Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, is making a two-day State Visit to the United Kingdom. The Prince and Princess of Wales welcomed Sheikh Tamim and Sheikha Jawaher earlier in the day. Later, King Charles and Queen Camilla welcomed Sheikh Tamim and Sheikha Jawaher with a state ceremony at Buckingham Palace in London.
For the special occasion, the Princess of Wales wore a maroon coat dress crafted by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. While the Princess of Wales is participating in the daytime elements of the state visit, she will not attend the state banquet at Buckingham Palace.
Lovely HRH, the Princess of Wales, but I'm so sad for HR, she is suffering...

Who is HR? And suffering?
DeleteCamilla. Prolonged pneumonia.
DeleteNice to see some foreign royals that we don't get to see too much of on these pages. I think that the Sheikha's coat is nice, but too long. Catherine looks splendid.
ReplyDelete- Anon 9:13
No the coat is so long for a reason, the other wifes of the emir wear long dresses as well.
DeleteThe full length of the dress and coat are cultural choices.
DeleteQatar is a Muslim nation and the women wear traditional types of clothing--meaning, their hemlines are to the floor. Her coat is an example of this tradition as is the beautiful red dress she is also wearing. Janet
DeleteCatherine looks beautiful. As for the sheikh, authoritarian ruler, 3 wives, 13 children, obscenely wealthy, I find him and this visit difficult to stomach.
ReplyDeleteI think that visits of foreign statesmen and monarchs are organized in cooperation with the Foreign Office. Britain's foreign policy interests also require negotiations with "problematic" states such as Qatar, China, Saudi Arabia, etc. The Royal Family is in the service of the foreign policy of the United Kingdom. If you want to criticize anyone for inviting these guests - then it is the British government.

Bravo Stephanie!
DeleteWhat a joy to see the PoW. Beautiful in burgundy.
ReplyDeleteI’m pleased to see Catherine re-wear her items. She has some exquisite pieces in her wardrobe, that deserve more than one showing. Maybe take a leaf out of Queen Mary of Denmark’s book. She truly is the recycling queen, when it comes to fashion.
Lowri.
It’s so funny that when a royal wears a coat or outfit more than once he/she is applauded for “recycling” where for us “peasants” it’s something we do all the time with no accolades! 😉
DeleteKate in her personal elegant style, simple, beautiful colour and lovely hat. The wife of the emir looks chique too. I saw a video when they came out of the plane, the emir with umbrella and his wife without huh???
ReplyDeleteHe has three wives, so no problem if one gets washed away by the rain....
DeleteCoralie 20:29, I nearly choked on my peanuts laughing when I read your comment! Hilarious!
DeleteAna Katarina
Coralie….it’d be a problem for the wife who gets washed away! 😊

ReplyDeleteA truly royal look. Simple, understated, elegant. Inspiration for me. I have a similar burgundy coat, leather boots, burgundy hat, and even a pearl necklace can be found at my place (Of course, it does not compare to royal jewelry.), . This pearl necklace with a diamond clasp is a work of art and Princess Catherine wears it very well.

Gorgeous ensemble for the Princess of Wales. The colour is beautiful and very becoming - and the jewellery is just exquisite. My only quibble is the fact that she can't take any of it off. It's always a bit weird to see everyone else in regular dresses and without hats and Kate still in her "outdoor" ensemble. Not a fan of Sheikha Jawaher's coat, but the dress underneath is stunning. The Queen is, well, the Queen - uniform and adorably matched with Charles, but nothing super special.

Nica, I am quite certain that Kate is wearing a burgundy dress indoors. You can distinguish this by the two clasps at the hips, which are absent on the coat. Frieda
DeleteAh, yes, you're right - that also explains the "double neckline" that's going on in the pictures with the coat on (which I think is quite interesting in terms of design). Still leaves her hat, though - she's the only one wearing one indoors.

La princesse de Galles, avec tact, a choisi de porter une tenue de la couleur du drapeau Qatari : Bordeau. Le blanc est repris dans les diamants. Quelle classe !
ReplyDeleteHow amazingly beautiful princess Kate is, inside out. So happy to see more of her.
ReplyDeleteCatherine - absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteTypical PoW's... late Queens pearl choker, late MIL's earrings and well worn coat. I know little about Qhidary culture or lifestyle but, I expected better than this! Hope this evening is much better!
ReplyDeleteCatherine looks & is beautiful no other words needed. Mary
ReplyDeleteSheikha Jawaher's coat has a button undone on the bottom right. Is this intentional?
ReplyDeleteMy guess, yes. Could one say a blink to fashion?

I think P. Catherine is unmatched in this kind of outfit - the hat, the hair, the sharp tailoring, the heirloom jewels. It’s a look that’s elegant yet restrained. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteIt’s so good to see her back. She looks so much better than she did on Remembrance Sunday when she looked exhausted. Love the colour of the coat and the delightful hat but just pleased she’s there at all
DeleteAnnieM
Sheikha Jawaher's diamond earrings are magnificent, the size and glistening factor is right up there. Catherine looks beautiful, the burgundy outfit I love as to her accessories. The pearl necklace, earrings and gorgeous pearl bracelet, beautiful. Its great to see her looking happy and more importantly well.
ReplyDeleteWhy has Kate got a hat on;it is out of place .I like the colour of the coat dress;nice court shoes would have looked better, than boots Camilla looks good. The sheik has 3 wives how did they choose which one would visit the U.K(Tara)
ReplyDeleteThey draw lottery, lol
DeleteAva
No, her hat is totally appropriate for a state visit.

DeleteCatherine looks beautiful in her maroon/burgundy ensemble. It is wonderful to see her. Her choice of Queen Elizabeth's pearls is perfect for the outfit and are also a sweet sentimental choice. It is marvelous to see Queen Camilla well enough to attend the gift exchange and luncheon too. She looks lovely in her blue dress. I also think I spy the Russian Sapphire brooch pinned to her dress--the brooch as a bit more heft to it that the Albert Sapphire brooch. I can understand her doctors wanting her to continue resting after her recent chest infection. I had pneumonia in October and was left with 4 additional weeks of recovery from what my doctor described as fatigue syndrome being seen more and more after viral and bacterial chest infections. I do hope Camilla continues to recover but listens to her doctors too.

Ladies may always wear hats indoors as part of their ensemble.
ReplyDeleteGood to see Kate back. Her treatment has taken a toll on her face, her eyes in particular look rather unwell.
ReplyDeleteLiteral dressing is her forte, picking colour(s) from the other country’s flag seems a favourite play from Natasha. Well done on this occasion.
I do have a couple of quibbles. Boots seem heavy, would have looked better with court shoes (in particular for the second part, as the event indoor apparently required her an outfit change anyway).
It does seem difficult to understand why women are so much dis considered in Muslim societies. I will refrain from further commenting, as this isn’t the place for it. Sheikha appears to have found a way to blend some western fashion sense with her double breasted coat with gold buttons that (length not withstanding) can often be seen in western countries. The red dress is really well tailored as well. She wears it well.
