  1. Such a pretty princess. Lovely gowns, beautiful jewels. I find the wisps of hair are not lending to a polished look. You can see it was annoying as at some point it was tucked behind her ear.

    1. Agreewuth yr remark about the wisps. So unnaturally esp. Since she has such a pretty face

    2. I actually think the wisps of hair add a bit of softness and charm to her look. It gives a more relaxed, effortless feel that still complements her overall elegance. It’s a nice balance between polished and natural, and it doesn’t take away from the stunning gowns or jewels.

  2. Wow! Amalia looks fantastic, I've never seen her so beautiful, poised and comfortable in front of the cameras. Good for her.
I don't particular like Q. Máximas dress, but I think she looks perfect for v the occasion.

  3. Lovely to see CP Amalia attending this state dinner. It is my viewpoint that darker jewelled colours suit her fair complexion better, even though lilac is a pretty colour.
Maxima looks wonderful in this re-wear, which I've always liked. Both ladies jewellery are lovely.

  5. Wow, Amalia looks gorgeous.
Her makeup, hair and jewelry are all perfect.
I wonder why the queen isn't wearing a sash to a state banquet.

    1. The Queen is wearing the gold collar of her Portuguese order - you can see it decorating the top edge of her dress. I know sometimes people wear the collar alone, although I think you're really supposed to wear the sash as well. I am not sure. The King is wearing both, but they surely know better than I do!

The Princess of Orange is wearing just the sash, but only the very top rank of the order gets the collar.

  6. Sorry, not for a 21 year old this dress of Amalia: wrong colour, wrong tissue, rather cheap looking.

    1. I agree, although Amalia herself looks stunning.

    2. I think this dress suits Amalia beautifully, but as you said you think it’s cheap looking, I decided to research the price, probably around USD700. So not at all cheap, but vastly cheaper than ball gowns used by Charlene, for instance. It may be made of polyester from what I see so yes a cheaper fabric if that’s the case, but I think she’s made it look a million dollars. The only thing I’d change would be to pull the whisky hair bits right off her face - but many younger girls like that styling, and it gives a little hiding place rather than revealing the whole face!

    3. Anon 06.37, I understand that fashion is subjective, and everyone has different tastes. However, it's important to consider that Princess Amalia is often seen wearing dresses that balance tradition and modern style. While this particular dress might not resonate with everyone, it's possible that the color and fabric choices were made to fit the specific event or occasion. Fashion is about personal expression, and Amalia is still young, so her style may evolve over time. Ultimately, she looks confident, and that’s what truly matters!

    4. What about this gown is not for a 21-year-old? Is it too mature looking?

      Delete
    5. I don’t think it’s necessarily that the gown is “too mature,” but rather that it has a classic, elegant style that can be seen as more refined than youthful. It’s the kind of dress that’s timeless and versatile, and someone at any age could wear it. A 21-year-old could definitely pull it off, but it’s a more sophisticated look that focuses on grace rather than trendiness.

  7. Everyone looks good! I do think Maxima has better gowns than this one, this one is elegant but nothing more. Hair, make-up and jewelry are fantastic, as always at state banquets. Amalia looks fantastic in this gown, these cape dresses really suit her. Also hair, make-up and jewelry are great, these jewels suit her. I hope they will experiment with a hairstyle like Maxima's next time, which keeps the hair out of her face. That would make it perfect.

I hope they will NOT experiment with a hairstyle like Maxima's next time. The hairstyle she has here is looking young. It is needed because the dress is already very adult and she is only 21.

    2. I think a lot of people that comment here have forgotten that they were young at one time. We all wore clothes, makeup, and hairstyles that were in style when we were her age. It would have been very strange if our mothers dressed and styled themselves the way we did. She needs to continue to be herself, and style herself the way she chooses to. She is already more limited (and always has been) than the average young woman her age, and most likely her sisters, due to her title and position.

  10. Q. Maxima is gorgeous here but the real star is her daughter!! She's a vision in lilac and the amount of bling they both have on is awesome!! They are both gorgeous!

  12. In the last two photos CA has her mothers smile.
I’m not blown away with CA dress. We’ve certainly seen her in better. I find the color washes her out. She looked better in the darker colors.
I like QM dress, minus the wrap.

Absolutely stunning! I rarely comment but this drew me out! CP Amalia looks amazing, beautiful, poised, and that she is enjoying it all. We are going to see some fabulous sartorial years ahead! QM looks smashing and I particularly love this parure on her.

