On December 7, 2024, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium, Grand Duke and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg, Prince Albert II of Monaco, and the Prince of Wales attended the ceremony to mark the reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.
The medieval cathedral had been closed since a major fire tore through it in 2019, destroying its stained-glass windows and wooden interiors before toppling its spire. Notre-Dame has reopened following an extensive restoration project spanning several years.
Wow QM looks very good!
ReplyDeleteAlso the other royal ladies.
-Anna-
Also first lady Mme Macron is at her best.
ReplyDelete-Anna-
Mme Macron sometimes looks as if she has no neck, but always very well dressed
ReplyDeleteKteach, yes, it can happen as we age; those of us who start out in life with short necks often eventually have this “no neck” look and there are a three things that can help somewhat: an updo or shorter hairstyle, scoop-neck and V-neckline garments, and staying away from severe shoulder pads. For whatever reason, Mrs. Macron loves her shoulder-length hair, high necklines, and severe shoulder pads.
DeleteI think it has to do with her wig.
DeleteMrs Macron looks silly with that hideous wig, it just sit on her head like a hat, a few hair extensions would look far better.
Deletemjt
Hello Coralie. Is it a wig?

Hallo Deadeggs, I think it is a wig because it really looks always exactly the same (length, volume, colour).
DeleteHello Coralie, of course without any doubt it is a wig.
DeleteWishing you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and plenty of dancing on New Years Eve!
Ava
@ Anon10;:20 Mrs. Macron covers her neck because she has simply old neck, Bottox on face but you can not have Bottox in neck.
DeleteAva
Anon. 20:56
DeleteAre you insain ? Of course she has an old neck, just like queen Camilla and Queen Margrethe, Princess Benedikte and Queen Sofia,..... I don't think she has botox on her face. She has exactly the same face when she was much younger. If she had botox one would not see the fine wrinkles that one can see in close up photo's of her. Did it occur to you she might have neck problems due to artrose ? With the weather we have for the moment much rain, a lot of wind, high amount of humidity in the air,..... I cannot go out without a scarf, which keep my neck warm. People who suffer from artrose do not think about botox but receive special massages and excercises from a therapist. I can tell you all about it, being an artrose patient myself.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Ava! Yes, we will be dancing on new years eve! I hope you will have fun too and I wish you a merry christmas and a wonderful 2025!
DeleteNotre Dame is beautiful, now more modern. I see it many years ago and I liked it then, the History behind it, is fantastic. Royalty and Heads of State together. I liked the pictures I have seen so far. Brigitte Macron looked great again, as usual. So did the other ladies.
ReplyDeletecss
Queen Mathilde looks beautiful, love her ensemble, looks to be Navy in color, gorgeous. I love the addition of the pearl choker, elevates the look. Her up styled hair finishes this look off perfectly.
ReplyDeleteGD MT, I love her look! This outfit looks fabulous, very chic and stylish.
Madam Marcon looks beautifully groomed and stylish, as always. Very elegant.
I remain on the fence about QM's suit ; the top appears to me as being too heavy in relation to the skirt, but difficult to judge on the basis of the pics.
DeleteI also think GD MT looks quite good, perfectly proportionate outfit and well adapted to her morphology. Mrs Macron also very elegant.
I found a short video on QM. I conclude that I find her suit too bulky.

Well said, I agree all 3 ladies at their best
Delete@ MaryT : We are used by now that you always have to say something negative on Queen Mathilde.
DeleteMaryT, I see what you're saying! Personally, I think the structure of the top actually complements the fluidity of the skirt—creating a nice contrast that feels balanced. The heavy top helps anchor the look, preventing it from being too lightweight overall. But of course, it's one of those looks that can be a bit tricky to judge just from photos.
DeleteVery fashionable and chic attire for all the royal ladies in the cold French weather. Madame Macron looks lovely as always. She wears heels so beautifully. But sad to note Queen Mathilde looks uncomfortable in her high heels, and her ankles seem swollen making her shoes seem too tight and her foot in turned slightly over. Lots of walking and standing for this crowded cevent.
ReplyDelete@ Virginia Dogwood
DeleteQueen Mathilde is used to wear high heels. If you can walk with high heels on the cobble stones in front of the Royal Palace in Brussels, you can walk everywhere. I saw the video of the ceremony and the royals and heads of state were conducted by car just before the entrance of the cathedral. Once inside everybody could sit down immediately on the chair that was reserverd for him/her. Maybe you saw a picture when they all had to stand up when the bisshops and priests came in or walked out the cathedral.
Virginia Dogwood, I see your point, but I don't think Queen Mathilde appeared uncomfortable in her heels. She always carries herself with such grace, even during long events. It's possible that the angle or posture made it look like her feet were slightly turned, but I didn’t notice any major signs of discomfort. She’s often seen in heels and manages them quite well, even in demanding situations. It's impressive how she maintains her elegance regardless of the circumstances!

