  1. Ths Swedish Royal Family are treating us to a second night of glitz and glam, The King's Nobel Laureates Dinner. We finally have some tiara debuts for 2 princesses and I couldn't be more excited. Overall I think all of the ladies look beautiful, 10/10! Blue seemed to be the theme of the night.

Queen Silvia - Her Majesty chose to sport blue for a second time in a row and she looks lovely here. I wonder if Queen Sofia's Nine Prong tiara is her favorite from the collection. It has been her go to for this event over the years.

Crown Princess Victoria - At tonight's dinner the Crown Princess looked gorgeous. I love how she sported this navy blue gown from her collection. I believe we first saw this dress in her anniversary portraits when she and Prince Daniel celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary. Her jewelry choice for the night is simply stunning.

Princess Madeleine - Princess Madeleine made her debut in the family's Napoleonic Cut Steel tiara and it looks great on her. I hope she will continue to wear it from now on. For this occasion I would have gone with a updo or bun hairstyle given that the dress has a high neckline. I also would done a lighter makeup look, but besides that the princess looks very pretty tonight.

Princess Sofia - After many years Princess Sofia finally debuts a new tiara and honestly it's refreshing to see. The Swedish Aquamarine Kokoshnik is one of my favorite tiaras and it pairs perfectly with her aquamarine earings. Like the queen she also chose blue for a second time in a row and her glittery dress is lovely. I do not know if its the same one, but the dress looks like one Crown Princess Victoria wore a few years back when she was pregnant with Princess Estelle. Both hair and makeup are simply perfect👌 My favorite gala look of the tonight!

    1. Genni, you are right. Sofia is wearing the same gown that Victoria was wearing 2011 when she was pregnant with Estelle. Isn't that great.
All the ladies are looking good and is really nice to see Sofia wearing that beautiful Kokoshnik tiara. Only thing I do not like is the dull color of Madeleine's gown, but nevertheless she looks beautiful.

    3. Genni, I could not agree more! So nice to see that Sofia gets a chance to wear one of the family tiaras, and especially this one which fits her so well. Madeleine looks nice, but I am not sure that this tiara is the best fit for this dress, it is just too busy.

    4. Genni--thank you for your excellent commentary! Your hard work has saved me so much time during this hectic week. Love that Queen Silvia chose this tiara--it's a huge sparkler. I still have mixed feelings about Victoria's gown--there is something about the bodice and the short sleeves I have always wanted to change but she looks lovely--and I love Princess Lillian's tiara on her. Madeleine--wow! Another fabulous gown and I love it paired with the larger Steel Cut tiara too. I agree that her hair would have looked better up or even a half up/half down style. Finally--Sofia!!! Love that she is wearing a gorgeous gown that really suits her--wonderful to see Victoria share a gown as pregnancy must be a huge challenge to deal with in terms of gala gowns. Sofia looks fabulous. And she is wearing a different tiara! She looks beautiful in the Aquamarine tiara. Glad to see her branching out in both gowns and tiaras.

  5. Oh Wow!!!!! Princess Sofia in the Aquamarines just made my day!! And her dress borrowed from CP Victoria (or so I read) looks beautiful on her. All the royal ladies look lovely. And I know Sofia loves her wedding tiara with all her different toppers, but to see her again in a tiara from the royal collection makes me very happy. Joanna

Paloma.

  7. Madeleine's dress is a stunning creation, but I like Princess Sofia's overall look the best. Interesting that her mother-in-law has a very similar dress style too.

  10. I do not really like Princess Madeleine‘s dress but I presume it was designed to go with the historical tiara so that the ensemble must be appreciated in a different light. I read somewhere that queen Silvia’s elaborate evening gowns are created in Paris for specific reasons (workmanship).

