On December 26, 2024, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia attended a national memorial service at Uppsala Cathedral in memory of the victims of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami. Meanwhile, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Princess Estelle, and Prince Oscar visited the memorial site at Royal Djurgården in Stockholm to lay a wreath on behalf of their family. On December 26, 2004, a tsunami in the Indian Ocean caused the loss of approximately 230,000 lives.
How very moving. My condolences to the lives lost.
ReplyDeleteNice to see that there is always a sense of Duty, no matter what the occasion. Holidays or just less on the Calendar the RL look very nice.

I like the queens hat and coat. CP Victoria and family are dressed warmly. I can’t say I like those heavy boots she wears, though with a thick sole like that her feet would stay warm. I know Estelle is wear them too, though it seems to suit her better, imo.
ReplyDeleteHeavy boots are very common in Northern countries in winter time. They have good soles which help you not to slip on the icy ground./Grace

DeletePour cette cérémonie commémorative, la famille est vêtue très chaudement ; comme d'habitude, la reine nous montre son goût avec le style du chapeau tambourin ainsi que de son manteau !
ReplyDeleteIt's a deeply meaningful gesture for King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia to attend the memorial service in Uppsala Cathedral, and for Crown Princess Victoria and her family to honor the victims at the memorial site in Stockholm. The tragedy of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami remains a poignant reminder of the immense loss of life, and such commemorations help keep the memory of those lost alive while also expressing solidarity with the affected families around the world.
ReplyDeleteThailand was a popular destination for swedes before 26 th of december 2004!
