Dutch Princess Catharina-Amalia turned 21 on December 7. She was born in The Hague on December 7, 2003. Amalia is the eldest daughter of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima. Since the investiture of her father as King on April 30, 2013, Princess Amalia has held the title Princess of Orange. This title can only be held by the heir to the throne. On the occasion of her birthday, the RVD released four new photos of the Princess.

Princess Amalia is currently focusing on her university studies. When her academic commitments permit, the Princess will participate in Prinsjesdag, visits, and receptions in preparation for her future role as head of state. In January 2023, Princess Amalia joined King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima for her first official overseas tour, and she attended her first state banquet with the Spanish royals in April 2024.

      Perhaps she is going to be a more low-key heir apparent with a more casual style. Nothing wrong with that. She has honed her hair, makeup features and figure and looks marvelous. She also looks approachable - excellent!

      I was going to say something similar. I hadn’t realised she’d turned 21.
      You look to her European counterparts,they have or are in training with one arm of the armed services.
      Maybe it’s on the cards come the new year.

    They made a choice in existing photos. The first is taken from the "2024 Autumn photo shooting" on November 29. The photo of Princess Amalia on her horse looks like it was taken much earlier. Amalia looks younger on the back of her horse.

    Really very pretty horse close-ups on the last two pics, with very little (and barely recognizable) Amalia and even that little we see is out of focus because the horse is the focus. Have I missed something about an equine heir apparent as backup?? I could understand this up to a 14th birthday but not a day more. But Amalia looks lovely on the first two pictures, I like these coats where the soft contours and fall accentuate the exquisite quality of the fabric.

      Wow didn’t know horse riding had an age limit. If so someone forgot to tell the British Royal family. Maybe this is her go to place to relax. She attends university and I suspect she is a very intelligent woman like her mother. Being in the military perhaps coming up, but she will be a wonderful figure head for the Netherlands

      @Anon18:01: I meant, of course, not a horse riding age limit. Photos like this are published showing royal children or teens, sure not as an official picture of a heiress entering her adulthood on this significant birthday.

    J'aime bien les 2 premières photos, c'est une belle jeune fille et son manteau est joli. Sur le cheval, son visage fait encore petite fille, elle n'est sans doute pas maquillée et ça la change complètement (ce n'est pas une critique). Paloma.

    Zo jammer, oude foto’s en niet even de moeite genomen om een koningin in spé los van de familiekiek op de foto te zetten, komt gemakzuchtig en onverschillig over , nee kan er niet blij van worden.

    She is so pretty. She appears to have regained her confidence, having lost weight and put the horrors of the potential kidnapping and fears for her security behind her . Will there be more formal photos? She looked great in gown and tiara recently

    Ze hield van de koninklijke familie en vereerde koningin Juliana Louise Emma Marie Wilhelmina...
    Vele jaren later bracht ik een heerlijke vakantie door op MONTE ARGENTARIO in de provincie GROSSETO (PORTI ERCOLE), waar koningin Juliane vele zomers doorbracht met haar familie...

    Contrary to other European countries, In The Netherlands the head of state is not the head of the defense forces. Therefore Princess Amalia will never have to do real military training.