  12. I think Sofia borrowed this maternity gown from Victoria, and I commend the princesses for this solution. I also think that Sofia looks fabulous in this new-to-her tiara, and her hair is very pretty here.
I´m not a fan of sequins unfortunately, so I don´t feel much love for Sofia´s or Silvia´s dresses as such, although I do like navy blue as a colour. Madeleine´s gown, a re-wear I believe, has sequines too, and I don´t like them there either (especially around the neck), but the design as such is actually interesting. The colour is an odd non-colour unfortunetly. And Madeleine´s make-up is rather harsh.
My winner here is Victoria, her gown is lovely and well-balanced, it fits her perfectly and looks comfortable. I only wish it was a deep jewel colour instead of this anthracite (or midnight blue?).

  13. What a pleasure to see the Royal ladies all looking so stunning. Queen Silvia looks sensational. Her gown, jewels, perfection. Madeleine looks splendid, love her gown. Her jewels, equally beautiful. Sofia is glowing and radiant, love her aqua tiara, beautiful. Her gown is gorgeous. Not so keen on Victoria's gown, I am not a fan of the tiers of the skirt of her gown. The tiara looks good, but not a fan of this one.

  14. Wow a gorgeous royal family. All the gowns are appropriate given they are in mourning of the kings beloved sister. Love the jewels!

    1. Yes. That is why they appeared in dark, subdued colours again, and I cannot find fault in it, even when some say that the colour of Princess Madeleine's gown looks drab or dull. It's the best they certainly could make of the mourning situation, but still come across festive for the two occasions. And the tiara choices are spot on as well. Love the "two debuts"!

    2. I think you’re probably reading something into this that’s not here. The event is very lavish and the gowns have not been chosen for “mourning”.

      Delete
    3. @17:28 I've read in Swedish media that they did chose darker colours for the gowns because of the passing of Princess Birgitta. Her funeral is the same week (I believe Sunday), and that's why.

    4. Thank you 19:10 for correcting me re the more subdued colours. It’s interesting to know and learn.

    5. @01:31 No problem, just wanted to add what I've read. I do like that they were able to pull off the expectations for a big event like this and still maintain a bit more subdued image with the colours.

  15. The blue dresses are so beautiful. Silvia’s elegant as always with beautiful jewelry, the tiara looks so good along with the rest. Victoria has a really beautiful dress this time, airy and elegant. Don’t like her tiara too much though…..Sophia’s so elegant and the tiara is pretty to the blue dress. But Madeleine, what happened? Among the ugliest outfit I’ve seen in a long time, color’s terrible, dress has no theme, that thing around the neck, noooo. And the tiara is a no no along with all that hair meddeling up in it all. Nope. The men - well, they look sympathetic except for Daniel who always looks bored, dull and like he would rather be somewhere else, and with that stiff halfphotoalmostsmile…….Love to see all the pictures, thank you! 3. An unfair summary you’ve given of a lovely, appropriate man. I heard Daniel speak a few years ago and I was fascinated to hear his insight and experience into the topic. He’s certainly not a dull person, but does know when it’s his role to quietly stand so that the women can shine.

    4. It sounds like you’ve really thought about each royal’s outfit and overall presentation! I agree that the blue dresses were stunning on many of the ladies, with Silvia, Victoria, and Sophia especially standing out in their regal ensembles. Their tiaras and jewelry definitely added a special touch to their looks, enhancing their elegance.

As for Princess Madeleine, fashion is so subjective, and it’s clear the outfit didn’t resonate with you. I think sometimes a bold or unconventional choice can be polarizing, especially when it doesn’t fit the usual royal aesthetic. That said, it’s always interesting to see how each royal interprets trends in their own way.

