On February 18, 2025, King Philippe, Queen Mathilde, King Albert II, Queen Paola, Prince Laurent, Princess Claire, Princess Delphine, James O’Hare, Princess Esmeralda, and Princess Lea attended the annual Eucharistic celebration in memory of the deceased members of the Royal Family. The mass took place at Our Lady Church in Laeken. The traditional mass is held annually to commemorate the deceased members of the Belgian royal family.
The Church of Our Lady of Laeken (Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk van Laeken) is a Catholic parish church in the Brussels district of Laeken. The Royal Crypt beneath the shrine serves as the main resting place for members of the Belgian royal family, with some notable artisans also interred in the nearby cemetery.
Very flattering outfit Queen Mathilde !!
ReplyDeleteCan’t say that I like the queens militaryesk look. I do like the coat or suit that Princess Claire is wearing, nice change. And princess Delphine has a nice coat and similar hat to Mathilde. I see she and James have matching scarfs, must be one of her designs. Would like to see what shoes she wore. Queen Paola dignified as aways, such a pretty face.
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime, more pictures have been added, in one of which we could see the shoes of Princess Delphine. She looked well put together, rather conservatively given her usual looks, but the shoes stand out. Of course, they would. It would have been some sort of disappointmen if not.
DeleteDSC yes the comment was placed before the photo showing her shoes.
DeleteI like Delphine. She is true to herself. I'm sure she will always have an artistic flair, and that is fine.

Queen Mathilde's coat is lovely, but I would replace the big metal buttons by normal buttons. This style looks too much like a military. It is more something for Princess Catherine or Princess Anne. The type of hat is also something I do not like very much. She has much better dark hats than this one. Princess Claire wears a beautiful suit (skirt + jacket). Princess Delphine wears a lovely navy coat. The white shoes have to go. It looks like she didn't had enough warmth. I think the dress she wores under the coat is too light, too summery. A pity we didn't see a picture of Princess Esmeralda or Princess Lea. We do not see them very often and when they are there the camera never catch them.
ReplyDeleteI like the hat but find the placement on her head bizarre, as if it’s slipping off and about to cover her face. It could suit her very well more conservatively placed.
DeleteThank you for adding the photo's of Princess Esmeralda (King Albert's half sister) and Princess Lea (the wife of the late Prince Alexander who was King Albert's half brother).

DeletePlease, get some updates on fashion and hats.
This is the so- called fascinator and its placement is correct.
Moreover, what you call military style is one of the most captivating trends of the season for coats, cabans and blazers.
Please, catch up on contemporary fashion collections.
Thank you.
Of course, you are entitled to not like modern fashion and what is exquisitely elegant.
There is a picture of Princess Lea and Princess Esmeralda together.
DeleteBelle allure de Mathilde dans ce manteau à double boutonnage - Le look de la princesse Claire est très élégant dans ce blouson associé à la jupe évasée sans oublier la princesse Delphine mais je dis non, non pour ses chaussures !
ReplyDeleteDelphine just seems to like attention. The shoes are something else for sure. Then she wonders why she doesn’t get invited to more events.
ReplyDeleteVery true 🤢
DeleteShe is invited on family events. She would like to have a more active role as a representative of the Royal Family. Maybe she thought that only King Philippe could decide of that but she forgot that in Belgium it is the Government which makes the final decisions.
DeleteAnd her dress seems way too short!
Delete@ Anon 22 32. Absolutely agree.
DeleteThe Queen looks very dignified and elegant.
ReplyDeletePrincess Claire’s outfit is elegant and smart. A more prominent hat would have made it perfect. I like Queen Mathilde’s outfit but agree about the odd placing of the hat. Who is the elegant lady at the end of the second row behind Queen Paola?
ReplyDeleteAnnieM
She is Princess Sibilla of Luxembourg. She came with her husband, Prince Guillaume and their son Prince Leopold. They represent the Luxembourgs.
DeleteQueen Mathilde looks wonderful in her navy suit--but I hate that head bolter. Move it back off her eye and above her forehead and I would be happier but I still do not like fascinators that look like they have be bolted or super-glued to the wear's head. I also like Delphine's coat and jaunty beret--she looks really good here. I can't tell too much about her dress other than it's pretty short but I think the colors are very pretty. However...those shoes!!! She seems to wear this style any time we see her public so obviously she likes them but sorry, they are horrid. Claire is my winner--she looks fabulous and I love her suit--it is pretty style for her and she looks sharp.

A lovely yet somber look from the royal ladies.
ReplyDeleteQM has the height and shape to carry off a king military style coat. The small box hat is just enough not to outshine the coat.
PC we rarely see, looked elegant in her grey two piece with black accessories.
PD I never understand why she always has to want to be the standout. You’d think she could toe the line for such a somber event and tamper down her unusual dressing. Black boots would have looked a lot better than big clunky white sandals!
Lowri.
Delphine is an individual. She has her own personality, wears it on her sleeve (or on her feet sometimes), and doesn't conform - and I love that about her.

Pr. Claire wears a beautifull grey suit, Queen Mathilde not 100% successfully, but love the hat
ReplyDeleteIt seems Princess Delphine has only in her shoe wardrobe, the 1960’s platform, ABBA style of shoe (also known as beetle crushers). I don’t think I’ve ever seen her wearing another style of shoe.
ReplyDeleteI’m sure she has the same in black which would have been more appropriate for the occasion.
Also good to see the Princess didn't use the occasion to promote her colourful “statement” art.
I think the Princess and her husband, James O’Hare, are wearing identical silk scarfs with one of her arty prints.
Nice to see King Albert and Queen Paola out and about and supporting nice healthy complections.
@ Deadeggs
DeleteThings might turn very risque' for her, if she'd venture to wear these kind of pumps in red...
I wasn't thinking about ABBA or the 1960s platforms...
Ok, I'm gonna stop again...
😅
Re: Princess Delphine
ReplyDeleteHer bright white super- skyhigh-pumps look rather jarring amidst all the appropriate dark clothes worn by those attending this commemoration.
This being said,....ehmmm...and as much as I can appreciate her artsy ensembles...
Well, these pumps remind me of....
Ok, I'd rather keep quiet or I feel my comment won't be published😂
IMHO this particular event demands very particular dressing from the Royal family, and it's not the time and the place to show artistic and independent spirit. These shoes and the very short lenght of the dress, which is unfortunately visible, are not really appropriate.
DeleteHello P. the original.
DeleteWhy don't you tell us what they remind you of?
Go on, you're in good company.
Anyway, I remember when I wore them in the 60’s. We called them beetle crushers.
We topped them off with tight fitting, flared bottom pants/jeans.
And we thought we were so “cool”.
I could only wear them today if I used a walking frame 😁
Hello, @ Deadeggs.
ReplyDeleteIf I told you what I think, you'd rightly call me "noughty".
Ok, I'll give you a hint.
The shoes remind me of those worn by some "dancers" .in certain night venues😂
Please, have mercy on me😉

ReplyDeleteLovely coat from Q Mathilda, Claire looks lovely. Delphine's shoes are a horror IMO, no surprise on that end.
