Japan's Crown Prince Couple Attend Event Marking 100 Years of Diplomatic Ties

Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko attended a ceremony at the Ataturk Cultural Center

On December 5, 2024, Japan's Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko attended a ceremony at the Ataturk Cultural Center in Istanbul to mark the 100th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Japan and Turkey. On December 6, the Crown Prince and Crown Princess visited the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art. According to the Tokyo-based Japan-Turkey Society, friendly contact between the two countries dates back to 1887.

    CP Kiko looks lovely in her gorgeous kimono. The embroidery along the skirt is so beautiful. Her day wear is beautifully fitted but I cannot see too much of it.

    この着物模様は「流水色紙散らし」と呼びます。「色紙」とは墨と筆で和歌を書くためのカードのことです。庭園の川辺で貴族たちが和歌を詠む姿を連想させる雅な模様です。
