A school shooting occurred at Campus Risbergska, an adult education center in Örebro

On February 5, 2025, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden visited Örebro to honor the victims of the tragic incident that occurred on February 4. The King and Queen visited the school area in Västhaga and laid flowers at the site. In the afternoon, the royal couple attended a memorial service at St. Nicolai Church in central Örebro.

According to police officials, eleven people were killed in the shooting at Risbergska School, including the suspected assailant, who was not known to the police. Flags at all government institutions, as well as royal palaces, were flown at half-mast on February 5.

The motives behind the attack are currently under investigation by the Swedish Police Authority and the Swedish Security Service.

      Did she? A soft heart. This sort of violence is so terrifying, the deaths so unnecessary and shocking. It is extraordinarily sad that similar events have become so frequent in the USA that through media there has been some normalisation and therefore a possibility in others’ minds. Absolutely inhuman.

    What a horrendously horrible service for anyone to have to attend. QS looks devastated.
    Makes you think, how the poor families will ever recover from such a tragedy.
