beautiful character. I like her outfit too.

DeleteA lookalike of the young Queen Silvia.
ReplyDeleteEstelle is a keen basketplayer, because she is so tall!
ReplyDeleteShe is a lovely young lady. There is some inner light and peace in her.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed…she looks serene and content….lovely young lady.
DeleteI have been following princess Estelle's life since she was born. Though many Swedes don't support royals, (among some of my friends there) there are few that are well liked; A Princess Estelle and her mother Victoria. Princess Estelle is such a beautifull clever girl. A crowd please. She will make an excellent queen some day.
ReplyDeleteLike many countries with monarchs, the interest and loyalty is waining. The days of the privileged lording over the peasants has long gone. However I feel they have the role of soft diplomacy. Being visible, interacting with the public and not being stuffy will bring this young lady to a respected position with her mother.
DeleteThe Swedish royal family enjoys widespread popularity and is seen as a respected institution that represents Swedish values, traditions, and diplomacy. King Carl XVI Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, and others are often seen as relatable figures who support various charitable causes and participate in cultural events. The Swedish public generally admires their role as symbols of continuity, though there are occasional debates about the cost of the monarchy. Its role as a unifying symbol of Swedish identity has allowed it to remain popular across generations.
DeleteFirst her mother will be queen some day. After that she will....
DeleteBy that time we probably live in a complete different world and or society. By that time maybe there will be no kings or queens anymore. Not that I am looking forward to that, do not misunderstand me. These days one must be very careful what to say.... The fact is that nobody knows how the world will look like. I hope it is not changing too fast and too much. The good things may stay, the bad things may go away very quickly.
Une jolie jeune fille et une jolie tenue. Magnifique bouquet aussi. Paloma.

ReplyDeleteSweet girl!
ReplyDeleteI love everything about her: the outfit, maybe a bit too big for her, the girly earrings, the teenager hair, the lady-like posture, the intelligent and sparkly eyes, the sweet innocent smile.
I see everything she is and she will be in these pictures.
May she have many wonderful years ahead

Wonderfully said!
DeleteLuna, well stated
DeleteShe is absolutely beautiful. Just look at that hair!
ReplyDeleteEbba Kleberg von Sydow said in TV4 that there is going to be a Estelle-day in the future! Perhaps in may or june?
ReplyDeleteWho said what?!
DeleteShe is a beautiful and confident young lady. Her hair is simply stunning! - Louise.

ReplyDeleteI made a Estelle-cake to celebrate yesterday; is it princess Estelle own recipe?

DeleteI do not understand what you mean. You tell us you made an Estelle-cake yesterday. Then you ask us if it is princess Estelle's own recipe ?
Conclusion : If you made the cake you should know whose recipe it is.
@Anon 13:27 What a sweet way to celebrate Estelle's birthday. Thanks for sharing! I found the origin of the cake. Swedish Princess Cake (Prinsesstårta), originally called Green cake, was developed by Jenny Åkerström and was first published in 1929 in "Prinsessornas kokbok (Princess' cookbook)." She had founded an all girls school, and Princesses Astrid, Margaretha, and Märtha attended the school in the 1920s. The cookbook contained some of the favorite recipes of the princesses, including what came to be known as Princess cake. According to the Swedish journal Svenskdamthe, recipe was modernized for Estelle, Estelle-tårtan (Estelle cake), by pastry chef Stefan Roman. The history of the cake and Jenny is below.

She's now a "tween." Brace for impact! Just kidding. She has always seemed very nice and fun loving. I think her parents and "village" are doing a wonderful job raising her. Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteAnd a great head of hair!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday, Princess Estelle!!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely girl. A very happy 13th birthday to Pss Estelle of Sweden.

I can't believe that this splendid 13- year- old girl is being judged like this and on her birthday too!
ReplyDeleteIt is crystal clear that this is her natural hair and there are many pics showing her with long hair on different occasions.
I think nobody is entitled to bash a young girl this way without even knowing what extensions are .
By the way, there are also halo extensions but it's not the case to fuel the bemoaner anymore.
A loveley young Lady and she is only 13,so cricitism do not belong for a child in these comments please.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Estelle. I've been watching you since you were born and it's hard to believe you are 13 years old.
