Today, on December 6, 2024, Princess Sofia of Sweden celebrates her 40th birthday. Sofia Kristina, Princess of Sweden and Duchess of Värmland, was born on December 6, 1984. The Swedish Royal Palace released a new photo of the Princess on the occasion of her birthday. The photo was taken by Danish photographer Hasse Nielsen for Vogue Scandinavia at Älvdalen’s heritage farm, located at Rots Skans Homestead Museum. The Princess is celebrating her birthday privately with her family.

Gongratulations to the beautiful princess! Stunning dress but the overpart looks a bit too high for her.
ReplyDeleteI fully agree.
DeleteAgree 100%
DeleteA beautiful color on Sofia but I don't like the unusually high and asymmetrical neckline.
ReplyDeleteWow. She is dressed in a beautiful up-to-date creation which suit her very well.
ReplyDeleteShe is a beautiful princess.
Very beautifull and sympathetic picture.
ReplyDeleteLove the tranquility of it.
Although she is quite lovely and beautiful in red I have often wondered is it uncomfortable wearing a gown like the one she is wearing!
ReplyDeleteI love the colour and avant- garde style of the dress, but I wonder what it looks like when you sit down? ( V.M.)
ReplyDeleteI think this is not a dress to sit down or to wear at all. It is only for being photographed. And why not for her 40th birthday? She looks wonderful.
DeleteHappy birthday 💗
ReplyDeleteThis kind of exklusive dress neads a better hairstyle
ReplyDelete@14:33 I like the contrast between the high-fashion-dress and the more natural hair and make-up and background. Gives it a real interesting touch, probably as an interpretation of her being a "commoner" before and now a princess.
DeleteI agree. Her hair gets lost in the dress. An updo would of looked so glamorous
Delete14.33 I agree!
DeleteAnon 16.23, I love that interpretation! The contrast between the high-fashion dress and the more natural elements really does create a powerful narrative, as if it's reflecting her journey from "commoner" to royalty. The understated hair and makeup add authenticity and relatability, while the dress elevates her into the regal role she's now embracing. It feels like a subtle yet profound way of blending the past and present, showcasing both her humble beginnings and her new royal identity. It’s a thoughtful and visually intriguing choice.
Paloma.
Congratulations to her birthday!
ReplyDeleteThis red dress looks very stiff as if it were a chocolate or cookie box.

I do not like the top of this dress - in the first picture I thought initially it looked like she was popping her head out of a Christmas gift box - but I really like the color and the bottom portion of the dress.

I love this gown! They stylist that worked on this photo shoot has made some wonderful choices.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cut and color
ReplyDeleteYes, avant-garde is a good attribute for that. Maybe the upper inner part can be tilted into a horizontal "bib" to catch bits and pieces gone astray at a state dinner? *giggle* . I like that she dared to wear it.
ReplyDeleteMagnifique Sofia dans cette couleur rouge mais je trouve que le haut original de sa robe monte trop haut ; bien belle quand même !
ReplyDeleteThe dresses in her Vogue photo shoot were gorgeous. This is, I'm sorry, hideous. The neckline is horrid and she looks uncomfortable. Awful portrait.
ReplyDeleteI understand your view, but I wouldn't go as far as to call it "hideous." While the neckline might not be everyone's favorite, it’s possible that the design was intended to make a bold statement or add an unexpected element. As for her looking uncomfortable, it could just be the way the moment was captured—it doesn't always reflect how someone truly feels in the outfit. Every piece has its strengths, and sometimes the uniqueness of a design can grow on you, even if it doesn't immediately have the same polished vibe as the Vogue shoot.
DeleteSooooooooooooo lovely as EVER
ReplyDeleteThis would be an interesting dress to wear at dinner. Especially if that first course is soup. LOL. I do like the satirical aspects of it but at the same time it seems more "costume-ish" than "wearable elegance." Jmo.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, she looks sensational.
ReplyDeleteShe looks awesome! beautiful, youthful and elegant.
ReplyDeleteGreat look for Sofia, red is a good color for her. Happy 40st Birthday to a beautiful young Mother of almost 4.

Princess Sofia looks radiant. She looks great in red. The gown is gorgeous, but a little too much for Sofia's small petite frame. This would look ravishing on Queen Maxima.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday HRH Sofia!
ReplyDeleteHer best photo ever! Stunning
