On the evening of January 23, 2025, the Duchess of Edinburgh attended the Royal Corps of Army Music dinner at Gibraltar Barracks in Camberley. The Duchess is the Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Corps of Army Music (RCAM). The Royal Corps of Army Music serves as a Corps of the British Army, dedicated to providing and promoting military music. For the occasion, the Duchess chose to wear a stunning pleated lace gown designed by Erdem.

She's obviously a beautiful woman, but I don't like this dress.

Nevertheless, I find her just as beautiful with her hair loose. She has a beautiful smile.

Ah beautiful Sophie, I don’t think this is the dress for you. Because it’s so voluminous yet tied at the waist I think it’s only destined for tall very slim models. The colour and the glitter do her well, but the dress requires more structure to work as well as it should for its price and the event. Nevertheless, she’s lovely.
ReplyDeleteThese are exactly my thoughts too. It's a very pretty dress but not for Sophie. The light frothiness adds bulk to her figure. It is meant for a very tall and very slim person. But still, she looks lovely.

DeleteThis is a clear no from me. Lace, transparency, pleats, glitz&sparkle are all fine features. But please, not all of them applied from the jawline down to the floor in the horizontal, interrupted only by a self-belt that makes it look like a morning gown. Give us just a bit of skin somewhere - or a skirt like this, but with a *very* simple black top and a necklace.

DeleteI agree with you entirely about the neckline and the tie waist--it's not a flattering look overall. I also think that the colour is far too pale. She really suits strong colours but seems to wear a lot of cream and beige.
DeleteFar from the best choice this Erdem dress for the DoE; colour, fit as well as model are not so good. Maybe if the hair would have been in an updo the overall picture may have looked better

I don't like it on the model either. Looks like a (depending on the fabric) very luxurious, or very cheap nightgown.
ReplyDeleteThe dress is okay, perhaps in person it looks better. She would of needed a pop,of colour like gems along the collar. I think that if it was mid calf in length or 3/4 sleeve , wouldn’t look like the dress swallows her up.

There is footage on YouTube, this gown moves beautifully, falls well, she looked stunning. I like this gown and its nice to see a rewear of it. I'm not sure what the brooch is, but I can make out a necklace and earrings, its nice to see her usage of jewelry. Lovely!

Sophie looks so attractive in these photos. Her hairstyle is so soft and it compliments her dress perfectly., very soft.
ReplyDeleteI think Sophie has a very pretty, romantic look here. Erdem is not always my favorite, but I like the flowy, simple look of this dress. Sophie’s hair looks quite nice worn down and with some volume. She looks much younger than 60 to me.

Sophie is such a beautiful woman in a soft and demure way. I have mixed feelings about this gown but I like it better this time out because I think it is more flattering with her hair down. The hairstyle is a bit too sprayed and teased but I think the dress needs fuller hair than the sleek up-do the first time.
