  3. I like the queens hat and coat. CP Victoria and family are dressed warmly. I can’t say I like those heavy boots she wears, though with a thick sole like that her feet would stay warm. I know Estelle is wear them too, though it seems to suit her better, imo.

    1. I agree, Queen Silvia’s hat and coat are beautiful and have such a timeless elegance to them. As for Crown Princess Victoria and her family, they definitely look cozy and well-prepared for the cold weather. I understand your thoughts on the boots—they do seem a bit bulky, but you're right that the thick soles help with warmth. Estelle pulls them off with a youthful charm, though, which makes them look more fitting for her. It’s always interesting to see how each generation interprets style!

  4. Heavy boots are very common in Northern countries in winter time. They have good soles which help you not to slip on the icy ground./Grace

  6. Pour cette cérémonie commémorative, la famille est vêtue très chaudement ; comme d'habitude, la reine nous montre son goût avec le style du chapeau tambourin ainsi que de son manteau !

  7. It's a deeply meaningful gesture for King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia to attend the memorial service in Uppsala Cathedral, and for Crown Princess Victoria and her family to honor the victims at the memorial site in Stockholm. The tragedy of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami remains a poignant reminder of the immense loss of life, and such commemorations help keep the memory of those lost alive while also expressing solidarity with the affected families around the world.

Queen Silvia looks lovely and appropriately attired for the solemn occasion. And despite the cold winter weather in her area, she manages to get through it with OUT wearing "heavy, clumpy boots". Strong and resilient. Granted, she was not walking on snow and probably not to far to walk outdoors, but she managed to wear traditional pumps. Just my observation from the different generations in this photo set.

    2. You're absolutely right! Queen Silvia does indeed look elegant and graceful, even in such a cold setting. It's impressive how she can maintain such poise while sticking to traditional footwear like pumps, especially in winter. It speaks to her experience and confidence, as well as the expectations of royal duty, even in challenging weather. You're also spot on about the generational contrast—each era has its own approach to style and practicality.

  10. The heavy boots for a teenager are a fashion statement, for Princess Victoria I would have preferred a more flattering style.