DeleteLook at the last picture of Queen Mathilde, King Philippe, President Macron, Madame Macron. Do you see Queen Mathilde's feet and legs ? Are her feet swollen ? no. In fact her legs are very thin. I am getting the impression you are looking always to find something negative to say.
Who’s the lady in red in the last picture?
ReplyDeleteNo idea as well !
DeleteI think she is Countess Diane de Guerre wife of Prince Jean, brother of Grand duke Henri.
DeleteI don't know, but she is elegant and beautiful!
DeleteThe lady in red is Princess Diane of Luxembourg.

Does anyone have any idea what brand Jill Biden's scarf is?
ReplyDeleteNo idea. But is she wearing Dior's slingbacks (in the photo where she greets PW)? Must be cold in that wet and cold weather.
Delete-SAF
Knowing Biden's taste the scarf must be from Dollar Tree store, lol
DeleteAva
@ Ava
DeleteJill Biden has a good taste to dress herself. She is looking much younger than her real age. Jealous maybe ?
@Anon16:02, good taste according to whom? I can not be jealous I am 32 years old!
DeleteAva
Does anyone have any idea what brand Jill Biden's scarf is?
DeleteI like Queen Mathilde’s skirt, but dislike the top with that belt & those pockets. Maria Theresa looks good
ReplyDelete@ Anon. 17:07
DeleteThere is no belt ! It is time you go to the ophtalmologist. I think you need glasses.
Anon 17.07, I see what you're saying, but I actually think the top works really well with the skirt. There’s no belt, but the clean, structured design with the pockets adds a modern, tailored touch that balances out the flowy skirt. It's a refreshing change from more traditional styles, and the details give it a unique edge. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but for me, it enhances the overall look rather than detracts from it!
Delete@ deadeggs, thanks for the link. It states Mme. Macron taught Latin. Gee, how many students did she help w/their vocabularies and they went on to become doctors or other medical professionals? She can wear her hair any way she wants in my book. Chris L.
ReplyDelete@ Chris L
DeleteDo you think that only doctors and medical professionals have to study Latin ? In secondary school you have the section Latin & Mathematics. It is considered as the best basic knowledge a student can follow. Those who followed this section in secondary school often become lawyers, judges, etc... Those who are more interested in Mathematics & Science often become engineers later.
Sweet comment Chris L; I like very much that we acknowledge who the humans are, instead of taking them down for their fashion choices. Anon 20:19, Latin is no longer regularly taught across most anglophone country curriculums, so I’m interested to read your comment and to know which country you’re from where Latin is still regularly taught?
Delete@ Anon. 21:49
DeleteIn Belgium, France, GD of Luxembourg classic secondary school still have latin in their program. Probably in Italy, Spain, Portugal too, but I am not sure.
In The Netherlands : I am not sure. Germany : maybe. The Scandinavian countries : I don't know anything about their Secondary schools.
In Europe there are a lot of possibilities to study. No one must study Latin, but it is still possible. I only gave you two possibilities of what you can study in secondary school, but there is much more.
Signed Anon 20:19
Latein , altgriechisch sind mögliche Wahl auf dem deutschen Gymnasium. Wir absolvieren das kleine oder große Latinum, quod erat demonstrandum...
DeleteSabsi
Anon 20:19, I kept my comment short because it was a tangent and not directly fashion related. I am very grateful for the progress the medical community has made in the fight against cancer, so that influenced my emphasis on healthcare. As for her other students, it's great if Latin helped them. As for Latin helping engineers, my brothers did not have to study Latin, so I did not see that firsthand. It's good that it is still available to study. Chris L.
Delete@ Chris L.
DeleteI didn't wrote that the students who preferred to become engineers have to study latin but that they could choose to study Mathematics and Science. Read also my answer to Anon 21:49
Anon 20:19
I was surprised not to see a representation from Spain.
ReplyDeleteI watched the live feed, ceremony it was beautiful.
GD MT looked cosy in her faux fur jacket.
QM looked lovely in the Natan suit. The 1940’s look is making a revival, and it works well on someone like QM who has the height to carry it off.
Lowri.
@ Lowri
ReplyDeleteKing Philippe and Queen Mathilde are good friends of President Macron and Brigitte Macron. Probably they are also good friends with King Philippes cousin GD Henri and his wife GD Maria-Teresa. On top of that Belgian specialized building contractors contributed in the renovation of the Notre-Dame. But also the President of Germany and his wife were there. The President of Italy and his daughter. I think I also saw the President of Poland (?) and his wife and of course because of the war situation in Eastern Europe, President Zelensky was there but also President Trump, the Prince of Wales,.....
Who was not there from the royals : Spain, The Netherlands, Scandinavia, ....
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde probably stayed in Paris on sunday because on monday they will be visiting the Academie Militaire in Saint-Cyr (Normandy) where Prince Gabriël is following a special program as student at the Royal Military Academy in Belgium.
