We are extremely proud of her, and she's been the most popular royalty for years in our country.

I don't see that as an insult. Her wardrobe is not the most modern of the royals. I assume that what she wears is in style more so in Sweden than other more fashion forward countries. Her ditzy print florals are old fashioned looking to my eye. She wears a lot of high necks, pussy bows and ruffles, along with her ever present bun, giving a grandmotherly vibe. She does have some lovely pieces that are solid in color that are very flattering and make her look more up-to-date.

@Anon 20:15: it is an insult not really for Victoria, who is neither a grandmother nor really old-fashioned. But it is an insult for grandmothers (like me, for example :-), because it implies that we all wear old-fashioned clothing). Why not call it simply old-fashioned if this is what you mean.

@Anon 23:40 The original comment was not mine. Your comment should be directed to Anon 15:51.

You obviously agree with Anon 15:51, you just take exception to the word "grandmother". I called her style "old fashioned", and said "grandmotherly vibe" referring back to the original comment, in their defense. To your point, I don't know any grandmothers my age who dress like her. All are more modernly clad, including my own mother, who is a great-grandmother. As I said above, l think some of her choices are due to where she lives.

  4. She usually nails evening appearances but her daytime choices often leave me puzzled. The prairie dresses, the grandma dresses, most of them too long, too frilly, unstructured and making her drown in a sea of shiny and/or print fabric. (Case in point: the Dagmar dress above.) Or the pant suits - she has a few that fit really well, the above pink one being one of them, but some of them either have a ridiculous pattern or terrible cut. And the everyday bun doesn´t help.
At least one gets to marvel at her gala/banquet/reception choices when she often looks smashing, including flattering silhouettes, interesting designs, a wide range of materials and combined with striking jewellery. This is also when strong bold colours are just right and I´d much rather see them in a gown than in a pant suit. I am also very much fond of Victoria´s natural make-up that always makes her look polished without taking the focus, even when it´s a bit bolder.

      Hello, Vanessa.
I hear what you mean about being puzzled by some of Victoria' s daytime sartorial choices.
I felt the same way the first time I flew to Sweden.
You know, we can be at a loss or puzzled or whatever but choosing to wears frilly, prairie- like dresses or a classic blouse and a midi wide skirt paired with ballerinas , combat boots or others kind of flat shoes is quite common among Swedish women to their daytime activities and jobs .
Same goes for their hair styles, usually long hair tied with a ribbon left loose or in the form of a bow or also a velvet bow pin to hold tight a half updo .
They have a lot of bows/ribbons in different colours to accessorie their outfits.
You can see and example of all that also worn by saleswomen at department stores or just in any office.
Swedish women favour long hair but that's not the rule, of course.
Many people think that a typical Swedish woman has bright gold blonde hair or the like.
No, there's a particular blonde shade just called " Swedish blonde", which is a sort of ash ,more muted type of blonde tone (something like the one worn by Pss Madeleine).
I agree with you about some of Victoria's pant suits as opposed to her glamorous evening gowns not to mention her jewels display!
As to Victoria's bun, well I think it's s just a practical and easy way to keep her hair neat .
But It could also be a trick used to avoid stressing her hair too much with everyday new styles.
She just needs to apply some spray re- growth toning lotion when needed and that's all.
It's a way of postponing all hair colouring processes too.

    3. My 16 year old daughter dresses the same way. Today she wore a long floral skirt with an oversized sweater and her hair in a tight bun at the base of her neck. She topped it off with floral Doc Martin boots. Since she’s a ballet dancer, everything she wears looks great on her. Who understands young people’s choices??

Everything lovely, except the two allover prints. But now I know why I don't like them: A looong pattern column with too little woman above and under it. Too much.

Victoria has a fantastic figure - toned and well balanced. Almost everything she chooses to wear fits her beautifully, and across a variety of style choices (whether we agree with them or not). She is an example of perfect versatility.

  7. J'adore voir Victoria quand elle porte des robes dans des teintes douces comme le rose pâle qu'elle associe à l'occasion avec du blanc ; j'aime bien aussi quand elle est vêtue d'une robe bustier qui met ses épaules en valeur !

CP Victoria will be the next queen and ruler of Sweden. That's not ambition, a job where she can gain promotions and someday be president of a company; she will be queen, that's fact. Allison.

Interesting and some very thoughtful and varied comments on the CP's wardrobe choices. She is a dedicated, hard worker and in my opinion, fashion will never be her strong point, BUT she has other priorities. If a designer can't make clothing that is appropriate and flattering for my size and my age, I don't care what country they come from, I am NOT wearing their stuff. I do, however, see the need to wear certain cultural and traditional ensembles for those special, national events and when traveling to another country to show respect. (Even those clunky buckled shoes in Sweden. Twice a year would do it for me for those shoes.)

  14. CP Victora is such a striking woman. She looks healthy and fit, seems happiest in the outdoors and can carry off tiaras so well. The Napoleanic Steel Cut seems to have been made for her.
Helen has selected several of my favourite looks on CP Victoria. Modern and clean styles suit her well but occasional touches of whimsy also make me smile.
She doesn't seem to be a Disney Princess, but a strong modern woman. She seems admirable and interesting.
