On January 16, 2025, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium hosted the annual New Year's reception for the heads of the European institutions based in Brussels, as well as the permanent representatives accredited to the European Union. The reception took place at the Royal Palace in Brussels. At the New Year's reception, Belgium's Queen Mathilde opted for a metallic floral jacquard midi dress by Dries Van Noten.

Queen Mathilde looks wonderful. I love this dress.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I love all of her Dries’ pieces. There’s simplicity in the designs yet they’re interesting and the flatter Q.M. very well. (V.M.)
DeleteI preferred the dress and the whole look of yesterday.
ReplyDeleteNormally I like it when Queen Mathilde is wearing a dress by Dries Van Noten. This time however, I think the pattern of the fabric is a bit too old for Queen Mathilde. I prefer her in a bright solid colors. Contrary to the other receptions this one took place again at the Royal Palace in Brussels instead of the Castle of Laeken. Probably due to the big number of participants (pictures seen on another site) one decided this reception should take place at the palace where the reception rooms are bigger.
ReplyDeleteDries van Noten never disappoints!
ReplyDeleteI love the look, perfect
ReplyDeleteI think this dress suits her figure splendidly. Often with high waisted dresses Mathilde wears a thin belt but I now see that de-emphasising her high waist is wonderful, lovely without a belt, showing her silhouette to its best advantage. The blue is lovely for her skin and hair colouring too!

ReplyDeleteHuh?
DeleteI do not understand what you mean .
Deletel'imprimé de la robe de Mathilde est très plaisant.
ReplyDeleteAs Anon 17:42 wrote: how good without too explicit waistline. I add: how good too without too a broad/voluminous skirt. Perfect.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, you’re right there. It’s ALSO the lack of big skirt that makes this so flattering! The softer drapier material is more flattering than the Natan materials for her figure (at least for the skirt component).
DeleteI like that the Queen is wearing blue and gold. The colours of Europe. :-)
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody know who is the lady with the pink blouse?
CC
I think she is Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament.

DeletePar rapport à la robe d'hier, c'est ce modèle de robe qui a ma préférence !
ReplyDeleteShe looks wonderful in blue.
