On December 22, 2024, the traditional Christmas photo of the Norwegian Royal Family was released, featuring King Harald, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, and Princess Ingrid Alexandra. The photo was taken by Stian Lysberg Solum. On December 25, the Royal Family will attend the Christmas service at Holmenkollen Chapel.
Pia Tjelta Alicia Tinkerbell Dress
Very strange to not included Prince Sverre Magnus, who unlike his troublesome big halfbrother is a very member of the Royal family of Norway.
ReplyDeleteI feel so sorry for the King and the Queen to witness such horror happening inside their family at their age. They deserve so much better. My hope is on Ingrid Alexandra to level up the respect for this house.
MARIE
@MARIE I feel sorry for YOU. As an adult, you should know better. In keeping with the spirit of the season, you thought airing this family's dirty laundry in a post about a Christmas card was a good idea? We all know what is going on. You didn't need to mention it yet again. Not everything needs a comment. When you don't have something decent to say, it is better to err on the side of caution and keep quiet.
Delete100% Agree with Anon 17:43.

Wonder why Sverre Magnus was not in the photo?
ReplyDeleteThe Royal Court explains this with the fact that he lives in Trondheim and wasn´t in the Oslo area when the photo was taken :)
DeletePrince Sverre Magnus lives in Trondheim and was not present in Oslo for the Christmas photo.
DeleteHmm! Very strange!
DeleteThe family can take a picture whenever the want, when Sverre Magnus also is present! No reason at all to leave him out of the picture!
DeleteThat is normal when the children become adult. In Belgium on the pictures of the Christmas concert you only see the king and queen and the two daughters/princesses. The boys/princes are studying abroad. That is why they ordered a picture for their Christmas card during summer, when all the children were at home. In Spain the Christmas card was also made from a photo taken of the complete family on another ocassion. In Norway the children are adult too. Lucky Princess Ingrid Alexandra could make it, since she is doing Military School. From The Netherlands we didn't see any Christmas card or pictures yet. From Sweden I think we didn't see Christmas wishes either.
DeleteBoohoo whining whining 🤣😂
Also die drei stehenden Personen : ) -Dorothe-
DeleteIt seems odd Sverre Magnus is not in the picture.
ReplyDeleteI don’t care for Mette-Marit’s and Ingrid Alexandra’s floral dresses. The King and Queen look very festive in attire.
-Royal Watcher
Of course you don't, but since we are in the gift giving period I suggest you wish Santa comes with some glasses since MM dress patterns are birds ;)
Delete@Anonymous 23:40 - And I suggest you wish Santa comes with a book on manners for you.
DeleteAnon 15.03 👏🏻
DeleteOh, so snarky 🤣😂
DeleteThis pic is about the dynasty, the heirs incl. spouses. And if Sverre Magnus (maybe) has other plans than being an active Royal, he does not necessarily have to be part of it. And: if he were in the photo, there are always nice people who would pose the wholly futile question why MM's other son is not there in a family photo ... so let's be happy that the ladies look nice - even if I can't help disliking small flowers all over Mette Marit.
ReplyDeleteYou mean birds, not flowers...
DeleteDear Anon 23:41, not that it matters that much because tiny birdies or tiny flowers scattered everywhere evoke the same "sweetness". But: I looked it up before writing "flowers" here: https://piatjelta.no/products/10584104-amelia-tinkerbell-black , 2nd picture - and I see no birds.
DeleteLovely family, the king is looking well in this photo. As stated above it looks like an impromptu snapshot. The queens shoes don’t seem to match but the colour of her dress is very festvie.
ReplyDeleteI wish that princess Ingrid Alexandra wore a solid color dress in red, burgundy, or green to balance out the picture. The two dresses in prints next to each other just don’t go together. Otherwise, It is nice to see the family together.
ReplyDeleteWhere is Sverre Magnus and Marius?
ReplyDeleteSverre was in Trondheim where he lives for the time being, and Marius hasn't been on a christmas photo since he turned 18.
DeleteDans ce cas-là, c'est la robe de Mette-Marit qui a ma préférence - Pour avoir un avis concernant l'absence de Sverre Magnus, certainement qu'il a un engagement qui l'empêche d'être présent !
ReplyDeleteLovely family, clothing does not matter, just the smiles and knowledge they took the time to share of themselves at Christmas, even though Sverre Magnus was not able to be at this photo shoot, his smile is kindly remembered.
ReplyDeleteA horribel year for this old people to have children that gives them scandals all the way.
ReplyDeleteIn this position you must behave.
Mette marit is not ok
Wtf! Try some decency. Is this what you think christmas is about?
DeleteFashionwise they give an impression for 2025.
ReplyDeleteBeauty all around - festive and elegant.

