Beautiful names and congratulations! However, either photo, or no photo, but please: no sleeves placed carefully in front of her face. No problem if people don't want to show the face of their baby, it is their decision, I respect it, even though the face of a newborn baby does not make it recognizable in later days. Let the birth be known - but stop these ridiculous non-pictures.

Absolutely agree, especially about the photo. Does Sienna not have the middle name Elizabeth as well? Congratulations to this lovely family

And I would assume that eventually this child is going to be accompanying them to family events – like Christmas service with the King (either Charles and or William), Trooping the Color, etc. – and will therefore be photographed. So, what is the point of hiding the face especially, as someone else noted, most baby’s faces are that distinctive?

Just release a statement and leave at that.

Anyway, congratulations and continued good health.

Agree. I don’t see why they could have at least shared a profile. The Belgian princess, Maria Laura, did so.

Wishing them.a lot of Luck with Athena. I don't understand these kind of pictures. If you cannot really see the baby it's no use to publish

Seems cute and congratulations to the parents - but I’m miffed by the new trend of posting a photo of a baby which is not a photo of the baby. Better not to post a pic and just let the words carry the message.

  7. If they don't want us to see the baby's face, don't bother posting a picture. Last time it was a foot or it's fingers, now this

Beautiful and thoughtful name. Incorporates Greek element from Prince Philip of Greece and Beatrice’s Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Great Aunt Margaret Rose.
In retrospect, the doctors dictate for Beatrice not to travel at Christmas was a wise one.

That’s a tiny one 1.96kg. Hope she grows well and that her lungs are ok. I suspect this is a photo from the father’s Instagram rather than a formally shared photo so he’s just followed the recent trend of hiding baby’s face. A bit silly if press photo but normal protection on a personal account.

Wasn’t she due in the spring? She seems to be a premie so hope she continues to do well. Athena is a lovely name for this sweet baby.

I'm happy to hear that baby Athena is doing well. She is a tiny baby. For those that are annoyed about the picture not showing baby Athena's face, you need to get over it. You sound selfish. No one owes the public pictures of their children, even when there are so many people eager to share in the arrival of a baby or the milestones of a child's life. This is how people can share, yet keep their children safe. Sadly, we are never going back to the days of showing the face of young children ever again. We live in a very different world now, where terrible things can happen to these children, even using their pictures. I understand not everyone is worldly and understands what the consequences can be. Predators use these pictures for nefarious purposes, including the worst thing you can imagine--digitally altering these photos into explicit material. While it is dangerous for every child, images of a child of well known people reach international exposure instantly. Also keep in mind that once something is posted online, it never goes away, in its original form or an altered form.

Definition of "sharenting": the practice of parents sharing photos of their children online

    Sharenting Dangers of Child Predators:
"Another potential consequence of parents sharing photos of their kids online is unwitting exposure to child predators. In the same survey by SecurityORG it found that nearly 80% of parents say they have social media connections whom they have never met in real life. The images parents share can contain information that allows predators to track children. For example, images might show the child’s school or uniform, or the street name of the family home, while geotags can allow people with nefarious intent to track the child’s real-time location. In addition, because parents cannot control how far these photos spread, it is impossible to know where they end up, even with privacy controls in place. As such, it is important for parents not to engage in ‘oversharenting’ images of their child and minimize the ability of potential predators to find and abduct the child."

In another section of the article: "The images could even be altered and misused by malicious actors."

20:54 you see the darker side of life with this long comment! It is true that bad things happen but also true that the vast majority of people have a pretty good or slightly boring day. We come here to relax and peek into a different world and do not need to bring the darkest views in with us!

I really don't think parents like Princess Beatrice and Eduardo can win today in terms of publishing photos of their children. Some people demand to see the child's face and get mad when the parents post a photo but obscure the child's face. Then, if parents do not publish a photo at all people get mad. You cannot have it both ways--and, keep in mind this is not your child or your decision. I applaud Beatrice and Edo for trying to find a safe way to share their precious newborn daughter with the public yet maintain the safety of their child--which is every parent's priority. Anon 20:54 is 100% right. How about trying to be supportive of the parents and just express joy at the safe delivery of their sweet baby instead of focusing on what you want. Congratulations to the parents and siblings of precious and adorable little Athena!

Congratulation to Pss Beatrice and Edo, on the birth of their daughter Athena Elisabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi. Welcome to the World, sweet little girl. Beautiful names, Athena was also the name of Aristotle Onassis first wife. Also, Css of Monpezat, the daughter of Prince and Pss Joachim and Marie of Denmark.

Firstly, my warmest congratulations on the birthday of adorable baby Athena!
Then, I completely agree with Anonymous 20:54 and Janet at 02:42.
    Very wise words.
The public would get mad either way so parents will always be blamed for pubishing or not publishing their children's pics.
It's only up to a royal newborn's parents to decide what to share with the public also as far as later stages in their child's growth are concerned, at least until the child is still a minor.
However, international exposure is inevitabile when showing up at particular family and national events.
Yet again, the higher the titles, the harder and potentially dangerous the job and related international exposure.
This is part of the royal "game" , so as to say.
A monarch's and a CP couple's children are expected to be pictured at every and each prominent event more than any other member of a royal family.
    It goes without saying.
