Japan's Empress Masako turned 61 on December 9. Born on December 9, 1963, in Minato, Masako Owada became Empress of Japan following her marriage to Emperor Naruhito. To mark the occasion, the Imperial Household Agency released new photos of Empress Masako, taken on November 27 at the Imperial residence in Tokyo.
In a statement issued for her birthday, Empress Masako expressed her thoughts to her family, the people of Japan, and those affected by the Noto Peninsula earthquake. Reflecting on the passing of Princess Yuriko, aunt of Emperor Emeritus Akihito, in November at the age of 101, Empress Masako said, 'I feel a deep sense of loss,' and expressed her gratitude, saying, 'Princess Yuriko watched over us with warmth for many years.
Beautiful couple, and exquisite materials, and jewelry.
ReplyDeleteLovely lady. Her brooch is so pretty and feminine.
ReplyDeleteVery lovely woman…
ReplyDeleteSuch an elegant and dignified lady. Many happy returns to her.

ReplyDeleteWonderful photos of her and her husband!
ReplyDeleteDelicate yet strong empress. Happy birthday. Sending my love to you and your family. 💗 The emperor always sharp 💜

ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, she looks very elegant. Love the ensemble, the pearl necklace earrings and brooch, perfection.
ReplyDeleteThe Emperor must be so proud of her - after years of trauma she is stepping up in ways that make me feel so happy. Japanese fashion is not the best, but she always looks appropriate, I love her best in a kimono. LRB
ReplyDeleteMasako looks lovely. The white is crisp and elegant and I adore the brooch. I always have to giggle a bit when they do the birthday pictures and are handed seemingly random objects to look at (I'm sure both the decorative plate and the books actually have a deeper meaning). Regardless, there's a lot of warmth between the Emperor and her and I'm glad that they both seem happy and healthy these days! Happy Birthday :)

Beautiful Empress Masako! She looks very pretty here--her cream suit is beautifully styled. Her pearl brooch is lovely and her matching necklace and earrings are perfect. Happy Birthday, Masako!
