King Felipe of Spain received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Alcalá in recognition of his close ties with the institution and his commitment to human rights, culture, and research. On February 27, 2025, King Felipe and Queen Letizia attended the investiture ceremony, where King Felipe VI of Spain was awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa at the University of Alcalá in Alcalá de Henares.
Upon arrival at the University of Alcalá, the King and Queen were welcomed by a delegation of authorities, including the President of the Senate, Pedro Rollán; the President of the Constitutional Court, Cándido Conde-Pumpido; the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso; and the Mayor of Alcalá de Henares, Judith Piqué.

Letizia is a true piece of art in this ensemble, a stunning composition. Of course not because of the uneven hem, but in spite of it - and because the cape is uneven as well.
ReplyDeleteI love that perspective! Queen Letizia truly does look like a work of art in this ensemble. The unique elements, like the uneven hem and cape, definitely add an interesting and modern touch, giving her look a dynamic feel. It's impressive how she can pull off such a bold, unconventional style while still maintaining elegance. The whole outfit feels intentional and thoughtfully put together!
DeleteFunny hat for King Felipe.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Agree. When I first saw these photos (on another site) I thought, "Wow. Spain often has great ceremonial costumes and robes, etc. but this .... Whew." :) But I do love photos five and six. Happy, proud wife.
DeleteTime to rethink that uniform 😂
ReplyDeleteperfect colour on the Queen to match the Honorary king
ReplyDeleteI miss the glamourous Queen Let. She looks great now as well but the va va voom Let was something else.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree! :)
DeleteYeah right?? What are we missing? Is the heels?
DeleteBut I mean...I will take her looks any day.

Love photo nr 7 where Letitia is looking so proud at Felipe !!
ReplyDeleteLove the cape, the dress is nice although I am not a fan of uneven hems. She has done a good job of choosing colours that blend with the ceremonial robes and capes. I must say the cap is rather silly looking, no less than some of the Brit hats
ReplyDeleteWell said, agree with you.

DeleteI agree about the hats, but also the traditional ceremonial robes of the British are looking silly, nowadays. In almost every European country when a honorary doctorate or a prize is offered, the university staff and the authorities wear ceremonial hats and robes according the tradition of these universities.
Many European countries follow similar traditions with ceremonial robes and hats, and it's part of the rich history and ceremony of academic events. The British robes hold a deep cultural significance, and I think it's interesting to see how different countries approach these traditions. It's a unique part of the ceremony that adds a sense of history and grandeur, even if it looks a bit unusual today!
DeleteIt's great that Letizia is colour coordinated with all the recipients and faculty so she doesn't stand out in the group photo. I didn't expect the skirt on her dress to be a flared as it looks on her. May be it's just on these photos?

Superbes couleurs qui se combinent bien avec toutes les personnes présentes ; le couvre-chef de ces messieurs est vraiment original !
ReplyDeleteThe university robes are reminiscent of cardinal robes, very vintage look for sure.
ReplyDeleteThe King and Queen are so cute and happy looking together in these pictures.

Very clever to choose the same colours!
ReplyDeleteThis is a very nice look for Letizia, also like the color. I must say Felipe is a very handsome man. He always looks like he stepped out of a magazine, classy.

More red! Gorgeous! I like that she mirrored the colours her husband would wear - complementing him and letting him shine, while still looking fantastic. Even her sleeves peeking out from under the cape look like the cuffs of the ceremonial garb. Big fan of the shoes, too!

Queen Letizia's dress is not bad but too long (unless it is recommended for this type of event) and I don't like the uneven hem anymore. I understand that red is the color of this university, but it seems that Letizia's is in her red period for the moment. Red pant-suit yesterday, red dress today,..... Herewith the black period is closed perhaps. I like her dark red shoes and bag.
ReplyDeleteI actually think Queen Letizia pulls off the red look really well. The dress, though long, has an elegant feel to it, and the hem adds an interesting touch to the overall design. I also think her consistent use of red lately is a bold and confident statement. It’s definitely her signature for this period, and I personally enjoy how she keeps making it work in different styles. The dark red accessories are a nice, cohesive touch as well!
