On January 24, 2025, Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway visited the International Library of Fashion Research (ILFR) in Oslo. The ILFR is a nonprofit specialist library, a meeting place, and a research center dedicated to fashion. Upon her arrival, the Crown Princess was welcomed by founder Elise By Olsen and ILFR's Head of Communications, Else Skålvoll Thorenfeldt.

During her visit, the Crown Princess explored the library's extensive collection of fashion-related artifacts, including catalogs, press releases, invitations, and other promotional materials. The collection comprises over 15,000 physical objects and printed materials, such as books, magazines, and historical documents dating from the 1970s to the present.

The International Library of Fashion Research was founded by Norwegian editor Elise By Olsen in 2020, following her inheritance of the personal collection of the late American Steven Mark Klein. The library officially opened its doors in November 2022 and has since become a key hub for both local and international creative industries.

She certainly can pull off the wide trousers, though it is not a fashion I like. The jacket is in perfect proportion to not look boxy

  3. Cette combinaison des trois couleurs dont la saumonée du pantalon va très bien à Mette-Marit !

Lovely outfit! The pants have a really beautiful silhouette, and are perfectly tailored. Their soft shade of coral works well with the other pieces. Kudos to Mette-Marit ❤️ — Jane

This outfit looks lovely on Mette Marit. I like the combination of colours.
First time I can actually say that these flared trousers look good on someone. Her height and her build make them work.

Yes, absolutely. MM has the stature for this outfit. I think Queen Maxima does too. (V.M.)

      In agreement with you.
Flared trousers are tricky to wear.
I can just envisage three royal ladies in my mind who can pull them off successfully : Cp Mette- Marit, Q.Maxima and Princess Charlene.

  8. The pants look good, but the jacket really makes the outfit, not large or boxy shape, she looks splendid.

Yes! Agree fully. Salmon is not easy to combine, and somehow the three colours in this case do not make a really good unified combination, they are on their own, so to speak.

M-M looks beautiful! Her outfit is so well put together--all the different colors complement each other and the Princess. Her glasses are great--very flattering on her.

Pretty high heels for the snow. I hope she was warm. But then again, despite all the hate for high heels, I always say if the wearer is fine and feels good wearing them, why not?

Not really a hate, at least on my part. I am just happy if high heels don't dominate the scene all the time, making it almost a "must".

She goes from the car to the door so I think she could manage it 😉

11:54 Your phrase " despite all the hate for high heels..." speaks volumes.
    Feels so strange, you know.
One can't favour high heels for a number of reasons but hating them seems to imply that you deeply dislike who can wear them and feels good in them as well
It would take me long to explain how much people in Norway are used to extreme weather conditions, more than simple wearing high heels in the snow, trust me!
I am sure that the Princess wore them given the prominence of this visit.
Then, look at her overall ensemble.
She has no puffed jacket, no faux fur , no coat on.
    Guess what?
The Norwegians are quite used to low temperatures and the car stopped just in front of the library, not far from the main entrance.
The Princess didn't walk for miles!

Lovely outfit. She looks great. Has been great seeing her, the hubby and Sverre Magnus out and about together several times this last week. Hope we will see the prince participating more in the future.
