On 24 December 2024, Grand Duke Henri announced in his Christmas message his intention to abdicate in favor of Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume on 3 October 2025. The Grand Duke said in his speech, "The Grand Duchess and I are delighted to share with you that Prince Guillaume and Princess Stephanie will take our place on October 3, 2025."
Earlier this year, Grand Duke Henri named his heir as Representative Lieutenant of Luxembourg, meaning Guillaume now exercises most of the constitutional powers. When Prince Guillaume ascends to the throne, he will assume all powers as the new Grand Duke, and his heir will be his five-year-old eldest son, Prince Charles.
On 4 March 1998, Prince Henri was appointed as Lieutenant Representative by his father, Grand Duke Jean. On 7 October 2000, immediately following the abdication of his father, Henri acceded to the throne as Grand Duke of Luxembourg. On 23 June 2024, his official birthday, Henri announced his plans to appoint his son Guillaume as Lieutenant Representative (Regent) in October.
Stéphanie of Monaco is a real beauty!
ReplyDeleteLuxembourg not Monaco.
Delete00:03 … we don’t need to correct others’ inadvertent errors; a relaxing place here, with no teacher’s here correcting others’ work!
DeleteDear anon 10:56
DeleteI had to laugh about your comment being myself a teacher. And believe me, I don't always correct others. Sometimes I am happy when I don't see so many mistakes.😉 I.P.
Anon at 10:56, you don't seem to be relaxed at all. I don't think it's wrong to correct to the right country and it was only a harmless statement. There is Stephanie also in Monaco, so it's easy to make an error...
DeleteHappy New Year to all of you! Why not try to be more kind hearted next year 🎆✨️🤗
@Anon 10:56 The correction was not rude. She had the wrong Stephanie. A simple mistake, simply corrected. Correcting other's work is correcting their punctuation or spelling, not pointing out an incorrect name.
DeleteI agree with Anon. 16:19
DeleteThis is not a surprise to anyone as he made it obvious just recently without explicitly saying so. I think it is a great idea, to have a few excellent years of retirement enjoying doing all the things he and the GD love most. This will be an exciting year for the whole family.
ReplyDeleteOn the fashion side, Grand Duke Henri looks as smart and elegant as always. Lovely dark blue suit.

Princess Stephanie looks beautiful with her hairdo and style of dress.

This will be a nice change in Luxemburg. The young couple with their two adorable boys. As for fashion. Love Stephanie's dress, esp. the collar. The dress could be just a bit longer. MT finally in a simple dress in one colour that looks good on her
