On January 30, 2025, Queen Mary of Denmark visited Lerbjerg Forest in Lejre with the Danish Nature Fund and took a walk along the restored 5-kilometer section of the forest. Lerbjerg Forest, located south of Hvalsø in Central Zealand, is a natural area. Queen Mary of Denmark is the patron of the Danish Nature Fund (Den Danske Naturfond), which protects several natural areas in Denmark, including Lerbjerg Forest.
The Danish Nature Fund, in collaboration with local partners, has undertaken extensive ecological restoration in Lerbjerg Forest and introduced nature-based experiences and outdoor activities, making Lerbjerg Forest and its surroundings more attractive for both wildlife and people.