This photo was taken 25.12. as explained in the main capture, so LAST YEAR.
ReplyDeleteI find this picture very nice despite of floral dresses and queen Sonja's shoes. I see no reason to stand "cheek to cheek".
There is no such thing written in the caption.
DeleteOops, my mistake. It's not from last year 🫣.
DeleteCP MM looks beautiful, I love this dress. The Princess looks equally lovely as does the Queen.
ReplyDeleteNice photo. They look smashing.
ReplyDeleteIngrid has been in moms closet she is also wearing a Pia Tjelta Alicia dress. This fabric is from 2019. https://villoid.no/products/grace-short-dress-spitafields
ReplyDeleteBeautiful family. Strong and determined ! I admire them.
ReplyDeletePretty dresses. It was pleasing to see Sverre Magnus have an active role in the pre-Christmas musical event in the palace chapel last week. That should balance out his absence from a photo. Young adults are busy people. Chris L
ReplyDeleteI like your comment. What you say is true. Young people are very busy and have their own lives to live. He is an adult and it should be his choice whether or not he wants to be in the picture, if he is able.
DeleteStunning photo from last Christmas. The King looks so well here; and I wish him a new boost of energy and a spurt of good health in the new year. Lovely festive vibe to the pic. Merry Christmas Norway!
ReplyDeleteLast christmas? Really you mean earlier this week.
DeleteAnonymous 17:08, you do not need to correct people for small errors. Really, it comes across as quite abrupt. We can let people who are after all strangers to us have their small harmless opinions even with small mistakes!
DeleteAnon 00.19, fully agree. Another one that can wish for a manners book for christmas
DeleteQ S looks fantastic, nice dress to!
ReplyDeleteQueen Sonia has a beautiful dress. A pity her shoes and stockings do not have the matching color. CP Mette Marit and Princess Ingrid Alexandra's dresses are looking outdated. I know in certain countries they still like the floral fabrics. The color of their dresses was a bit sombre for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteLovely Xmas photo of the NRF. Do wish Sverre had been able to be part of the photo. The King and Queen look wonderful--King Harald looks the best he's looked in quite some time. Queen Sonja is quite festive in her red dress. The CP couple look good--M-M is looking very healthy and I like her in this dress. Ingrid Alexandra looks very pretty but I'm not a fan of her dress. Really wish M-M and Ingrid had worn solids--and in more festive colors--with the exception of Queen Sonja this photo could be any group photo instead of their Christmas photo. Yes, the tree is in the photo but if it were cropped out this looks like a nice family photo only.
ReplyDeleteJanet
More festive colours? The original uncropped photo is indeed a Christmas photo:

Irgendwas stört in dem Bild. Es ist, so denke ich, dieser Blumenstock zwischen Mutter und Tochter.
ReplyDeleteVielleicht möchte Ingrid-Alexandra ihrer Mutter durch die Blume sagen, dass sie erwachsen wird und mehr Abstand braucht? 😁 (Bevor jemand austickt: Das war ein Witz!)
DeleteI love Queen Sonja's gorgeous red dress -- so beautiful, so Christmas-y, with her luscious jewelry adding up to perfection. -- Jane
