  2. Wearing a skirt like that is very brave. Not sure if I like it though.

  3. This is a washout for me. Nice shape to the skirt, but the color combination and overall look are missing something for me.

    1. Pretty idea but I agree - don't like the colors. .

    2. I get what you're saying, but I actually think the color combination adds a unique touch. It’s a bit bold, but sometimes those contrasts can really make an outfit stand out. The overall look has its own charm, even if it’s not for everyone!

    3. I agree. For a night at the opera, I’d hoped for something ultra glam. The top is like a school shirt, and the skirt is unattractive. Sadly, Queen Letizia’s outfits on this whole trip have been underwhelming. Very disappointed

  4. Maybe QL took the wrong luggage, she has missed the mark with almost every outfit she has worn. Rem

    1. It’s true that not every outfit resonates with everyone, but I think Queen Letizia often takes fashion risks that not everyone might appreciate. Her style can be quite bold and avant-garde, even if it doesn’t always hit the mark for all tastes.

    2. Kraljica Leticija je tako vitka i manekenske gradje da može da obuće sve. Ipak, imala je ona mnogo ljepših i glamuroznijih izdanja od ovog koje je upriličila za posetu pozoristu..

  5. I cannot be enthusiastic about a good skirt with just a simple white blouse combined. A white blouse, how elaborated it is, will always stay just that.

    1. True, but in the context of this theatre in this city the outfit is wonderful!

  7. This outfit is a no for me. The skirt is much too wide and too stiff. A simple white shirt to assist at a solemn ceremony where the king is awarded with the title of Doctor honoris causa of the University of Naples. Her outfit is not appropriate and the colors of her skirt and shirt are a bit too pale too. She has a lot of better and more appropriate dresses for a ceremony like this.
I prefer Laura Mattarella's black pant suit and silvery top.

    1. I think Queen Letizia’s outfit brings a refreshing modern take to the occasion. The skirt's structure adds a unique touch, and the softer tones can still be appropriate for a solemn ceremony, especially when paired with the right accessories. She often chooses elegant, refined pieces, and this look feels consistent with her style, even if it’s not what everyone might expect.

    2. There is of course an explanation for everything. Funny it is only said about a certain number of Queens and/or Princesses, even if a lot of us do not like it.

    3. I fail to see how this is "not appropriate". What should she have worn?

  8. Elégante blouse blanche mais je ne peux pas dire qu'elle se combine avec ce genre de jupe !

  9. A skirt like this would be wonderful with a top that is not a shirt. Even if a shirt is made from the world's finest silk, it is a very different style. We have seen many royal ladies with wide skirts on festive occasions, notably Victoria or Mary but Letizia too, but then with a simple figure hugging top and no collar at all .

    1. That's a great point! A more fitted top without a collar could have balanced the volume of the skirt and created a sleeker, more streamlined look. The combination of a wide skirt with a looser shirt does give a more relaxed vibe, while a more tailored top, as you mentioned, would have brought in that elegant, figure-hugging silhouette we've seen with other royals. It’s all about finding that perfect balance between the pieces!

  10. Contrary to others, I think this outfit is very stylish à la old Hollywood. Think Breakfast at Tiffany’s. You especially see this in the final photo here. A stunning, different and stylish outfit for a visit to Napoli.

  12. This outfit looks lovely, a departure for the Queen, with regards the full skirt such as this one, regardless she looks beautiful. Very elegant.

Yes Ava, the skirt is quite unusual for Letizia.
It could be explained as a nod to all performing arts, including ballet, and to the prominence of this ceremony.
I think it's a themed outfit meant to strengthen the still existing tight bonds between Naples and Spain.

    2. P. the original. You make a good point, and one that didn't cross my mind. The skirt a nod to the surrounds, great idea! Regardless I thought she looked fabulous. Hugs

  13. I truly cannot see what all of you love about this. It’s too, just pale and the shape is not at all attractive to my way of thinking. Almost anything would have been better.

    1. It’s totally fair to have a different opinion on fashion—it’s all about personal taste! While this particular look might not resonate with you, others may appreciate its simplicity or elegance. Fashion is subjective, and what one person loves, another might not connect with as much. It’s what makes discussions about style so interesting!

  14. Queen Mathilde's short cape has been compared with a lamp shade, well to me Queen Letizia's skirt is a very big lamp shade for a very big lamp.

    1. While Queen Mathilde’s cape may have received mixed reviews, Queen Letizia’s skirt is certainly bold and dramatic, which can evoke strong opinions. Fashion is often about personal expression, and sometimes those unique pieces are what make a lasting impression, whether we love them or not.

  15. For a night at the opera this look is a no for me. The skirt has real possibilities for an event like this but the blouse is a total no. To elevate the look of the skirt the top had to have something other than the look of an everyday blouse--this one looks like she grabbed one out of the business section of her closet. A little black sweater with a bit of sparkle at the neckline would have been perfect. I do not buy the fashion risk-taking here--this is a mismatch. The skirt is elegant but the top is mundane. Queen Letizia usually impresses me no end but her fashions for this visit have been, with the exception of the Ferretti suit, pretty much big nos and not particularly flattering to her.
