On December 17, 2024, Queen Letizia of Spain attended the 17th International Seminar on Language and Journalism at the Yuso Monastery in San Millán de la Cogolla, La Rioja. This year's theme, "The Language of War: How to Report on Conflict," was organized by FundéuRAE (Foundation for Urgent Spanish) and the San Millán de la Cogolla Foundation.
Mango Double-breasted Blazer
Nice trouser suit with perfect length trousers and good warm coat. I just feel that all Queen Letizia’s outfits have been very muted recently. Hope we get a return to something brighter soon

I see where you're coming from, but I think Queen Letizia's recent outfits have had a more refined, neutral tone, which is a signature of her elegant style. Plus, she did wear a beautiful pink ensemble just last week, so she’s definitely not shying away from color. It seems like she’s balancing both subtle tones and bright hues in her wardrobe, which adds a nice variety.
DeleteLetizia est élégante dans ce manteau mais ma préférence va sur celui de couleur rouge de la dame blonde ; il fait plutôt festif !
ReplyDeleteIn Spain "red" is not connected with Christmas because we do not have Santa Claus, we celebrate the Three Magic on the 6th of January. The colours of Christmas are gorld and silver.
DeleteOh, that's interesting Anon 23: 02.
DeleteI didn't realize that Santa Claus is not a part of the Spanish celebration of Christmas.
Fellow bloggers share lots of interesting information on this site.
Red has nothing to do with Santa Claus. The red Christmas balls are remembering the red apples poor people used to conserve during winter and hanged in a tree as a present for their children together with the nuts they found in the woods. It is also a welcome to the new season when the light will be shining longer again and the evenings will start later. The colors used for Christmas are remembering this, gold is for sunlight, the silver for the stars which become more visible, red and green for the new plants and flowers which will come out soon. In ancient times mother baked also cookies to hang in the tree. My parents told me that the custom of putting a Christmas tree in the house became a habit in my country after World war II. Before people at home and in the churches instead of a tree put a copy of a stable with statues of little Jesus in his krib, Mary and Joseph and the ox and dunkey and also the 3 kings who came from the Orient to bring presents for the new born king. Nowadays in Catholic churches and families sitting rooms, the tree and the stable are standing together.

DeleteIn big parts of Europe we have Saint-Nicolas (December 6) instead of Santa Claus who is more tradition in English speaking countries. The history of both can be googled. I have also heard that it was Queen Victoria (or her German husband Albert von Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha) who has introduced the christmas tree into the palace and the U.K. The custom of putting a christmas tree into the house comes from the German speaking countries like Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

DeleteThanks for your additional information too.
Yes I read many years ago that it was Prince Albert who introduced the tradition of the Christmas tree.
At itself nice simple pantsuit but the jacket is too long for Letizia imv
ReplyDeleteI understand your perspective, but I don’t necessarily agree. The longer jacket can actually add an element of sophistication and elongate her silhouette. Queen Letizia often opts for tailored pieces that suit her style, and this jacket gives her a modern, chic look. The length may not work for everyone, but it definitely complements her overall refined aesthetic.
DeleteThis pantsuit looks good, it fits well and I love the color. She looks very stylish and elegant. I do love the red coat the lady with the blonde hair is wearing, gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI have been very disappointed with Letizia's style lately. I know she is not a model but she used to dress so spectacularly when she first became Queen and for some years afterwards. I really admired her style. But, for a while now she seems to have lost her "verve" when it comes to her clothes. She no longer has that "wow" factor and seems to have lost her enthusiasm for fashion. This pantsuit is so dull it does nothing to enhance her image.
ReplyDelete… or maybe the sombre simple clothes do actually enhance her image, making her more approachable! She’s at a monastery in these photos, with topic “ This year's theme, "The Language of War: How to Report on Conflict” so maybe muted is good?
DeleteI understand your perspective, but I don’t necessarily agree that she’s lost her "verve." Queen Letizia’s style has definitely become more refined and sophisticated over time, which might feel less dramatic compared to her earlier, more daring looks. While this pantsuit may be more understated, it still highlights her elegance and poise. Fashion evolves, and sometimes a more subtle approach can create a timeless appeal. It’s possible that she’s simply embracing a new phase in her style journey rather than losing enthusiasm for fashion.
DeleteGood points Anonymous 18/12/24 12:55. Letizia is older and wiser now. She might be embracing a more minimalist and mature look. I should view her outfits with a different attitude.