Regarding Prince Daniel, I can understand how his expressions might come off as less engaged in photos. Some people just have a more reserved or serious demeanor, especially in formal settings. But overall, it’s great to see the family all together and to get a glimpse of their individual styles and personalities! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

  20. The Swedish tiaras are very high, too high for me, I do like Sofias tiara best.
Victoria’s dress is a bit childish, Madeleines dress has the wrong colour, Sofias dress is sweet and the Queens: very stylish for her age

    1. It sounds like you have a different perspective, and that’s totally valid! Fashion is so subjective, especially when it comes to royal attire, where everyone has their own preferences. For example, while some might find the Swedish tiaras a bit high, they do have a long history and regal significance, which is part of their charm. As for the dresses, it’s true that Victoria’s might feel more youthful, but others may appreciate her more playful choices. Similarly, Madeleine's dress color may not be for everyone, and Sofia’s sweet dress might strike the right note for some, while others may prefer something a little more sophisticated.

The Queen's style is indeed graceful and age-appropriate, which many admire. Ultimately, it’s all about personal taste, and it’s great to see how each royal expresses their individuality through fashion!

And what a pleasant surprise to see two new tiara debuts - Pss Madeleine wearing the Napoleonic Cut-Steel Tiara for the first time (usually her sister has worn it ). And Pss Sofia wearing the Aquamarine Kokoshnik Tiara.

Very nice to see Sofia wearing the aquamarine tiara. She is not making the best of it though with the loose hair. As Melanie Griffith said in the movie Working Girl - if you want to be taken seriously, you need serious hair. Sofia is mostly lacking in the tiara hair department. A tiara is not a headband. Beautiful dress.

  23. I see much dresses that are a rewear, except Princess Madeleine's dress which gives me luxury lingerie vibes. CP Victoria is the only one who is dressed simple not much bling bling, that is what I like more and more lately. All the lace, sequins, too much jewelry, too high tiara's, no I don't like it any more. I prefer a more simple approach from the royals. All these old tiara's and necklaces may go to the museum. Maybe it is due to the international situation of which much people are feeling not secure anymore and are afraid for the future.

Why should jewelry go to a museum? So that only a few people can see it? When royal jewelry is worn by a member of the royal family, thousands of followers can admire it online and enjoy its artistic beauty. Tiaras are mostly historical pieces, so no new money is spent on them.
And you know what? Although I don’t have tiaras, I do have some nice jewelry, including diamond earrings, a pearl necklace, etc., mostly gifts from my husband. I wear them with pleasure and pride. My husband and I work hard and earn the money for them. (And we’ve done our share of charity work too.) The world is not right, there’s still a lot of suffering in it, that’s true, but when will it ever be right? I don’t think we should put all the joy and beauty aside.

    3. Interestingly, Queen Mary of Denmark just recently pulled out jewels that had been resting for decades in a museum to create a new tiara. That's quite the opposite of what you wish to do. Those old, historic pieces should be worn, that's the purpose they'd been made for back in the day. They are no museum pieces unless the country's monarchy doesn't exist any longer (like France, or Germany, or Austria). But that is not the case in Sweden, or any other country with a monarchy in place.

    4. @ Stephanie
Ush, don't tell about all the jewelry and money you have on the internet. Even if you use a nick name, big brother is watching you more than ever.
I think in a museum a lot of people can see it. Museums can also be visited online these days.
I didn't say that the royals must wear new jewelry, but the old jewelry is sometimes not very well looked after and is from times that the royals had all the power and the people in their country (children included) died because they were hungry. Besides the best looking queens are those who do not exxagerate with hugh tiara's plus a diamond necklace plus diamond earrings plus a diamond brooch plus a diamond ring plus diamond bracelet(s). I think at Queen Letizia, Princess Charlene, Queen Mathilde,....
Noble people and I do not only speak about royals, but people who have a noble hart usually do not tell anyone what they do for charity and how many fine jewelry they have. Occasionally they wear one or two pieces they inherited or bought a long time ago and all their friends and colleagues are looking at them and ask them how they got such a lovely necklace or such a beautiful brooch.

  24. I think Madeleine’s overall look here is my favorite. The steel cut tiara looks like it would be hard to wear well with current fashions and hairstyles, but I think Madeleine’s gray dress looks beautiful with it. I think wearing her hair down helps soften the look.
