On January 15, 2025, Queen Letizia presided over the event hosted by the BBVA Microfinance Foundation on 'Seeds for a Sustainable Future,' which highlighted the transformative role of cocoa and small and medium-sized enterprises in combating poverty, creating jobs, and enhancing opportunities and fostering progress for communities. The event took place at the Palace of Marqués de Salamanca in Madrid.
The dress fits nice, though the colour doesn’t brighten her face. Perhaps some jewellery would help. I also think that since she is wearing lower heels the length of her dress should be shortened a few inches.
ReplyDeleteI thought the very same thing about the length of the dress. Since she has been forced to give up her high heels, her dresses all need to be shortened. The longer skirts and dresses need a higher heel for proportion.
Delete@23:19 after reading your comments and agreeing I checked across at ufonomore blog where you’ll see actually she’s very sparkly in this dress and that it’s the lighting in the photos shown here that fills her. Re the length, when she’s standing I can see a hem raised to just below knee and sleeves lengthened to full length could look well with this dress, but in practical terms, when the royal ladies are sitting in public these longer hemlines are totally foolproof and no extremely careful sitting is required to keep their legs well covered. While Letizia is speaking in this dress (video on ufonomore) I think the simplicity and flow of the design means she can forget about how she’s moving and focus on her speaking, which she does so well.
DeleteYou just gave me the answer what's actually wrong in this outfit that seemingly looks perfect. This A-line skirt with those shoes... they just don't go together. Besides shorter skirt, maybe a solid block-heel pumps would have done the trick.
DeleteI wouldn’t disagree with that.
Delete-Astrid.
Completely agree
DeleteYes, I agree as well.
DeleteIn agreement with you all. The suit is nice but the length is wrong for the low heeled shoes. It makes the outfit look frumpy.
DeleteLove the style but not the colour, it drains her. Too many women wear grey and it doesn’t suit them. I know it’s black and white but it gives the illusion of grey.
ReplyDeleteThe contrast adds sophistication and elegance without being too harsh. For Letizia's complexion, this palette can create a timeless, chic look, and I wouldn't say it drains her at all—it's a classic choice that highlights her poise. Sometimes, a more neutral or subdued color scheme can actually bring out a person’s features in a unique way!
DeleteFor me, the long length of the skirt, the dull colour of the outfit, the lack of any jewellery (even a tiny brooch), and the low heels gives a very sedate look to the normally stylish Letizia. The top and skirt are nice, but they could have been styled better and still be pleasantly low key if that was the intention.

The understated approach feels quite intentional—perhaps a nod to elegance without being overly flashy. The absence of accessories and the muted tones create a calm, polished aesthetic that doesn't need much else to shine. Sometimes less really is more, and the focus on clean lines and subtle details can be just as stylish as a more accessorized look.
Delete@Anon 11:56 I'm well aware that sometimes less is more can be elegant, but in this case I find that it's just too dull.

As well the coat as the dress are too long.
ReplyDeleteVery good dres and I love the shoes!
ReplyDeleteMe too! I don't see anything wrong with the length of the skirt and the not-so-high heels.
ReplyDeleteShe is wearing earrings. They are just simple compared to what other queens might wear. Sometimes the jewels enter the room before the wearer. I like her simple style. I was thinking that if she was still able to wear her high heels, she may have opted for a red shoe.
DeleteActually, this dress is anything but bland and dull. This is the effect of a photo flash. The dress has black, blue, light yellow and pink threads in it and is quite bright. I have a jacket in the same material. You can see the colors better here https://ufonomore.com/blog/2025/1/15/queen-letizia-attends-seeds-for-a-sustainable-future-conference though it is also flashed and not as bright as in real life.
ReplyDeleteI never quite understood what it means that a colour drains somebody. This effect is mostly created by the light, especially if indoors and flash is used. Agree with the length. I think for this type of dress, if shorter, even ballerina flats would go.
ReplyDeleteWould have looked better with a shorter skirt
ReplyDeleteA very lovely look today.