  14. I am not keen on either dress, but Amalia is so beautiful here. Make up is excellent, hair, jewels spot on. Most of all her demeanour and confidence - I see a resemblance to Maxima in the last two photographs, the first time I have seen this in Amalia. I look forward to seeing more of this lovely young princess in future.
Max is great in jewels as always but not one of her best looks imo.
Gentlemen look tidy and it looks like they enjoy each others company & can laugh together.

  15. Why oh why do these girls (women) with beautiful faces insist on having those strings of hair falling all over the place??? I know it's the fashion, but can't someone send a message that not everyone has to follow the trend? Anyway, Amelia is turning into a real beauty. Other than the hair problem, she is looking fabulous here. Someone mentioned here the color of her gown is washing her out. I wonder if it could be the harsh lighting. Maybe in person, she would look different. I remember reading somewhere that society hostesses arranged their room decor around the lighting and how their female guests would look under certain lighting conditions. I also remember reading that Ava Gardner would never allow herself to be interviewed/photographed unless her personal lighting director was on hand.. I know I'm going on too long here, but stay with me. I also remember reading that Jackie Kennedy had her New York dining room walls painted red because she said the candlelight against the red was flattering to all women.

    1. This hair style is actually retro. Hair styles, like with clothes, cycle back into fashion. I wish those that didn't care for the current styles would just acknowledge that it is personally not for them, instead of making such strong, blanket statements that women should stop wearing the style.

I agree with you about lighting. It makes a huge difference in how colors appear in person, and even more so in photos. That tends to get lost when we look at these photos.

  16. Queen Maxima's gown looks like it is from the 1920's era if was a little shorter. Not my favorite!

    1. Queen Máxima's gown does have a vintage feel, reminiscent of the elegant styles from the 1920s. While it might not be everyone's favorite, her choice could be a nod to classic fashion or a way to bring timeless glamour to a modern event. Fashion is often about personal style and making bold choices, and Queen Máxima definitely knows how to turn heads with her unique and sophisticated looks!

    2. Maxima hardly ever looks sophisticated.

    3. I respectfully disagree. Queen Máxima has a strong sense of style, and while her choices can be bold and colorful, they are often quite sophisticated in their own way. Her outfits combine elegance with modern flair, and she knows how to carry herself with grace, which adds to her overall sophisticated presence.

Paloma.

Amalie is the winner here. She looks radiant. I like the wispy hair - on trend today and sweet. Tadashi is good designer and offers clothing that doesn't break the budget. I had a few of their outfits for my public service life, once upon a time!

  21. Oldfashioned, cheap looking dress and it makes her look much older than she is. But A looks radiant.

    1. I see your point, but I don’t agree with the assessment of the dress. While it may not be everyone's taste, I think it has a certain classic elegance. As for the age factor, I believe it’s more about how someone carries themselves, and the wearer’s confidence can make all the difference. I do agree that A looks radiant, though—it's always nice to see someone glowing in what they wear!

  22. I too think that Amalia looks stunning here, and that´s because of her radiant smile, her confidence and poise, and her exquisite jewellery. I also think that her hair is very nicely done up, and while I don´t like the hanging strands of hair, I´m not as much bothered by them as others seem to be.
Now, the dress: It´s not a bad dress, but still not quite right. I think that lilac is a difficult colour to wear for most people. It is also clashing with the red sash. The skirt is reflecting the light oddly and makes it look as of there is some bulk under her dress, like a slip bunched up or something. This is probably at least in part to blame on the pattern in the fabric creating the impression of a dropped waist, and that is never a flattering look. It throws off any woman´s proportions. The bare back looks weird next to the cape-style sleeves, which are a bit too dramatic for a 21 year old anyway. We are used to Amalia hiding behind big garments. Unfortunately, the wide coats, and the slung-over-the-shoulders-jackets etc. always make her look wide rather than slim. As do these cape sleeve thingies. She has lost quite a bit of weight (and looks fantastic!), but her gown fails to showcase that.

  23. Amalia looks gorgeous here--the color, the style, the fit of her gown is perfect for her. I also love the star tiara on her. The only thing I am not a fan of is the hairstyle--sorry, I just don't like those loose pieces in the front. She is beautiful but there are photos showing she is having to tuck the pulled pieces behind her ears so it is in the way. Queen Maxima always looks marvelous in the Mellerio tiara and this appearance is no exception. I love how her hair is styled too. I have never been a fan of this gown--I'm put off by the Harlequin-esque bodice to hip area--but it does fit her beautifully.
