Happy birthday to the Princess, but what an awkward new photo! What's with the hands in the pockets like that? Strange. Also, fashion-wise, the scarf doesn't seem to go well with that ensemble. It would have been far better without it. The Christmas candid photo is much better overall. Lovely smile, not contrived, lovely green outfit.

The photo is more casual, so the hands-in-pockets pose and the scarf were meant to keep it relaxed and laid-back. It’s just a different vibe compared to more polished shots.

Why doesn't the scarf go with the outfit?

  5. I still remember her "Kate Middleton-days", then the wedding, the children... It was always a pleasure to see her grow into her role. And then those very bad news about her health. May this sensitive, intelligent, caring and beautiful mother, wife and princess have a funny birthday and a very happy new year!

Coralie, I too remember her back in the day. I followed her since she was only William's girlfriend and be a fan of her ever since. Federica

Lovely photos, I prefer the one in the green coat. The black and white is okay, but her hands look awkward. It reminds me of the ones a few years ago in the red dress. The scarf kinda looks like a bread basket cloth on first glance, perhaps it was intended as a pop of colour.
Looking good after all she went through.

Has anyone overly scrutinized the photo for extra, or missing, fingers and the like? I'm sure it's coming.

Hands in pockets goes very well with that ever so slightly mischievious smile. A very private picture, for a very private occasion.

  16. A moving message from William, it brought tears to my eyes, but I am a softy! I'm so glad and relieved the Princess appears to be doing well health wise. All through this she has carried herself with such self respect and total dignity, in the most dreadful of circumstances and in the glare of the public eye. I love the photo of her on Xmas, she looked smashing. Happy Birthday Ma'am.

Hello, Ava and Happy New Year!
I very rarely run out of words bit this the case.
Now, I'm gonna try to drop some lines , hope to manage to write down what I feel.
William summed up beautifully what can be considered as a widespread sentiment of affection and immense respect toward this incredibile brave, resilient, selfless and positive lady.
It is crystal clear that he loves her wholeheartedly and that they know how to give each other mutual support especially under such gruelling circumstances.
Yes, that's simply the truth, the most incredibile wife and MOTHER.
These is her MOST sparkllng crown, the best of all her jewels.
      She is already a Queen.
When somebody gets such waves of public respect, love and admiration, no coronation ceremonies are needed.
She wears her crown of dignity - just like any other sick person-everywhere, no matter to what extent her public engagements will be downscaled.
I love that splendid pic portraying her walking on her routerl to church on Christmas day.
Those armfuls of flowers she got from people lined up on the street, her almost humble thank you to the sanitary system workers gives the best proof of her exquisite manners and the great heart she has.
Likewise , I love the b/w pic, she's so beautiful and intimate in all her simplicity.
      Hugs for you, Ava.

  17. I don't particularly like the portrait... But who cares! She is here and I can only imagine what a happy occasion for this family, to celebrate her birthday and her recovery.
May all of them be happy and together for many years to come!!!

What a lovely casual portrait of the beautiful Princess of Wales. I love this more informal essentially family photo chosen by William (maybe even Catherine herself) to celebrate her birthday. The loving and love-filled statement from William and the children is so beautiful--I am sure Catherine will treasure it. I also love the photo selected by King Charles and Queen Camilla--it is so quintessentially Catherine in public. Happy Birthday to Catherine and I hope she has a wonderful day!

    Janet
